    How about using a CPL filter? Or do you prefer using a high shutter? I realize that it is an action shot, but would you benefit from one of those filters?

    Thanks Matt! Great video! I'm a newbie, bought my first camera 18 months ago and my speed lights only last month. I'm working on a dynamic sport portrait project with my kids' school and I'm learning a lot from your videos. I'm very eager to try it out myself soon! (my budget was not huge but I did get two Godox AD300Pro and a Smallrig RC120D, with 120cm (47in) softbox, one strip box, a reflector and a parabolic softbox; I realize now that I would probably need a deep focus reflector, but I'll try it out with what I've got and take it from there). It's really helpful to have your videos and tips!

    Would you do some videos on photographing with one light for those who may not be able to afford the setup you are using? I have an Explor 600, but can’t swing another light at the moment. I would like to take more dramatic sport’s portraits. Thanks for any insight you can provide.

    Short,Sweet and Honest-> SSH : Couldnt you crank up the Aperture to f22 or something and then lower the SS tothe one you sync with an extra short strobe duration like 1/125 or something?

      Yep! The FJ400’s battery is good for 400+ full power flashes

    Matt if you're reading this, how are you getting so much light output from the strobes at those camera settings? I know if I did the same I wouldn't get the same results.

    • @MattHernandez
      @MattHernandez Год назад +1

      I think it had a lot to do with the court and it reflecting up and helping fill the light on the model.

    • @MattHernandez
      @MattHernandez Год назад +3

      But also I DID have 3 lights in use, and those deep focus reflectors have a pretty high output. The sun also helped with fill on the ones where she was facing it

    Great information. Newbie question though about your preferred focus method or setting when taking these types of shots. Are you just grabbing a single point auto or using servo and eye focus enabled?

    Any Sony A7iii photogs know if this camera can do high speed sync with the FJ400? I tried some Alien bees and got rejected with a black portion of the photo. Any tips on setting r appreciated. 💡

    I think I asked this before but not sure if I ever got a response. How do you focus? In other words, what focus method are you using when shooting the action shots, especially through the net. Also with the system wanting to focus on the closest subject, how did you get her eyes and face sharp instead of focusing on the end of the racquet?
    Thanks!

    Another informative video, Matt. Thank you. How do you determine aperture? In many of your videos it seems shutter speed takes center stage. Maybe in your next video go into detail about aperature size? Shutter speed controls ambient light in making the background dark, but just when I think I figured out best practices for establishing aperture, I fall flat on my face :)

    It is redressing to see clean photography vs forced smoke and random athletes jumping around with no clear purpose :) Great work as always. I wish my FJ400s were reliable, otherwise I would buy 4-6 more. They literally have a mind of their own. Even with the most current firmware upgrade. Unfortunate :(
