@@eastwaters4082 Silence of the lambs, comes to mind....hell, even watching shit like "Narcos"will get you shook because it happened and it happens to this day. In one scene in Narcos season 3 a drug lord walks into a little night club where his rival is partying, he calmly, cooly, dressed in a silky ornate Versace shirt glides in, walks up to the bartender and orders one bottle of liquor and request one song, "Dos Gardenias by Angel Canales". He proceeds to walk calmly over to his very armed and dangerous rival and offers him the bottle of liquor as a gift and shakes the mans hand and says basically "Let's let bygones be bygones"..then he proceeds to take the dance floor....the floor clears...The drug lord proceeds to call on his dance partner...which happens to be another man..He dances a very sensual and elegant dance with this other man right in front of his rival, even kissing and making out with the man a few times during the dance, showing no shame at all, meanwhile making the entire crowd and his rival very very uncomfortable. After the dance ends he bows, everyone is in shock still, then he walks calmly towards his enemy and tells him something, then smashes him over the head with the very bottle of liquor he gifted him, after that his rival is dragged out of the club and tied to 4 separate motorcycles, they tear him limb from limb and make his brother watch it happen, then ride off. That really happens in real life....nothing more frightening than real monsters like that. That drug lord was the Devil that night....not a drug kingpin, not a thug...he was the devil himself and they watched the devil dance under the pale moonlight, right before he sent a man straight to hell.

Victor was the man in the balcony terrace section of the open ball room. He's the one who recognized Bill off the bat and informed the higher ups of his presence as an outsider. But, I do think Victor emulates Red Cloak and subconsciously longs to be him and have his powerful position. That's why he mimics his gestures on the pool table. Perhaps to even scare Bill into making him think he IS Red Cloak to keep him safe and end his mission to figure out what happened.

    • @gringofett3944
      @gringofett3944 4 года назад +189

Its more subtle than that. He is emulating Red Cloak to show that he is connected to him that he is one of the higher ups, but not so high that he cant be punished. The implication is that Ziegler allowed Bill access to the party and because of that he had to ensure that he was not going to be a threat or he would pay the price.

Yeah, just because of the parallels in those scenes doesn't mean Red Cloak and Ziegler are the same identity. The video calls attention to the 'London fashion designer' reference in the newspaper article, and to Red Cloak's English accent -- but then, apparently, we're supposed to forget about those and accept that Red Cloak and Ziegler are one and the same. 'But the scenes with Red Cloak were just a dream anyway, he was merely symbolic of Ziegler,' it says. Then how come Ziegler, back in 'real' life, has the same memories of what happened at the mansion as Bill, without Bill having told him about it?

Here's what I think: 1. Ziegler wasn't Red Cloak, the accent gives that away. Ziegler was the guy in the sailor mask who nodded at Bill and tried to help him later (by sending a woman over to him, no doubt to bring him into a side room and make him seem less out of place).
    2. Ziegler tapping things twice and mimicing Red Cloak was just subliminal messaging about how he wishes he were at that same level of power and status, but isn't.
    3. Red Cloak was that Vitali guy detailed in the newspaper.
    4. Leon Vitali was based on Les Wexner, the head of Victoria's Secret who has since been implicated as being at the top of a lot of the Epstein stuff (but never actually "outed" or charged in any way).
    5. Ziegler was based on Bill Clinton, and if one looks hard enough you can find pictures of Bill/Hillary from a 1998 Christmas party that are dressed exactly like Ziegler and his wife at the Christmas party in this movie.
    6. Bill is based on JFK Jr, wearing the same suit and long coat JFK Jr were known for wearing, and with the same exact haircut. In scenes where you only see him from behind, it looks exactly like JFK Jr.
    7. Kubrick died right before this movie came out and JFK Jr died right after. I think Kubrick stepped on some toes he wasn't supposed to, and JFK Jr also ran afoul of the wrong people (maybe by rejecting them).
    8. The large amount of cut footage which nobody has ever seen since: The studio wasn't going to just not release this movie, as it was bound to make a lot of money since people wanted to see Cruise and Kidman. So instead they just slashed the movie's runtime to remove anything remotely offensive to the wrong people. There are two things that I think were cut in particular that would make the whole third act actually make sense:
8a: Kidman's character was at the party as well and had somehow become part of the whole thing, or maybe she always was. She shows signs of dissociation during the movie and clearly has some mental instability. Also the next day she talks about her "bad dream" and it sounds exactly like the party. This made no sense and was never explained.
8b: Red Cloak and friends act like Bill saw some sort of crazy business at the party that no one can find out about, lest it bring all of them down. Except...he didn't really see anything particularly crazy. Just naked women walking around and a vaguely occult ritual. Nothing that'd necessitate killing him, or cause him to be in complete mental breakdown for the remainder of the movie over what he saw. So I think that in addition to his wife being there, there were also a lot of (very) young teens or even kids in the vicinity. Nothing would be shown in terms of them being assaulted, but I think they were shown being led off into rooms and things of that nature, to let us know the depths of the depravity at this event.
    9. That last scene where they just sort of let their daughter wander off with two random guys...doesn't make any sense either, unless they've become a part of the depravity and part of their initiation is to be okay with that kind of thing.
    10. Kubrick was one of the most important figures in Hollywood, and would have been let in on a lot of inner circles. He didn't actually identify with any of these "fellow elites" and this movie was him shining a light on their activities without going too far with it. You can get away with a lot in the context of moviemaking and storytelling (much like comedy can effectively expose the elites). "Eyes Wide Shut" is referring to the lower classes and how blind we are to see what's right in front of us.
Just some theories. And now I'm probably on a list somewhere.

The scene where the girl is taken by the random men is probably meant to make sense if they dint cut the 26-20 minutes of the film, that's why in the end the spouse is disappointed because when bill came to the mansion they made him have sex with his daughter, that's why they gave him the letter to " give up inquiries which are useless" because they already taped him doing nefarious things so if he talks he will be publicly ostracised

      @sonikku9173 Год назад +72

I thought the same about point 8a, the dream is too much like the ritual, I would even say the movie touches on the subject of female hypergamy when Alice is helping her daughter with a math question, "Joe has $2.50 and Mike has $1.75. How much money does Joe have more than Mike?", Alice is teaching her daughter to evaluate men on how much money they have and then looks at bill with a strange smile.

Zeigler was clearly the sailor mask on the balcony. He knows Bill, he saw him and straight up recognised him, nodding at him. His wife was at his side.
Now, here's something that many people probably missed: Victor didn't want Bill killed, he knew Bill was in terrible danger and tried to save him.
Remember the scene when Bill stands watching the orgy, and Victor along a masked hooker appear at this back? I have the theory that Zeigler basically told the hooker to take Bill with her to another room, to hide him from everyone else, but then Mandy arrives and snatches him away.
My point is that Victor knew Bill was walking towards the wolf mouth and he tried to save him, but failed.

I guess he also saw that Bill had cheaper clothes than the other members at the party. He rented the cape and mask from a regular store. I am sure that the rich people at the party didn't. As people have pointed out, Ziegler is not red coat, he's the guy in the sailor hat, and his wife, with the tear drop, (symbolism) is next to him.
People often point out that Ziegler tried to help Bill by sending over the girl at the orgy, and that he also may have had influence in Bill being allowed to leave with only a warning. This is consistent with Bill "saving Ziegler's ass" earlier in the movie, and even though Ziegler's a piece of crap, he probably had some sense of honour towards a brony who'd really helped him out.
Also, I think that the Ziegler party was largely a recruiting party, and he was bringing Bill and Alice in because they were young, horny and of the correct moral disposition. The real red coat, that Hungarian guy, had already taken a liking to Alice. And Bill was about to break through with the two model/hookers. Had Ziegler not screwed it all up by ODing his mistress, both Bill and Alice would have been nicely initiated, and likely would have ended up at the mask party as invited guests. So Ziegler felt responsible about screwing up that aspect of it too.

A true sociopath, drinking her drink with no fear of being slapped (negative reaction) showing his beyond human power (in his mind) and then tries to kiss her several times after knowing the husband is just around the corner. The girls work for the hungarian somehow and served has the perfect distraction. Hungarian his red cloack. That last scene also includes a black baby carriage, an allusion to 'Rosemary's Baby,' which was explicitly about satanists.

I am of the same opinion that it's not a coincidence that S K died so suddenly after having a row with the production company about some scenes of his film, that he insisted were not to be cut out. Just imagine what this movie would have caused among the people who watched it and were forced to open their eyes to an ugly truth.
My comment is about the content of the movie. It's a trap to believe that Alice is a loyal wife just because she seems to be. Her beauty is a deception. The same goes for Ziegler. He seems to be a nice guy. But obviously he was surprised when Bill was successful in bringing the woman in the bathroom back to consciousness. Obviously there are recurring scenes of death or near-death in the movie, repeatedly telling us the link between sexuality as a life force, and death as a constant recurring element and theme of the movie.
It's like a repetition preparing us for the obvious. The natural death of his patient, the near-death in the bathroom, the death of the beautiful woman who sacrificed herself for him, the death of his friend Nick, the pianist, and the obvious death of Sally, the girl he met who was gone the next day...
It's obvious that another at least two deaths must have occurred during those thirty minutes that are missing from the movie.
It's a message that sex and death are constantly at their fingertips of the powerful ones. And they can have bodies move if they wish and how they wish, and they can have bodies made immovable if they wish, and how they wish.
Just as it happened to S K himself when he thought he was in a position to enlighten the world. He wasn't. He was just an artistic gifted slave to make money from and dispose of as soon as the profit made off of him, became dangerous.
It's not a movie about love in marriage, quite the contrary.
      The ending is sad, too.
And it's definitely not a coincidence that S K left for England. His proverbial fear of flying could be a way to prevent an accident and his death in the clouds.
It's more of a documentary than a piece of fiction. It's probably true even for the couple. His wife Christiane being Alice, and Bill being Stanley. And the toll all of it took on his marriage!!! Remember Alice didn't leave the house to work, and Christiane didn't leave the house for work, either, she was an artist and had a studio in their house.
Additionally, they had two daughters together, and strangely enough, none of them ended up having children!!!
Only Christiane's eldest child eventually became a mother of a son, Stanley Kubrick's step grandson.
It's obvious that there's more than one parallel between reality and the movie. I guess it's all true, and that's why it had to be cut the way the production company wanted to. The truth shouldn't come out. And it's obvious that we are handled like naive children are put in the mood with Christmas decorations, that were obviously the star of Ishtar and references to Babylon and its ancient culture.

Ziegler was the mask with the Black Tricorner Hat, the one that was directly eyeballing Tom Cruise and gave him the nod. It was not a dream sequence, because Tom Cruise went BACK to the mansion during the day, and they were waiting for him with a message and a warning to stop investigating into matters that don't concern him. Ziegler also discussed the mansion party with him at length. The 24 minutes that were cut out of the film may very well indeed may have shown that Nicole Kidman's character was at that mansion party getting boned, perhaps by the red cloak himself.

However this casting may just have been to throw us off track, kind of like four different actors were needed to create the one and only Lord Darth Vader. I always assumed Red Cloak is the guy who hands Bill the "stop your futile inquires" letter when he returns the day after. Think about it..
The car is stod just around the bend in the road waiting for Bill (they've clearly tailed him all day and thus knew he was coming). Red Cloak (who presumably owns the manor) wants to threaten Bill personally - but can't use his voice since Bill heard him speak - so he hands him a letter and just stares him down. He then gets in the passanger seat of the Bentley and some goon drives him back. I think Bill also knows that this is Red Cloak, they really look very intently at each other.
He has the same exact build too and just has that old-money look about him. I think it's just Kubrick being checky - showing us who it is but not implicitly stating it to keep it ambiguous.

According to lore of the missing footage as told by oliver stones son marc stone the missing scene shows the uncloaked red leader and its the guy nicole Kidman is dancing with. There is said to be 24 missing minutes. In that 24 minutes... It shows nicole Kidman become a part of the ritual which explains the trancelike state she is in and the character they obbiously set up for a reason but never used. Also explains the nightmares and flashbacks shes refering to in the movie and why shes so at ease with that mask. And if you wanna get creepier.... Nicole kidman is a real life monarch mk ultra victim and her dad is her handler. So that real life fact tied into her being chosen to play that role is even fucking creepier.

No, the movie is obviously about sexual abuse and trafficking of women among people with money and influence in society, something that has been more and more exposed in the open the last years; with the #meetoo campaing in front but was much more hidden back in the 90s when Kubrick made the film. The satanic like ritual is put there to give it a more dramatical effect, it is not meant to be interperated litterally, but as a metaphor how evil some powerful people can be beyond their respectable masks. I dont believe there is any Illimunati, just evil networks among influential sickos. Money and power has until recently been enough to get away from such filth.

I was always under the assumption that the man in the red cloak was a man which Bill's wife was dancing with at the beginning party. Listen to their conversation; the art interest he had. It seems, I always felt, that the dream sequence was more the first part of the film. Not a dream, that is, but the disguise these people portrayed to the rest of the world.
To them, the glittery Christmas Party was what they wanted the world to see them as...the gathering which Bill attends later at the mansion, is them with their masks off (pardon the pun), showing their true selves. Everyone at the first party was at the second. The man on the balcony, at the second gathering, who tips his hat to Bill, THAT was Zeigler. And yes, that woman next to him was his wife with him, not some hooker. She was part of the action as well. The naked girl who Zeigler tries to originally pass off to Bill at the mansion, seems to be Nuala (from the first party too).
Anyway, just my own take on it. Watch again, look at their heights and builds at the party, size off each person with a mask on to compare to see who is who, how they walk, speak, mannerisms. You'll soon see who is who.

    • @hasenfangmusic
      @hasenfangmusic 3 года назад +53

P.S. The tapping Zeigler does at the end, seems to show more of his devotion to the cult personality of this tribe he is with. The red cloak guy, taps the stick with his left hand. Zeigler taps the ball with his right, at first. Then moves the chalk begrudgingly with his left. I don't think this portrays him as the leader, who seems to do these mannerisms by ritual, not by force of habit through conditioning. Acolytes do things out of force of habit, as they are brainwashed into acting this way. Zeigler is not tapping to give away he is the red cloaked guy, he is tapping as a conditioning to get him through the conversation he is having with Bill. A reassurance of who he is trying to speak for.

It's not a dream sequence. We are set up to think that maybe it was.
Because he was under the influence.
But it takes more than 1 joint to have a dream sequence like that first of all.
It's probably why Kubrick chose the least mind altering drug he could.
Plus the mask on the pillow it is a hyper-reality sequence.
And don't tell me it might not be real, because it's never acjnowledged by Alice, because Bill isn't under the influence. There is no reason he should see it. You can say it is a manifestation of his guilt, but that is no more reaching than say..... the daughter being given away to 2 old members of the secret society.
They send her off, plain as day. This was the price, he was warned not once, but twice.
Warned that he AND his family would face the most DIRE consequences.
Watch and listen to Alice's words carefully and bare in mind she and he can not openly talk about any of this.
Kubrick is telling us to remember the girl, remember the girl.
"Look at this, look at this".
She is looking for attention more than she is at the presents, especially from the mother whom she looks up to.
But then she disappears around the corner with the 2 old men members of this secret cabal, yes we know they are members because we see them at Zeigler's Christmas party talking together at the begining of the film. NOT a coincidence. 2 men last seen with Nightngale. NOT a coincidence. Mandy the hooker last seen with 2 men. NOT a coincidence. And Helena disappearing with 2 men.... NOT A COINCIDENCE.

Zeigler Isn't the Red Cloak. The man dancing with Kidman (Sandor Szavost) at Zeigler's party is. His voice is exactly the same, Kubrick was a perfectionist, he wouldn't show a character for no reason. The guy shares the same name with Szandor LaVey, who was the founder of the church of satan. He was called "The Father of Satanism", "The Black Pope" The orgy/party was filmed at a Rothchilds mansion, the song was sang backwards its pretty obvious they were satanists. Victor Ziegler, is of German-Jewish (mason) origin, like Rothschild. The english Royals are also of German-Jewish origins and you can see them wear similar masks (google it) Kubrick insisted a scene from the orgy to be shown but when he died, the film of the scene went missing and was never shown. Its rumored to have kids/babies in it.

    • @docbrown7558
      @docbrown7558 7 лет назад +109

His voice, accent, and the way he talks sounds identical to Sandor, as well as the way he asked questions. At the party Sandor constantly asks Alice questions like he was trying to recruit her. He kept going on about how he adore's the Renaissance era, time when the powerful indulged in debauchery without reprisal (Masked parties) When they are dancing you see star's in the background which is a symbol of Ishtar(goddess of sex, desire, fertility, war, combat, and political power) her cults known for ritual acts of love making believed to bring success and power. Ishtar's most famous myth is the story of her "trip into the underworld" (google Ishtar) At the Mansion, you see the pope preparing women for sex doing some kind of black magic type ritual. Kubrick didn't name him after the "black pope" for no reason. He names each character carefully (Nightingale= Bird that sings at night, Domino= A costume consisting of a hooded robe worn with an eye mask at a masquerade, Ziegler= Mason, Milich (who prostitutes his kid)= yielding milk or suitable for milk production, Mandy= lovable, also a character from the oz books (she was a personal slave of the royal ox) The movie has a lot of symbolism from the wizard of oz "over the rainbow" known programming/Mk ultra to create sex slaves, Helena= shining light (in mythology the abduction of Zeus's mortal daughter Helen, sparked the trojan war. You can see at the end she gets abducted by the 2 men) Also the password for the mansion Fidelio means faithfulness (very mason) Also a name of an opera written by beethoven about a wife who sacrifices herself to free her husband from death as a political prisoner (again, symbology) Every small detail connects and has meaning, thats what makes Kubricks films so interesting, you find something new everytime you watch it.

I maybe wrong, its my guess. He sounds identical to me (my grandfather is an english man so I know what you mean about his accent) seems like there are many connections with Sandor and the pope. • @DeepScreenAnalysis
      @DeepScreenAnalysis 7 лет назад +41

Sandor was definitely at this ritual but he wasn't the Master of Ceremonies. The owner of the House is Red Cloak and he appears when Bill goes back the next day, he stares at him coldly and gives him a letter warning him to stay away a second time. He's a creepy looking old man and one of the elite families who rule the world (think Rothchilds). Remember he gets out of a chauffeur driven car, he's not a gate watcher. He's driven up from the main house.

And it's obvious that we are handled like naive children are put in the mood with Christmas decorations, that were obviously the star of Ishtar and references to Babylon and its ancient culture!!!!

In the 1st century, there was no "church". "Synagogue" was the name for the church, because the people of God at that time was the nation of Jesus, the Jews. That's what the Bible says, sorry. And the expression "synagogue of Satan" means false believers, false church. So "false church" today is not the synagogue, but false Christianity. When Christians blame it all on the Jews, they fail to see that apostasy appears always in God's church, just as Daniel and Paul said (see 2nd Thessalonians 2, 2 etc.). If CHristians are God's people, apostasy must appear in Christianity! In the time of Jesus, God's church was the Jewish religion; later on, it was Christian church. And Paul said clearly, following Daniel, that the Man of perdition was to put his throne in the midst of GOd's church, persecuting the remnant. He did not mean Jews for certain. Because since 70 AD, Jews are the persecuted ones, not the perecutors... While ROme has always been the persecuting power and will be so till the end of time. Just read you Bible as it is written... if you dare... As for Jews, and any other nation, there are the faithful and the unfaithful ones. And read Romans 11, as to Jews and us, the Gentiles. We must all be humble facing the Judgement of GOd...

There's no way the orgy was a dream sequence, for so many other characters were privy to it throughout the film. The novella's title, in which the film is based Dream Story, probably refers to the dream that the doctor's wife had about the naval officer that spearheaded his wild night. Ziegler was the man in the bauta mask w/ the tricorn hat that seemed to know Bill.

I think the red cloak character seems to be protesting way too much. The activities that Bill witnessed were not illegal, so the response seems way out of proportion. I suspect the supposed missing film could have had something that was extremely incriminating, maybe like underage sexual activity or child sacrifice etc.

Rob T, Hello. I and Many people agree with you ! I think you hit the nail right on the head. I think The film cut a lot of incriminating stuff. Like when Tom Cruise was looking for a costume to wear in that costume Shop he saw a Father that was Prostituting his Underage Daughter, played by Lelee Sobrieski. There may of been much more revealing stuff to this scene. But was probably cut out !

    • @robt8042

I though the costume shop scene was the introduction to naive viewers child prostitution etc (very shocking and disturbing for majority of people) but I think there should have been something more at the house with red cloak. Also the girl at the morgue (dead prostitute that supposedly warned Bill) may be the human sacrifice that is not as obvious and for me brings it into real life where we hear about famous young attractive people "suicided".

I find all this debate fascinating but calling people idiots for not agreeing with this analysis is childish.Kubrick always said if the viewer of one of his movies didn't leave with as many questions as answers he hadn't done his job.Whether or not they are literally Satanists or bored corrupt socialites or partly dream partly real the image ry shows how it is about corruption and denial and loss of innocence.Kubrick was a Freudian and athiest. All the differing and strongly held opinions just remind us what a truly great filmmaker he was.The idea he was murdered I find ridiculous. He wasn't young, worked his arse off and demanded perfection in himself.A fascinating piece thank you sir I need more money also to see some of your other pieces.Kubricks version of Lolita also warrants more study.RIP Stanley and thank you.

This movie has always both intrigued and disturbed me. It's difficult for me to pinpoint exactly why. But I suspect it's rooted in the more primal, darker areas of my soul. We all have felt jealousy, lust, fear, regret, rejection, and paranoia at some point in our lives. Most of the time we try to suppress or deny such feelings. Yet, Eyes Wide Shut reminds each of us that those feelings existed; and in most instances, are still there. Deep down...they are still there

I’ve seen another video suggesting that Kubrick was murdered because he refused to edit out of the film a piece about 17-20 minutes long, that some powerful people didn’t want in the movie. Apparently, in the original cut, Red Cloak had a French accent. Revealing that Red Cloak was actually the French Naval officer who incessantly kept hitting on Nicole’s character and that the dreams she would tell her husband about, about being naked at wild parties and servicing many men one after another, were in fact not dreams at all, but actual memories of true events (within the context of the film) that had happened to her while these same people her husband was involved with, were using her as a mind controlled sex slave! Apparently, Kubrick was warned to remove that footage and he refused. Not long after, he was found dead. Before the films release, the edits were made and the revealing footage removed! Kubrick was actually blowing the whistle on the Cabal! And they killed him because of it!

The tragedy is that he does not have any strong fantasies like her. No matter where he is, even at the biggest orgy he can not reach "justice" as in having an equally strong desire like she has. All his attempts at sexuality seem fake or theatralic (he finds himself in a literal sex ritual). It is a movie about a men not understanding female desire. If she was actually with him at the ritual and if she actually had a lot of sex it would ruin the story. The point is that her fantasy is stronger than any reality he could ever participate in.

Also interesting is that after Alice confesses to Bill about the Navy officer Bill is called to the apartment of the man who just died and he is wearing his tux. I doubt he would be so formal to put on a tux to go out in the middle of the night. Maybe I tie but not something so time consuming to put out. I believe this is when the "dreamstory" begins

When Bill H. enters the main hall of the mansion for the second time, the two guys behind Red Cloak are wearing blue/purple cloaks at 6:20.
At 3:53 in the billiard room, blue light illuminates the scene, and I become more and more convinced the blue light means 'exposure,' as in a flash bulb, and all the blue light bathed scenes contain an admission, confession, something's exposed, bared or revealed, and an Aha moment.

My 2 cents after watching the film for the 1st time last night.. my interest is with what was within the 24 minutes that was cut. For me, it's clear that the man Kidman's character dances with was to be a larger part of the story arc of the film. That he featured so strongly then vanishes is strange to me. I feel the same about the underage girl in the dress shop. Her whispering to Cruise's character and her behavior around him had more potential meaning than the final cut we see allows.
For me, both of these characters' parts, most likely within the Mansion/orgy scenes were what was likely a large part of what was cut. I think the underage girl and probably other underage characters with her at the mansion were scenes that cut too close to the truth for certain elements. We know more about the darker side of Hollywood now, regarding abuses of young actors etc, but in 1999, Kubrick perhaps got a little too close to actuality with his depictions.

To be fair, we can only be certain that Amanda was a prostitue. Ziegler's wife, who I presume to be the woman with the teardrop mask, would also be of the elite.
Sidenote, I like to believe that Amanda and Domino are the same person. The random HIV thing thrown our way near the end feels too lazy for Kubrick.

There are 2 Red Cloaks, one that wears normal dress shoes and walks around but doesn't speak or sing (played by a dancer called Russell), then the seated one with the English accent (Leon Vitali) who wears 6" platform shoes. The vocals are not Red Cloak but coming from Nick's audio gear as part of his live performance. Red Cloak walks on a red surface, Ziegler does not; he walks around outside the red pool table, representing the carpet. Red and gold is a key linking clue found elsewhere in Eyes Wide Shut such as the woman in a red dress wearing gold shoes at the Zieglers' party, gold stars on red gift wrap in Domino's apartment and so on.

I dont think the chanting audio was being played at the mansion, I think it was just played to give the scene atmosphere but not actually what the people there were listening to because we can see Nick playing piano and the chords he is playing doesn´t match the audio from the chant music. Same with the simple staccato piano notes being played when Bill is confronted by Red Cloak.
