    I can shave everyday with a single blade safety razor, i get no rash or soreness, the traditional soaps make a huge difference, they moisturize and help the razor glide as well as smelling great and cause no irritation. A good safety razor and blade give a super close and smooth shave and the whole experience with a soap and brush is very enjoyable .

    High end cartridge razors with multiple blades will give you a cleaner shave because they pull the hair. But do you really need it? Is baby smooth skin that only lasts for a couple of hours really necessary? And is it worth the massive increase in price and waste of plastic? For me, I think a safety razor with cheap blade is perfectly fine and you're wasting money on those Gillette Mach 4 disposable cartridges. You decide for yourself.

    Just shave while you are showering and your (1 cm lenght top) beard is moisty and wet, it will be shaved off extremely easily and comfortably, I use the single-bladed razor as if it would be a brush, so handled from the bottom tip with short, decisive but not too deep touches and strokes on the skin.
    Once in a while a very tiny cut but it is nothing to be worried about, adds a bit of colour to the skin too :)

    Depends on your time,a safety razor takes a little more time or you can easily cut yourself with new blade with improper angle but a cartridge you can basically go zip zip done and out the door since there is perfect tilting on contours but the cartridges are expensive;you will get a better shave with safety razor and no ingrown hairs with lower cost of blades.

    Well, what you say, Mr. Auto-voice-man all sounds good in theory. My experience is thus: I have shaved with a twin blade Gillette Sensor II for years. About 25 or so. Three years ago to the day (almost) i jumped on the band wagon and got into simple double edge safety razors. My barber sold them. He told me, "well you may not get any better of a shave, just different. Maybe less irritation because the blade only cuts once." Sounded good, so i got one. then I got another, because well, guys love tools. especially nice heavy tools. Professional tools. Beautiful tools. We are succors that just love well made stuff! I was looking for the "perfect shave" that i had not yet found! Then I found the myriad of razor blades that will make the perfect tool, really perfect. Coated, non-coated, open combed vs closed comb razors. You get the idea. Well, The first day I used the "old school" safety razor I learned what the hell a steptic pencil was for and why you would need one. I cut myself more than ever with this new tool than ever with the multi's. then I learned about technique. Oh yeah, now I was in the club of real men, with real tools, expensive tools and I was going to only pay like .03 cent per shave! Oh yeah! I kept at it and stopped cutting myself. now an then it still happens. I decided it was time to try the old Sensor II just for fun after all these, count them, 3 years! All I can say is wow. There is, believe it or not, a reason why razor development has changed. These expensive cartridges are very good. Very good indeed. It took a lot of time to be objective, but I have found that they shave close, they shave fast and most importantly, the do shave very, very comfortably! So with a new set of 100 Feather blades and some Sharks, a ton of Crystals, I will probably use them up or maybe sell them off until they are gone. So which one is better? It is a subjective thing at best. My face says, you're not a real man because you can't shave with a straight and believe me I tired this more than once. No freaking way! There is a reason when you look back in the up to 1905 or so a reason why almost everyone wore a well groomed long beard. Soldiers had mustaches and goatees, because when faced with a straight razor, most of us are real pussies... It freaking hurts! So until they invented a safety razor that was reasonably comfortable, the military allowed beards. go figure that! So, jump on guys, it really isn't the money that matters when you are paying for those expensive multi's. When you count all the singles you are going to start getting, it will make the multi blade thing seem like just normal everyday expense compared to the the hobby or the singles. But you don't need to take my word for it, you get 2 or 3 or 4 new "tools" and try 6 or 10 different brands of blades. You'll have so much fun, you'll probably make a youtube video of yourself in front of a steamy mirror telling all the kids how to really shave. It'll be awesome!

      This comment is unjust. You should be more open minded. It is true that a big chunk of this DE movement is just hype. Cartridge are very good and if you dont' mind the price there's no real rational reason to switch to a DE.

    • @EricMustardman
      @EricMustardman 5 лет назад +2

      @@s.j.l.8736 Do you feel better when you hit the internet and go on a name-calling spree?
      I've been shaving with safety razors for most of my shaving life but I can acknowledge without behaving like a butt-hurt little snowflake that good cartridge razors beat safety razors when you shave daily and just want a quick, comfortable and clean shave without fuss, without spending ten minutes to a quarter of an hour longer in the bathroom and without having to learn how to whip lather, without having to test out different razor models and brands of blades etc. OK, I'm willing to concede that shaving with a cartridge razor is about as thrilling and challenging as a penalty shoot-out onto an empty goal. ;-)
      I personally enjoy all the ado in the bathroom, the preparation, the experimenting with different soaps, creams, brushes, razors, blades etc. It means quality time in the morning for me if I take a quarter of an hour to slow down my life a little, to relax and let my thoughts drift. But that is my personal way of relaxation and nobody, neither I nor you nor anybody else has the right to call people names just because they choose to shave in a different way. Who the heck do you think you are!?
