If Tom didn't win you over during Robot, The Ark in Space really sealed the deal. One of the best ever Doctor-companion line ups, and beginning a run of stories that would make Doctor Who part of a winning schedule for Autumn and Winter Saturday afternoons/evenings. Wonderful 👍
I really missed Harry in the later parts of Tom and Liz's era in the TARDIS. He really rounded the team off with the way he bounced off The Doctor and Sarah.
I grew up in the seventies and watched Tom Baker on the local PBS channel on Saturday afternoons. He is my favorite of the doctors. Jelly Babies and that long scarf. In addition I have met David Tennant once at a Comic-con and he was so personable.
In 1977, at aged 11, this was the story that completely won be over to Tom Baker as the new Doctor, getting me well and truly over losing Jon Pertwee who I had grown up watching.
That looks like it was recorded by a video sensor of some sort and not film. If so was it at a higher definition than PAL? Maybe that is why it looks a bit fuzzy was it was still lower than HD.
It's funny. Tom Baker was my favorite Dr. He was THE Doctor for me. Just the other day, I tried Jellybabies because of him. BTW, they're horrible. After what they did to the Doctor, I just can't watch anymore.
@@kakophonien6514 no i do get what you mean now lol. you don’t need to be *so* rude about the current era though, there are some of us who love it a lot…

Fabulous characters and a great story thoroughly overcomes laughably cheap, inadequate, and dated studio sets. One day technology will allow cost effective video retrofit of better sets and backgrounds to these shows.
Oh I don't think the sets were that bad in the 70s era Doctor Who episodes. Even with all the advanced special effects and technology available nowadays, the newer Doctor Who shows with Tennant, Smith and Capaldi still have a wonderfully camp look to them!

Right on!
I’ve not seen Classic Who but I really like Tom Baker’s 4th Doctor as it’s the perfect mix between childish, seriousness, charming-ness and humour.
That's exactly it. Robot barely won over much of the general audience, but this story sold basically everyone on Tom
I like how Ian Marter holds on to Liz Sladen’s dress so it doesn’t ride up. Very gallant
She was beautiful
@@davidrosler5413 i saw Elizabeth said in an interview that Ian himself told her he'd make sure her dress didnt ride up
@@oremstale8558 Cool factoid, thanks. I know Liz always spoke very fondly of him and it shows here what a true gentleman he was.
This is just who Harry Sullivan was..a true gentleman from the old school
The greatest team ever in the show.

Yes ! Totally Agree!
Nothing like seeing this as a kid on PBS late at night, way past my bedtime.
Absolutely!!!!
Brilliant story and I know that most of the equipment is from Gerry Anderson's UFO.
@Ian Turner You're very welcome ^^
A good team, the Doctor, Harry and Sarah Jane. ❤️

_Doctor Who_ stories always work really well when they end up in these technologically eerie and dangerous environments . . .
The Other Actors have played The Doctor, Tom is The Doctor.
Matt Smith didn’t play The Doctor, he played Matt Smith.
@@virtualashez can't deny that (love the eleventh Doctor ,probably my fav from new who)

@@sombuddhaash596 I already said that
To be fair, Tom Baker was pretty much playing himself throughout his seven years in the role.
One of the first episodes I ever saw. I was hooked fast!
Really wish there was a way to watch all the classic Dr Who's in Ireland, surely Netflix or Amazon Prime would pick them up
@Ian Turner Nope Britbox not available here
DVDs
There was a time you could download them back in the days of file sharing.

One of my favourite classic who stories
Proof that absolutely every mechanical or electrical system problem can be solved with a good screwdriver.
This was just one of the episodes that really scared me silly, but terror of the zygons is by far the scariest as I'm concerned.
yes i agree, and for me it was also " robots of death"
Simply wonderful! ❤️️

Thank god the Channel came back
1:54 harry got his shoe burnt to a crisp
tom was by far my favourite species of time lord !
The Doctor's hat! How could they do this?
Harry always gets me with his "I say..."
hahahaha
Tom Baker has always been my favorite Doctor from the original series!
Tom Baker isn't a Time Lord. He's a Time God!
It’s good to know there’s Brandy in the Tardis. For medicinal purposes of course.
I know so what's the Title of this episode ?
@Henry Andrews I like that One
This tied in perfectly with the Flux. Excellent!
Welcome back bestie x
Harry is a true gentleman, pulling Sarah's skirt down like that 👍 god bless him. I shipped them so hard as a couple 💑
Oh so we're going to get Season 12 clips one day then Season 19 ones another?
That's cleared that up then.
they should just stick with season 12 until they finished them then move to 19
Well the show is about time travel! 😁

It is indeed recorded on SD videotape rather than film.
I think I should start getting the Collection Blu Ray sets, to see the classic series in HD would be BRILLIANT!
It's not Hd made it will basicly be the same quality. there is no way to watch classic who in hd, other then spearhead.
@@NomisArchives And all the (surviving) film inserts!

This was the final phase of the Golden Era of Doctor Who. For me, the Seeds of Time was the last really good story, and Masque of Mandragora the beginning of the slow decline into rubbish - the era of K9.
So what was the point of pulling everything down for the last 24 hours?
BBC take note: THIS is Doctor Who, not the cr#p we've had for the last years
Completely incorrect. The only time we haven’t had “proper” (pointless term; there can’t be improper) Doctor Who was the 1990s hiatus!
Supreme Doctor Who. Modern day Who could take a lesson from this kind of storytelling.
So slow, this is my problem with classic Who, is that everything is soooo... slow...
