“Are you coming or going or going or coming” is one of the little quotes that’s always stuck with me forever
Uploading Sontaran clips before War of the Sontarans, GOOD IDEA!
Now more people can see what the Classic Sontarans are like if they’ve never seen them
True
People need to see these superior sontarans. Styre and Lynx are absolutely brutal and it's brilliant.
@@obiwankenobi687 ye they're brutal in series 4 as well. While in The Time Warrior and The Sontaran Experiment the brutality comes from focusing on the sontarans as individuals and their cruelty, The Sontaran Strategem/The Poison Sky shows it through sontarans as a collective and their craving for war.
And ye I'm slightly nervous about the new sontarans because they're being portrayed like Strax so far even though most sontarans are part of a villainous army and shouldn't be treated like Strax and shouldn't just be played off for jokes.
They can also see what the Doctor should look like as well!
Oddly, they've given us a clip without any Sontarans in it! Not that I'm complaining, I adore this team. I guess its 'to be continued'
Just another example of why Sarah is one of the best doctor who companions ever. Although Ive only seen bits and pieces of this era, as a young dr who fan, I feel privelaged that I got to fullt see liz's talent when she returned to New Who and in the sarah jane adventures which was my favorite show as a child.
Gone but most certainly never forgotten. ❤️❤️❤️
I've never got the fuss about her if I'm honest. 🤷♂️
This was the episode Tom Baker broke his collarbone and was in a brace the whole time of shooting.
I hear because of Tom Baker’s injury on set, the actor Terry Walsh who played a character called “Zake” in this episode had to be Tom’s body double for the fight scenes with the Sontaran, since the actor looked a bit like Tom Baker from a distance.
@@stephenmurphy2212 I believe that is 100% correct.
I loved how unique this episode was when I first saw it! It was executed very well for an “inherited” story.
We see the Sontarans a lot, but very little of thier mortal enemies the Rutons, except for The horror at fang rock
I would like them to appear again
Probably cause the Rutons prefer subtlety and stealth rather then the very direct and overt methods of the Sontarans.
They were a big villain in the Adventure Games
Another Rutan appeared in a 1994 spinoff called Shakedown: Return Of The Sontarans.
Rutans are more stealthier than the loud and brass Sontarans
I always loved when Harry drove Sarah nuts by calling her "Old thing".
Such an iconic team. Little moments that went so far in building up the feel of the show. Tom Baker's Doctor comes off as oddly alien, just a bit off kilter.
Though seeing his cut shots on this channel just confirms that Tom Baker is otherworldly!
I swear to God, I had the biggest crush on Sara when I was a teen, I would scour the TVguide looking to see that it was on PBS at 5:00 am in my area. Seeing these episodes bring back so many happy memories :)
I’m 22 years old as of right now, and I have a big crush on Sarah Jane. No nostalgia needed. She’s brilliant.
Ahh lis sladen. brilliant as always. Absolute gem
❤️❤️
One of my very first crushes.
Always thought her character was the best.
More reminders that Sarah Jane is queen
Fun fact: This story features the Sontaran tool called a Gravity Bar. The next time that tool appeared on screen was this last Halloween, in the Flux premiere! All updated for NuWho, of course
Setting aside technical sophistication in the dialog and such stuff, this scene does a good job representing, in my opinion, something that a lot of modern TV, to say nothing of modern Dr. Who, has forgotten: pacing, and letting things have a base to build out from.
It's like what they tell art students: don't be afraid of negative space in a visual work.
This was the first classic Who story I ever watched I remember watching it on my dad's old laptop
This used to be one of my favourite episodes as a kid, I would always watch the dvd over and over. My dad loved Doctor Who too but I think he got sick of it after the 1,000,000th time haha.
Love that Harry was so posh, that he called Sarah Jane, old thing. 😁❤️
The very first Who story I ever saw (via VHS). It made me a life long fan and I still can remember almost every piece of dialogue from heart!
Wonderful Elisabeth Sladen
"Only my dignity" got me haha.
The need for the Fourth Doctor is strong.
In English please
@@arthurmorgan6359 We need more 4th Doctor Clips.
@@arthurmorgan6359 It's sad that you couldn't understand the comment. It's in perfect English.
Fun serial. I have this on DVD. I believe they filmed this out in Devon, where it rains a bit. Think Dartmoor made a great setting for a London 10,000 years in the future. Love the "It doesn't seem like Earth at all" comment by Sarah Jane Smith.
Harry: Ok Old thing?
Sarah: Harry I’m not a *thing*
Fancy seeing you here
I'd melt if he said that to me. What a hunk.
@@murdermcmurderface did your profile name come from a certain brawlhalla character?
@@lucassmith7871 no, it’s a drawing my friend did of me as Sherlock, and then I scribbled over it in whatsapp lol
@@murdermcmurderface ah sorry... Was curious because one of the characters is called Artemis and wields a scythe and a Lance lol
Gotta love the classic sontaran stories.
Absolutely love this story. Being only 2 episodes its very punchy which I think works in its favour. If you can get the opportunity read the novelisation. Being written by Ian Marter Harry's part gets an heroic uplift but he also adds an extra grimness to an already grim story,
I just found out that the first Doctor who episode aired back in November 1963 sometime. It's the year 2021, it's hard to believe Doctor who been on television for that long.
This is what I got when I Googled it.
It would have been cancelled when Hartnell fell sick and had to quit the show. But a genius from the showrunners came up with the solution of the Doctor regenerating and from then, it had become a multi-generational tool to pass Doctor Who to the next age group of fans.
We all know why they posted this, get ready for the war of the sontarans!
The dislike is from a sontaran
This is my favorite Doctor Who Story, I feel so bad for Tom’s broken collarbone in Part 2.
"Only my dignity" damn girl...
Sontarans are my favorite Dr Who villains!! I like the Rutans too and I wish they would appear in current episodes!!!
They and the Zygons were fun villains. Loved this cast and the serials they put out, like Ark in Space, Terror of the Zygons, etc.
Apparently, the show wanted to use video permanently, but due to the size of the cameras, they retained the film outside, video inside style until Trial, minus the four occasions they could afford to go all video.
first time hearing doctor say, go anywhere you like.
always heard, don't go anywhere from here
lol
I’m guessing we’re now jumping between uploading clips from The Ark in Space, The Sontaran Experiment & Castrovalva
I love the filming location, it reminds me of the moors around where I live.
Fun fact, during the shooting of this story Tom Baker broke his collarbone and had to use his scarf to hide his neck brace
"ARE YOU COMING OR GOING OR GOING OR COMING?!"
Such great dialogue and interplay
i miss that doctor
'Not much in the way of life now is there?'
Not much difference then
are Sarah Jane Smiths we miss you lady so much
She looks so young here:0
Rest in Peace Bob Baker.

Best show in the world
Yes it sure was.
@@forkinhell3545 And still is, and always will be.
@@DrWhoFanJ Can't agree that it still is, but am hopeful it may be again.
@@forkinhell3545 Well, it’s a fact, so, unless you’re equally OK with disagreeing about 2+2 being 4, then you’re being inconsistent on what is/isn’t true!
@@DrWhoFanJ How can it be a fact? Don't be an idiot. Nothing is consistently perfect, especially with the length of run Dr Who has had. It's my favourite show, but I can't say every story or Doctor is brilliant. Why can't people like you EVER accept criticism.
Such a great filming location but such flat direction...
I Love Dr Who
My favourite bit is the Jon Culshaw fight scene
Love the humour lol
Another good classic dr who clip
RIP Sladen
Only Tom Baker is still alive out of the three here.
love me sontarans.
love me experiments.
simple as.
"There's been no life on Earth ... for 10,000 years" and they're surrounded by plants???
I know this might sound stupid but I miss the autons we haven't since 2005 the very first returns episode of doctor whp
Now that I think about it, a lot of continuity of the Whittaker-era especially the Timeless Child actually originated from the Tom Baker tenure.
Please don't connect the abomination that is the timeless child with the epicness that was Tom Baker tenure.
@@forgivemenot1 Brain of Morbius was the one that started the Timeless Child storyline. It is also in the Tom Baker tenure that alternate dimensions were introduced. His companion Romana even went to one to be its Time Lady. The Timeless Child is a Classic Who entwined storyline which answered a lot of its formerly messy plots. What it did conflict though are the established storytelling of the New Who especially those that were under the Moffats-era.
So, if you don't know what you're talking about or perhaps you're simply not paying attention, then shut up.
@@mightyactionx9391 I've been watching Who since as long as I can remember that's nearly fifty years so don't be so sanctimonious as to tell me what I know or payed attention to or to shut up!
@@forgivemenot1 Because you sound like you really don't know what you're talking about. You don't like the Timeless Child storyline and yet praised the Tom Baker era where that storyline had actually originated 45 years ago.
@@mightyactionx9391 I don't like the timeless child because Chibnall retconned the entire series so that the first Dr wasn't the first Dr and he wasn't even a Timelord among other things but please go on and tell me more about how much I don't know, and I praise the Tom Baker era simply because he was my favourite Dr, who had some of the series best episodes which compared to Chibnall's run is like comparing Shakespeare to Dr Seuss except Dr Seuss was actually good and Chibnall not so much.
the story was way too short. I would have had it at least 3 parts.
Thank You Tom!!1 I did!
Good episode
Would be funny if the globes were unused props from Star Wars. Found in a box at the back of a studio somewhere. Strangers things have happened.
But they filmed this out at Dortmoor, Devon in 1974 no?
@@michaeldunne338 Doh ! Your right. Though he is a time lord...so.....jelly baby ?
@@townsville69 That he is, a Time Lord ... :-)
And Ark in Space came before Alien. So, some interesting seasons there, with a bit of foreshadowing.
Just the transmat beam seemed a bit of a trailing theatrical device ... think the T-Mat and / or Transmat beam showed up in shows after Star Trek got popular with "beam me up, Scotty" ... ? ... :-)
Uh uh uh...I thought we were still on The Ark in Space...
So do I
@@cosmichobo4216 they keep jumping so much it was Castrovalva last time. I think i know why they are doing it because we have season 12 & 19 come out together in the standard editions
