Same! I was hooked on The Townsends first, then found Justine’s channel, and now Ron’s. Love them all! ❤️ PS: you guys are all kinds of adorable together.
Yes, Living History is the best way to teach history and learn history. I agree Justine, many history teachers are so very boring. I worked for National Park Service and participated in Living History events while in high school. I miss that.
My wife and I agree with Ron, Justine is very cute. Together you are an adorable couple. We are driving to Little Rock in August and hope we can visit Ste. Genevieve on the way.
You are so right, Justine! About history in school being boring. It's nothing but names and dates and laws and wars. Nothing to compare it to. And Ron, you hit the nail on the head with taking your kids to an event or historical place so they can EXPERIENCE history. We were fortunate enough to have parents who realized that and they inspired us. Probably where our desire to live in the past came from. We all know that if we don't learn history, we are bound to repeat it. There's so much truth in that statement! You two keep doing exactly what you're doing and who knows how many children, or parents influencing their children, you will change and educate in ways the school system can not! P.S. Ron, you waistcoat is awesome! I was once told to look of the time period, you need to look like your Grandma's couch or curtains. I'd imagine that goes for rugs, too!😆
Constitutional attorney, KrisAnne Hall, has an amazing website where she's very passionate about US history and the law. She makes it all so interesting and exciting. Also, I love Justine and Ron. I wonder if Justine means justice. 🤔😊
We have made that dish for many years. It was my moms take on Swiss steak. It’s great with homemade noodles! Our town was hit with and EF3 tornado on Fri our town is devastated. 48 hospitalized and 2 deaths. Our neighbors brother is now paralyzed from the waist down😢 so many without homes. Stay safe in Your bad weather. As always love the videos 🌺
Me too! My whole life. This way and of course with hamburger steaks too. I make it with rice Justine. The kids are half and half on rice or mashed potatoes. But I love it with rice!!!
And I’m so sorry for the tornado. Texas was struck with a horrible mass shooting today. Again at a school. This 18 year old kid was mad that he wasn’t going to be able to graduate (this is the rumor as of now) and he got in an argument with his grandma. Not sure if he was raised by her or not. But in the course of the argument he ahoy her. Hasn’t been confirmed if she was actually murdered by the shot yet or not. And the kid took off in his truck and about a mile down the road he crashed off an embankment looking thing. Two men from a funeral home right beside there came to assist him and he took shots at them. I think he luckily didn’t strike them or at least not fatally. Details are not being completely released yet. Then the kid somehow wearing body armor and carrying two guns one an assault rifle of some sort and handgun with a backpack of ammo climbed a fence to an elementary school across the street and shot his way in killing all he came across and he perceives to be in his way. Mind you this was within three minutes. The kid supposedly ran to the school because he could hear sirens coming to the call about the wreck. It wasn’t his plan to go to the elementary school. And the brave police man they were on him. Several police were shot again we don’t know all the details. But because he was wearing body armor he wasn’t being taken down and kept shooting innocent little babies in school. And a few minutes in someone on SWAT went in and took him out. So so far they are saying 20 students and two adults are all that is confirmed to have died. Several in hospital in stable up to critical condition. Only one being a little 10 year old girl in critical and fighting for her life. So yeah another disgusting day in the good old USA! Those kids were about to be out for the summer in two days. And this guy just snapped and obviously he meant to go on a killing spree because he had all of that. But man why go in that elementary school? Just makes me so heart broken for these families. And all these babies that will have years of therapy to go thru now. And this was just a little kid too. A senior in high school. My son is 17. I just can’t imagine. So I’ll be praying for your area and you do the same for us here in Texas.
So sorry for what's happened & happening to y'all! God bless y'all! P.S. It was my mom's Swiss Steak & we ate it with mashed potatoes, rice or bread. God help y'all
Ron and Justine i have been binge watching all of your videos. I have to be honest i accidentally stumbled upon your other channel a few weeks ago. It was FATE i was listening to my 80's hair band in the shower then it somehow went to your channel 😅 im so thankful it did bc you 2 are my absolute most favorite channel. Ive always been very interested in early American periods. I also have webt to a few colonial places. My history sucks lol im also obsessed with Gettysburg ive been a few times. I would love to meet you both but sadly im in western NY. But it looks like where you 2 live i have a whole bunch of wild life i feed and 2 🦝🦝 ive raised up. Now on to the important thing that made me actually get my nerve up to comment here. JUSTINE YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS DONT COMPARE YOURSELF TO THE OTHER WOMEN YOU AND RON were talking about bc you are stunning. You remind me of my daughter Gabby she is 23. I wish you and Ron all the best and a happy marriage ❤ i cant wait to see your beautiful life unfold. Also the house is really coming along how wonderful!!!!! Ok its my turn to eat now lol and watch the rest of this video
Justine, you are beautiful inside and out. You and Ron are a very good looking couple. But really it's your personality that shines the brightest. I always look forward to your videos. Take care and God Bless 😁
I also love history and Outlander. The sets of their homes are just spot on. I rewatch on cd and pause just to look at the cabinets in the big house! Their costumes are perfect, no short cuts. I loved history all my life, even in grammar school. When I later was older and married my children always knew that if there was a roadside marker, the car had to stop and I would read it out loud for everyone to hear!
Awesome show! I am so addicted. First with, Early American and this! Thanks for doing this! Really. My first child is watching it with me sometimes. When I open youtube, "are you watching that show again, mommy?" 😂 Keep doing what you guys do. America needs you. Needs true history!
We enjoy watching Justine prepare food on EA then watching you both here for Chew & Chat! What a fun way to learn history! Thank you so much for taking the time to make these... we enjoy them a lot!🥰 Best wishes!!!
Ron is telling you how beautiful you are because he has taken the time to see your heart. Your heart shines through in your countenance. So you can believe you are beautiful.
I believe from when I was a kid that this country was meant to be. Yes I do believe in divine intervention. 👍I was born and raised in Philadelphia. The history here is awsome. But the people here pay it no attention. Hell, most of them don't even know it. Thats sad. I am also a half hour from Valley Forge Pa. It's 17 miles to Philadelphia. My uncle would take me and my brother to Valley Forge every weekend. It was great.
I also was born in Philadelphia and moved to the burbs at a young age. Just moved to Jersey shore from King of Prussia which is right next to Valley Forge. Our area is very important to the beginning of the United States 🇺🇸
I’ve been to the the great sights in Philly….I also was able to go to Washington DC , and to Boston and see the sites there and see the USS Constitition, old Ironsides herself! What a thrill! As a military vet I’m very passionate about our Rights. I’m a student of history and I believe this country is unique and our rights and freedoms are worth fighting for.
I love history, too. I love this land, was born in it,served in it's Army, raised my children in it! Try not to be too negative about the citizens,we are all busy, still struggling to survive even in this modern age...just in a different way. There is good and bad in all things,a real balancing act with us humans. Thank God we have a friend in Jesus!😊🙏
I made homemade mashed potatoes for the first time for dinner.. I know it's nothing crazy special lol but I was pretty proud of myself for not only making it from scratch but it tasted so dang good on the first try!! ✨️🤗😅🤍 Now I'm never going back to the box kind hahaha
If you have leftovers with the mashed potatoes add chopped up onions, combine both and make into the shape of a hamburger. Fry in a tiny bit of oil until the potatoes are golden brown. Great to eat with eggs in the morning
You two are so delightful! This was another great video! The dish looked delicious. Justine you were so pretty today, loved your hair that way, showed more of your beautiful face. Your dress was pretty also. Love your videos!
You are so right about history...there's is so much more than what is in history books. I was lucky as my mother was into history and when we went all over the US she was hands on about the history there and I want to say thank you Mom.
You both are just the best. I LOVE watching your videos. You are both so kind to all and the love you have for each other is so refreshing and adorable. Please keep making your videos. I learn an interesting fact, (or facts!), from you two every time I watch! Very knowledgeable and entertaining! Thank you!! Hugs from Sara in Boston, Massachusetts. ❤❤❤
On this early morning it is so relaxing to watch Ron and Justine...peaceful, lighthearted, they even said Grace before supper...the storm outside...such a wonderful channel. Thank you.
Everything about your channel I love. Yes history in school was no fun until I started reading and learning from RUclips and history channel. You both are like family. Calm, Cool, Teachers, Very careing. I look forward to each show it like being back home growing up. Good true family value. God bless You both. Until next time, Take great care!❤🇺🇸
And by the way, you both are beautiful inside and out and there’s that! I also love the sound of rain. We are in a drought here and celebrate every drip! Love your channels!
When my son was younger, we would take him to Gettysburg every year. We would go camping with the scouts or on our own, but you need several weeks to enjoy all the history it has to offer. Being from a few hours away from Gettysburg and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania has so much history that everyone can enjoy.
I agree with you guys about the boredom of history classes in school. I think that kids need a bridge that connects the relevance of the events to the culture of today. It wouldn't hurt if it was taught in a fun and engaging way such as you mentioned with Pioneer Days, and other reenactment events, and field trips to historical sites and museums....even projects for play acting the lifestyle in class.
I love your channel, but I really wish someone would do something like this, but based in Haydock, Lancashire, England from the same time period. The reason is because I have ancestors from that region and time period that I’m a little obsessed with, and I would very much love to be able to see something like this about what their lives were like. I like how you are both calming and educational, while still making it entertaining. If anyone does know of anyone who does something similar in the area I mentioned, please let me know. I would happily watch both.
I've been watching both channels for about a month now and I'm hooked!! I just adore you two and think your the most adorable couple ever. When I first started watching I was so glad to see you were a real couple. I've always been fascinated with early American history and would love to meet you. I'm a born and raised Hoosier so I'm not to far from you. Do you live like this in the cabin full time? I hope so lol
Hi Ron and Justine ,the meal looks delicious ! I had a birds nest on my Christmas wreath that I hung on my door .It was so great watching the mama and babies from the door window while I was inside the house !
Here you go Ron: The word "tornado" is an altered form of the Spanish word tronada, which means "thunderstorm". This in turn was taken from the Latin tonare, meaning "to thunder". It most likely reached its present form through a combination of the Spanish tronada and tornar ("to turn"); however, this may be a folk etymology.
Born and raised in SW Virginia. We still have many homes from the 17 and 1800s where I live. We have documents in our county seat signed by our founding fathers. We have a Lewis and Clark conne tion here. My ancestors have lived here since the 1600s including Jamestown. My ancestors faught in the Revolutionary War, Civil War, WWI and II, Korea, and Vietnam. My step kids would ask where are the battlefields. I'd say you're in it. Literally. I am thankful I was brought up on all this history as well as being thankful fot you bring history to life.
I’m so happy I came across your channels! I’ve been binge watching your videos since I found them the other day! Thank you for sharing these wonderful recipes with us! Love your channels!
Watching you guys is so relaxing and interesting what a simpler/ harder time it was then but better in my opinion. Thanks for what you guys do. I am addicted to your channel
I'm 70. Our school took us to all those types of places. I grew up in CT. I lived with my Grandparents and we would go to those type of places too. New England has great places. I live in Massachusetts and we would even go here. When I lived in UK it was the same thing. That food looks great.
I would love to see your gardening and hunting. Justine your so talented cooking over an open fire. I'm so excited to continue to follow you and Ron. I had a great American history teacher in high school. While studying the colonial period we followed our study of the period with preparing food from the period. My task was to milk a cow and make butter. As an Irish American I'm not ever going to England, ever.
I totally believe in divine intervention, God's hand is always at work, if we could see with eyes spiritually. Your cabin seems so cozy and delightful! Enjoy your videos so much, wish I could have attended Patriot Days, would love to meet you both! Darn, I live in Oregon🙂. Love that you bless your food, and all your recipes, your dishes always look so yummy. I will have to try this one!
Yes, divine intervention, you know it!! I so appreciate that you prayed before you ate. I kept feeling like you would do that. Praise the Lord! Love your channel, so special you are bringing these lost traditions to us, especially frontier America. God bless!
I love your egg box. Eggs keep fine unrefrigerated, I also love your milk pan and have been searching everywhere for a small one like it so finally took a screen grab and will ask a potter to make me one to use when I am demonstrating butter making… I once interpreted eggs and carried a basket and just talked all day about eggs. Can you believe some people didn’t know turkeys and ducks lay eggs? Also that they don’t lay during the winter time (1800s). Year round egg laying is a modern development from selective breeding and artificial lighting.
Ron you were in High School in 2008? I was 58 years old. I had a very good 8th grade history teacher Mr Campbell made it very interesting and I’ve love learning about history every since. I love both channels thank you for all your hard work. Justine you’re beautiful inside and out.
Ron, that is a GORGEOUS VEST!! That was my very first thought as I hit play. (The hat definitely doesn't match and makes your ears poke out. 😉) I 💖 these videos. I feel like I'm sitting across from y'all at the dinner table and having a conversation. From my cabin to your. 💋❤️
Just came across y’all’s videos this week!! I am enjoying them very much……Reminds me of the show “Taste of History” hosted by Chef Walter Staib…..he owned City Tavern in Philadelphia…..unfortunately Covid pandemic made it difficult to stay open….. But I’m really enjoying your videos! Living History!!
I started watching Early American about 7 months ago. I started watching when the video when Justine and Ron was first met. The video title "How to get a Man" I am so fascinated about early times in History especially about Cooking and traditions and customs of that time. The conversations between the two are purely innocent and refreshing. I really wish that we still had some of these customs and traditions today as we have gotten so far away from decency and honesty in these times.
Do you know what I find amazing? You rwo straddle the fence in between 2 time eras, but you have each other in both. Do you know what a wonderful gift that is? You two as individuals are not perfect(none of us are), but you make the perfect couple to both have such a devoted passion and be able to be partners in that, what a gift! I am enjoying both of your channels.keep the videos co.ing! And thank you for sharing your journeys.
Regarding salad and greens; when lettuce and spinach were gone, gardens had some greens all year. There was cabbage, turnip greens, collards, green onions, chives, and more.
If I was still in iowa I would have come down to meet you all in a hearatbeat ☺️ you two are becoming more and more natural in front of the camera all the time. I really enjoy both your channels ☺️
I just enjoy your video and the rain in the back ground very cosy Great food and enjoyable conversation. God bless you both. Nth Queensland Australia 🇦🇺 ♥
Be sure to watch Justine prepare this meal over on Early American heres the link- ruclips.net/video/SSWGOVa4yE8/видео.html&ab_channel=EarlyAmerican

I love rain on a tin roof it’s one of my top ten things in life that truly relaxes me.
Makes me hungry and sleepy. ❤️
That’s why your channel and Townsends make history come alive !!! It is believable ! Especially when you involve kids !
we doing it!
Same! I was hooked on The Townsends first, then found Justine’s channel, and now Ron’s. Love them all! ❤️ PS: you guys are all kinds of adorable together.
Ron you are so sweet to Justine, always telling her how beautiful she is! Loved your new vest! Always stay as you are, a very nice unique person.
That vest will look really sharp with your navy coat, Ron!
The ambiance on this one is just beautiful ❤️
Yes, Living History is the best way to teach history and learn history. I agree Justine, many history teachers are so very boring.
I worked for National Park Service and participated in Living History events while in high school. I miss that.

Ron and Justine ,you are a breath of fresh air ! Love watching you both .
Thanks Heidi!
My son is 14 and loves watching your videos! He wants to be a Professor of History when he gets older! He’s loved History since he was 5!
That is awesome!!!
My first thought when you mentioned the fallen tree, "more wood for Justine's fireplace!"
:D :D
Nothing beats living history guys x
The vibes are immaculate in this video. The heavy rain, the steak, the easy-going conversation. I love it all.💛
Glad you enjoyed it!
Justine, you are beautiful inside and out, and I love your giggle! This has been one of my favorite videos so far!

I love your content! And i really love how you all keep referencing the 1980s hair bands! Rock n roll ! And old times!
Glad you like them!

So early 1800s Salisbury Steak essentially. Looks comforting and tasty for sure.
I went to an 18th century event recently, and was served a huge slice of bread spread with pig fat, bacon, a hunk of cheese for dinner.
Justine, you are beautiful inside and out. You and Ron are a very good looking couple. But really it's your personality that shines the brightest. I always look forward to your videos. Take care and God Bless 😁

Oh I agree! Play act the different historical characters …it would help kids understand the thoughts behind the events they read about.
It was great growing up on the east coast with all the 13th history and taking the field trips to said spots.
Yay! Thank you!
Alway very entertaining😊😂
Beauty is in the soul and in the actions. Kindness counts for so much of beauty!
This is one of my favorite videos of y’all’s! The food looks delicious and I LOVE the rainy atmosphere. Fall vibes!! ❤️
Hi Ron and Justine ,the meal looks delicious ! I had a birds nest on my Christmas wreath that I hung on my door .It was so great watching the mama and babies from the door window while I was inside the house !
Here you go Ron:
The word "tornado" is an altered form of the Spanish word tronada, which means "thunderstorm".
Fellow Anne Boleynian! 🤘🏻 Me too - every movie, every docu, every book. 🤤 Hahaaaaa
Watching you guys is so relaxing and interesting what a simpler/ harder time it was then but better in my opinion. Thanks for what you guys do. I am addicted to your channel
Fact IS stranger than fiction! I loved hearing what you guys are talking about in this episode.
I'm 70. Our school took us to all those types of places. I grew up in CT. I lived with my Grandparents and we would go to those type of places too. New England has great places. I live in Massachusetts and we would even go here. When I lived in UK it was the same thing. That food looks great.
We've been making this dish for 40 years. We add in mushrooms and garlic. So yummy 😋.
Sounds great!
This meal looked fantastic, good job Justine!
Now I'm binge watching beef.
I can't wait to see your new kitchen in the new house 🥰
U. S. history definitely was not a favorite subject for me in school, but watching videos like yours that recreate history I enjoy watching.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This recipe would also be wonderful with homemade noodles!
Great dinner. Looked yummy Thank you for another charming video 🥰
Yes, divine intervention, you know it!! I so appreciate that you prayed before you ate. I kept feeling like you would do that. Praise the Lord! Love your channel, so special you are bringing these lost traditions to us, especially frontier America. God bless!
Sending love and blessings Justine and Ron … appreciation for the enjoyable humble content
I had to smile when you said "When I was in high school in 2008...." LOL. You are making a lot of us feel old...in a good way...but old.
Soaking the bread in gravy yummy
I love these videos! Thank you both for making and posting them!
Thanks for watching!
RON, THE VEST & HAT, LOOKED VERY PERIOD & GOOD!!!! Do take care. Fl.
Love watching you guys in your cozy cabin meals &way of life
I started watching Early American about 7 months ago.
The sound of the rain makes this video much more relaxing than it already is.
And dandelion greens wild
I think it is so cozy with the candles and the sound of the rain ❤️
Love the vest! Keep wearing it. Have a blessed day!
I love your food videos. I just wanted to say I think your dress is beautiful. The rain was great during the video. I just love you guys.
Thankyou thankyou🙂
If I was still in iowa I would have come down to meet you all in a hearatbeat ☺️ you two are becoming more and more natural in front of the camera all the time. I really enjoy both your channels ☺️
