    I hope Samsung start investing in Dex mode more and this monitor becomes a companion device for it. I also want to see the camera on that monitor be supported on conferencing software like zoom in Dex mode.

      Samsung needs to finish Tizen. There is a big gap in the market for tech interested people who want to divest from Google somewhat and don’t necessarily trust Apple either. Samsung is just another corporation, but a legitimate strategy for minimizing how involved you are with one company is to diversify. Windows or Linux laptop and then a separate phone and so on.

    Great introduction. Is Samsung ViewFinity S9 another matt screen? I wish it will be a glossy screen like Apple monitors. For me, I can ignore some glares but cannot ignore washed off colors. When most media consumers use a glossy screen like a phone or TV or laptop, I wonder why any media creator will want to use a glossy screen? Apple is again ahead of the pack in my opinion.

    • @TheThingKing

      Yeah sadly the Samsang Viewfinity S9 will have a matte coating finish just like 99.9% of Monitors out there. Glossy Monitors for PC users (Windows) will always be extremely rare and hard to find. The Alogic Clarity 27" 4K UHD Monitor is glossy, I'm going to pick one up because of this.

      Sadly apple doesn't play well with most monitors, my 4k ultrafine is the only one I have that does with my macstudio and it was a partnership. It's almost like they want us to limit our choices.

    I am not a fan of monitor’s built-in cameras and speakers. Those are not ideal for any user who needs dual monitors. On average, a monitor lifespan is at least 10 years, so who doesn’t like to upgrade web cameras and speakers?

    None of these guys seem to know what they're talking about.
    First, the Samsung M8 is not at all a Studio Display competitor, as it is neither the same size (32' instead of 27') nor the same definition (4k instead of 5k), which makes the pixel density gap even further, making the M8 an average 32' 4k which will not please mac users in terms of image quality and mac os scaling issues...
    They don't even remember whether the screen they are reviewing is 32 inch or not.
    - "so it's a 27' 5k, mmh no i'm not sure"
    - ''of you're probably reading the specs of M8 instead" (uh, no since the M8 is 4k)
    At the end of the review, I still don't even know the size of the monitor, congrats ! I guess the conclusion "the Samsung probably looks just as good as the studio display" is meant to describe the design of the screen and not the spec...
    So for those who are wondering, the Samsung VueFinity is a 27 inch 5K.
    So it is actually the competitor to the STUDIO display, and not even close to the XDR which is a 6K 32'.

I would wager Apple actually makes more of their phones parts than any other company. Besides the Pixel, the iPhone is the only phone running software made in house (besides Huawei maybe haha).

    Samsung wants to be Apple so bad. They are stuck as being..well Samsung, who doesn’t really have an equivalent, but their history and position prevents them from being the same kind of luxury brand that Apple is.
    Samsung should buy Dell and try to…actively not be Apple. Finish Tizen as a desktop-mobile OS (leverage the work in Linux from things like Proton and throw money at it to make it usable by normal people…that is literally what Apple did…not the Proton part but the throw money at the desktop until people took it seriously)
    Try to beat Microsoft while they are relatively weak and become the desktop standard.
    Dell has some experience selling Linux laptops, and Samsung has some experience working with Linux and building Linux software. It makes sense, and would allow them both to achieve their dream of beating up Apple (get intel on it too. They have their own in house Linux distribution, so they also know how to work with Linux. Just flesh out the user experience so that you don’t have to be a tech person to use it for anything more than surf the web and answer emails. But don’t Google it up. Leave the terminal and package manager and bash all there for people that want that but then never talk about it again and make it a full graphical experience for everyone else)

    I wish monitor manufacturers would make 5K+ monitors bigger, rather than cramming more pixels into 32-inches. It's far healthier for your eyes to have a slightly lower resolution monitor and place it further away.

    • @BookClubDisaster
      @BookClubDisaster Год назад +2

      Not at all. All else being equal, higher resolution is better for your eyes. Problem is people are clueless about how to scale/zoom/font adjust to make text bigger on higher res monitors.

    • @heroninja1125
      @heroninja1125 11 месяцев назад +1

      I feel like the replies have completely ignored what the comment stated. The distance of your monitor matters because you don't have to cross your eyes as much when it is further away. There is a reason that you will find eye specialists and doctors telling you to look at something 20 feet away every once in a while to relax your eyes, the human eyes are not designed to cross and stare at something directly in front of you for hours on end.
