They both fit my ring fingers perfectly, but because the carnelian stone is slightly smaller than the onyx and its ring has a slimmer bottom band, i had it downsized to a pinky ring at a local jewelry store and it looks just great. So now i wear the onyx on my right ring finger and the carnelian on my left pinky. Question for ya: my grandfather used to tell me a story HIS Dad used to tell him. My great grandfather was a Polish immigrant and he brought with him the tradition of wearing his gold wedding band on his left hand middle finger. My great grandmother wore her silver wedding band on her right hand middle finger. He claimed it was a tradition that represented the balance between the sun and moon (gold and silver) and the placement was so my great grandparents were only in "balance" when together and holding hands. I asked one of my former teachers about this (she immigrated from Poland as a child) and she affirmed the tradition, though she said it's EXTREMELY outdated. I, however, have been unable to find any historical precedence for this tradition. Just wondering your thoughts and expertise.
I'm Polish and have never heard of that, neither wearing a band on the middle finger nor having bands made of different metals. Maybe it was specific to a particular region or social/ethnic group?
All I was thinking when watching this was: In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, beware my power, Green Lantern's light
The Blackest Night falls from the skies, The darkness grows as all light dies. We crave your hearts and your demise, By my black hand, the dead shall rise!
Loved this. Rings for me are based on how they can be used to hurt your handshake. The middle and ring finger are the ones that someone else can "crush" your hand. Thumb, Index, and Pinky are the only ones that someone cannot leverage them to crush your grip. Modern perspective.
Lol chest up shoulders back, firm handshake. If you have handshake rules you're not an entrepreneur but terminally online. Anyone crushing handshakes is unlikable. Being Likeable is something you should be more aware of, but you think handshake techniques do that?
One note on the pinky ring for engineers. This is part of being a member of the Order of the Engineer (a professional society) and it is worn on the pinky of the hand that is used to sign documents. The ring is meant to be a reminder that you as an engineer are putting your reputation behind the project and that said project will be designed to be the safest and best design possible (the rings are all made from the metal taken from the Tacoma Narrows Bridge that collapsed due to improper engineering).
Most interesting! I was married to a structural engineer. I am a software engineer. My son is a rocket science engineer. I guess we all need Engineering rings now, ha ha!!

Earlier this year, I got a very cheap but decent imitation of the One Ring with the inscription on it. I wear it either on my left middle finger (I'm right-handed) or as a necklace pendant.
My grandfather wore rings on every finger all the time, he loved his rings. When he passed a couple years ago I got a few of them that I wear all the time.
I used to wear a ring on every finger and both thumbs. They were mostly tungsten, so they were always bright and shiny, and were all round, which allowed for decent hand movement.
In my family we never part with anything, just keep recycling it I have the buttons from my great grandmother's wedding dress. Sometimes I switch out a garment I bought and sometimes I sew a garment to put the buttons on. I've got generations of wedding rings and other jewelry too.
This is a fascinating video! I'm writing a character who crafts and enchants rings to bolster his own arcane power and his influence within society, and taking into account the way we've historically worn rings and their meanings has helped to not only design the look and placement of each one, but also given me new ideas for what each ring might do. This is absolutely intriguing! I got interested when I picked up eastern archery. In many eastern styles of archery, a thumb ring is used to protect the thumb from the bow string. They range from simple leather straps, to elaborately decorated and jeweled monstrosities.
Before introduction of European style gentlemen's clothes in 19th century, zihgir (thumb ring) was actually a part of attire in Ottoman Empire and Seljuks before that. A gazi (loosely translated as "veteran") would wear it in his civilian life, too. Therefore, a glimpse to the thumb of the person you've come across gives you an idea if you're talking to a warrior or not. People stripped of rank usually took off and surrender their zihgir, much like famous Hollywood scenes where a cop surrenders his gun and badge.

I have worn rings my whole life. In the 80s & 90s, I caught a lot of grief from other guys about being effeminate, not that I care. But since the turn of the millennium, and especially in recent years, I have never been bothered. As a matter of fact, I received some praise from a couple of young ladies at the dispensery yesterday that they really liked my rings and my over all style. As I hadn't been out in quite a while, and I am not in touch with anything that is considered current fashion trends, I took it as a high complement! Not bad for a 49 year old dude, eh?
Good on you! I'm four years your junior and I've worn rings, necklaces, and rings since high school. I get female compliments quite often as well. I'll continue to wear my jewelry and my unique fashion until I'm laid to rest. Take care!

As a bit of firearms history, you can usually tell a lot about the previous owners of a fire arm based on wear the wood is deformed where they had a ring. For example that’s how I know my great grandfather was left handed from a ring indent on a family heirloom gun being right where the ring finger in he left hand would be if the weapon was held left handed
I only wear my grandfathers pinky ring which is gold with an oval blood stone. I've had it and worn it most the times since turning 18. I am 55 now. I do remember my grandfather wearing it in the early 70 with his passing in 1977. The family held it in trust till I turned 18.
Also there is "zihgir ring" in Turkish culture. We wear to thumb. It is not just ring, we are using zihgir for archery. Zihgir holds bowstring (bowstring is correct word I hope).
Very informative. Apparently, I've been doing it wrong. My family has a crest that has been worn as rings for a long time. When I finally came of age and got my ring, I chose to get it fitted for my left middle finger so my ancestors could assist me in flipping people off.
I started wearing rings when I was 25 at the mall. Saw a wedding band at Kay Jewellers that I loved. I saw it, I liked it, I bought it. I wear it on my right ring finger. Have been wearing it for the past 3 years and just a few months ago my grandfather saw it asked about it and offered me some of his old rings; picked one of his with a nice black onyx and some interesting engravings around the stone. I wear that one on my left middle finger (need to get it sized up about 0.5-1 size larger as it's difficult to remove). I love both of my rings and wear them daily. I doubt I'll ever have much of a collection as the ones I have have some meaning. I'm hoping to see if my other grandfather had any rings he used to wear as it would be a nice reminder of where I come from and who came before me. If you're reading this, I apologize for the novel. TL;DR - I wear 2 rings. One on right ring, one on left middle.
Only one ring bonus can be active per hand, but you can attune as many rings as you have fingers (they don't actually have to be on each finger, you can double up or whatever as long as they are worn on the relevant hand) and they remain attuned even while the bonus is inactive.
For many year (over 30) I have worked as a workshop instructor and one thing I had to observe and teach is the dangers of wearing rings in particular but also other jewellery when working in a workshop and with machinery. My wife is a Jeweller and as we are both metal workers we made each others wedding rings, but I found that I rarely wore mine, mainly because I couldn't at work and in other settings it felt awkward and uncomfortable. I also found that when I started to do anything manual my finger would swell and it would be come tight and uncomfortable.. My solution was to have my wedding band tattooed onto my left hand ring finger. It is simple to reflect that of a plain wedding band but marked with the date of our marriage. I don't know what this says about me, some people view tattooed hands in an unfavourable light! However, I have no other tattoos, this is the only ink on my skin!

I have seen times where men going into bars would put a ring on their ring fingers despite not being married. The goal being to discourage "gold diggers" and/or to indicate that any physical interaction would be without commitment, under the premise that they were already allegedly "committed"
My father never wore his wedding ring mainly because he considered it a safety liability. He told me it's just a way to get your hand caught in something. I got a lot of fatherly advice...
When you work with your hands a ring is very much a safety hazard. Years ago I my ring got caught while lifting a heavy steel gate while installing. Cut my finger and it only didn’t do worse because the ring came adrift at its weld (soft gold). Never wore a ring since but that’s OK. Married men get a “look” after the first few years so I’m (unfortunately) never mistaken as single ;)
My hubby hasn’t worn his wedding band almost since we were married because he works with electronics. The metal touching the wrong wire can be very dangerous
Degloving is a serious possibility with wearing rings. Ive seen it happen twice. If you work with your hands (wood work, welding, metal working, construction for example) its better to not wear a ring unless your out at a family dinner or something casual.
The only ring with any meaning in my life says on it, "One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them, One ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them."

My parents realized it was a cause of consternation and made my anxiety worse and helped out with it; I’d never have thought of it! I disagree. That would be a fire resistance ring, and it wouldn't affect intelligence. A fire enchanted ring would give you some kind of fire spell. You really need to study up on your magic rings before opening your mouth. sheesh

Two things: Electrum is not the popular metal it once was, but, it combines three popular precious metals (platinum, gold, silver) and has the additional benefit of being a beautiful mix in it's own right. I think something similar will be the case for my fiancé. I gave him a ring when we got engaged because he lives in a hot zone of the virus, and because my mother was battling cancer I couldn’t see him reliably. I wanted him to also have a symbol that we were together, a team, and come what may, we’d handle it. Recently he mentioned wearing after our wedding next April, just on the other hand. He wears his ring even more than I wear mine (i hate the dampness after I wash my hands, and take it off to moisturize at night, etc). We’ve had a few troubles here and there, but he’s never once taken that ring off. With his family history, he takes marriage so seriously, and is trying to go about things responsibly and respectfully. We’re getting him a custom ring made that may look a bit more like a signet ring, but it’s what he wants, and since he’s wearing both, eh. I think it’s s cool design and since I’m getting something a bit unique as well, I guess fair is fair. 😅
A thumb ring could also mean you practice the Mongolian Thumb Draw in Archery. Since they made rings that they wore on the thumbs of their drawing hand when using a bow so they could get more draw power without hurting themselves.
It's just a thumb draw. Most eastern cultures used the thumb draw, and place the arrow on the right-hand side of the riser, it's not just Mongolian. Also the ring helps with the release rather than for protection
My dad ordered me a Celtic Dragon ring, and I love it to death, but due to its size I have to wear it on my middle finger... so my bird now spits fire. Edit: I find wearing the ring on my middle finger more comfortable as well, then again I also tend to not remove it when using my tech.

two things i learned from my Italian father when it came to wearing rings. on the day my grandmother died he gave me his class ring and told me to wear it on specifically my left hands pinky ring. I'm not shure if i am remembering this right but i believe he told me it is an italian thing for men to wear the ring that was given to them by their parents on thier pinky ring and it is to be worn on specific family events such as weddings, funerals and reunions. The other thing i learned from pops was that when mixing rings, you must go off what ring you place on your dominant hand. example, say i wore a plain gold band ring on my right hand on any finger. the second ring i would choose must have an adornment of some kind that would match the color of gold ring. since i have a gold ring, i must choose colors that would match with gold. those colors fall in line with various shades of red, blues, greens and purples.

I tend to wear a promise ring on my right index finger and a personal favorite that I just prefer on my right hand's 'ring finger.' The reason why I wear them in that order is because of comfort and how the sizing feels. This is really cool to learn about, especially since I just got engaged!

Never liked jewelry until I was 18 years old on a college Christian Student Fellowship trip to Colorado, while on this trip we had to stop by Walmart to grab food. While waiting on my leaders to finish shopping I was checking out the jewelry section. I came across a Silver ring with a gold edge the had a Cross in the middle and then the entire Lord's prayer inscribed around the ring. I thought it was so cool so I bought it much to my surprise for only $20. I always wear it on my middle left hand finger or my left hand pointer finger. Over the last 7 years I have lost this ring 3 times for over a year thinking I would never get it back again, but somehow every single time that I lost it I had fallen from God and every time someone had found it for me and returned it to me was always a time after I had been asking God for help. I now put this ring on to symbolize my commitment everyday to Christ.

Fascinating. I'm so happy I'm reading the comments.

I used to wear a ring on every finger and both thumbs. They were mostly tungsten, so they were always bright and shiny, and were all round, which allowed for decent hand movement.

This is a fascinating video! I'm writing a character who crafts and enchants rings to bolster his own arcane power and his influence within society, and taking into account the way we've historically worn rings and their meanings has helped to not only design the look and placement of each one, but also given me new ideas for what each ring might do.

If you wear multiple rings do the bonuses stack?

That's a good idea, getting your wedding ring tattooed on. As an Electrical Engineer, I can easily understand the danger of the metal on your finger.

My father never wore his wedding ring mainly because he considered it a safety liability. He told me it's just a way to get your hand caught in something. I got a lot of fatherly advice...
Sometimes getting married can be a liability.
There are new types. Look up the blue line, and there’s also some for electricians, though I’m still slightly suspect
Degloving is a serious possibility with wearing rings. Ive seen it happen twice. If you work with your hands (wood work, welding, metal working, construction for example) its better to not wear a ring unless your out at a family dinner or something casual.

I really want to show dominance so I double stack my rings on my toes
You are a BOSS
😩
10/10. Would bang. Love a man with toe rings.
I pulled off my toenail today
I personally use hola hoops on the toes but whatever works for you
I don’t stack my rings but in total I wear 11 rings...
I love this set design so much! The material, production and structure of the video as well as the research it took is truly impressive. I think, however, that no man should feel afraid to look "effeninate" because of something that he thinks would look good on him. So to all you guys out there, no one can take your manhood away from you, no matter what you like to wear. As a woman, I respect and admire your ability to unapologetically wear rings, makeup, manicured hands, long and short skirts, long and colorful hair and so on. Love to all of you from Switzerland ♡♡
As an enby, I wholeheartedly support this post. Beautiful!
Speaking about rings being effeminate: medieval knights used to wear several rings on each finger, when they put the gauntlets of the armor, the rings created a seal that improved the grip on the weapons ir the briddles. Interestingly, many knights, when buried, ordered their mortuory statues to depict them with their many rings on.
I didn’t expect to actually learn this much about the fashion choices and different ways I can express myself through something as small as this. This has opened my wardrobe and my mind great video
don't the only people who do stuff like this are fedora wearing weirdos. do you honestly think people are going to understand and be impressed if they see you wearing a some rings. dont try to force your personality out on someone by how you dress just let people know who you are by the way you act

*Video about rings and their meaning*
*Mentions the name Prince Albert*
Me: WOAH NOW.
Ha! 😆😆😆
😂👏
Hi, did you know that The 'Prince Albert Piercing and Ring' is actually named after Queen Victoria's husbaVictoria's and Prince Albert? He reportedly had such a large member that it became painful whilst horse riding. He asked his royal jewellers to come up with a solution and The Prince Albert is the result. Once the ring was inserted he would attach it to a leg suspender to prevent being squashed while hunting. !.
Wow...

I like how you emphasized that it's up to YOU and not what someone says online
This is very interesting! I have several rings that I wear, including pinky rings and thumb rings. It never ceases to amaze me how many times I have worn my rings and wound up eating Chinese food, which get in the way of using chopsticks
Oh my, I'm a young lawyer and I've been reading your articles for years.
I was not aware there was a RUclips channel as well.
I now have a voice narrating the articles I will be reading.
Thank you, recommendations
I want to be a lawyer 😊
@@Aethelhadas I wish you the best. May you achieve it. If you really want it, you will succeed.
My kindest regards, fellow future colleague
I don't think multiple rings are effeminate per se, but men also wore high heels and wigs historically
Don't forget about all the makeup!
I think it is very girly to wear a ring.
@@jbonkerz makeup depends.
I know French royalty men would wear some makeup.
But usually historically makeup was usually a status sign for high class women.

A lot of Western boots have higher heels than what is really not seen in other men's shoes
This randomly popped up in my suggested videos, thought it was interesting. I wear two rings, a steel ring on my right index finger, and a silver ring on my right ring finger. If I shake someone's hand, they will noticeably react to my rings if they be fey or undead.
I wear 4 rings now two on each hand. My biggest ring is a four leaf clover in emeralds surrounded by diamonds in nugget gold. The one next to it is a flawless diamond nugget ring with a trail of smaller diamonds in the nugget mine. Left hand is a slotted diamond face which cascades over both sides. The other is a large solitaire with diamonds radiating from the middle by Gabriel. I wear them always, work, driving, because I used to not pay attention to my hands and got hurt. Now no matter what I’m doing I pay attention. My rings bring me happiness every day. Wealth attracts wealth, it does work!
RUclips algorithm finally worked for once. Such in interesting video that just hits enough outside my comfort zone to intrigue me.
The daughter is demonstrating her power at a young age.
I tend to wear a promise ring on my right index finger and a personal favorite that I just prefer on my right hand's 'ring finger.'
The reason why I wear them in that order is because of comfort and how the sizing feels.
This is really cool to learn about, especially since I just got engaged!
@@Cyrus_11215 thanks!
Me too lol. It feels awkward to me if I switched their locations for some reason. I have a spiked ring on my middle and ring finger, and on the opposite hand is where I carry the more meaningful ring
From one engaged man to another, Congrats
Woah, I do the exact same thing, I looked at both of my hands while reading this 🤣😂
Congrats dude! Hope everything goes awesome.
Question: what if a man is wearing a golden ring with a green stone on it on his left ring finger? Is this a wedding band? Should I assume he is married? Ive only ever seen traditional bands so I wonder

I was watching uk police audits, but to be fare we both here
I feel like the answer to "Isn't wearing rings effeminate?" should be, "What are you, a child?"
Female jewlery is like female cars. Think about it.
@@sorrowandsufferin924 I don't exactly know what you're getting at but some people would absolutely say there are "chick cars".
@@jumbojimbo6308 Doesn't exist. Sure, some cars may be associated more commonly with women, and that "may" is a big one, but there is no car produced especially for use by females. Neither is jewlery.

I’ve been wearing my only ring on my middle finger for a bit over a year and I have had zero issue with it getting in the way of feeling uncomfortable. It feels best there and even has a specific hand that feels best with it
Late to the party, but I want to put my 2 cents here. I wear my wedding band (half white - half yellow gold) on the ring finger and a metalic dark gray ring on the middle finger of the other hand. Sometimes I switch it to an obsidian black ring. What i do several times a day, is that I switch hands, meanning that i move the rings from one hand to the other, but always on the same finger. I do this because the rings are wide and I sweat, so the skin gets a "pruny" look and I dislike that
