Camaro VATS (Vehicle Anti-Theft System) Bypass

- This is a common problem for 3rd Gen Camaros from 89 - 92. There are different ways to fix it or bypass it. This is the low cost way to bypass! All you need is to follow the steps. You won't need to purchase anything to bypass it.
Common symptoms of VATS issues: Antitheft light on the dash does not turn on and shut off as it should, does not start, randomly starts and runs great but sometimes it won't start, feels like the starter isn't working, feels like the battery is dead, and overall you cannot rely on it always starting.VATS came out after 89 and your key will have a black chip on it.

Hey bro how did you manage to show on some frames the ignition key on the left side of your steering column and then on the opposite side the next frames????
My vats is on ,.I'm assuming because I disconnected the battery then reconnected ,.it.says roll down and up the window but it was already down when I disconnected and now it doesn't roll up? Any help thanks!
What up I have 87 camaro Berlinetta I did my First ls swap And I got a crank no start I have power at Ejectors In Coil. Packs And I have spark. And then dakota digital dash and every time I turn my key over my Cluster goals black I'm not Sure what I did wrong And I can't figure it out I don't know if.
It's doing it cause it's not fully Got tuned yet.or not Any help would be appreciated.

Sometimes people remove the bulb, so double check that. It should turn on for a few seconds and shut off.
My tilt is broke but I get no lights or anything on my dash when I turn the key will I need to replace the tumbler or will the bypass fix my problem?
That's going to require more work that just this. Sounds like an electrical problem over anything. Start by checking the fuses, then the wiring to the dash, then the bulbs and last the circuit board.
Have any videos on how to just get rid of the VATS system ?
If you do this you won't have to worry about it.

Yes between both of them. Just make sure one side is tapping one wire and the other is touching the other. 🤟🤟🤟

Test the ohms before! And then look up the resistance of the 15 dif codes.

I lost my keys to my Pontiac firebird v8. What's the best way to get a new set? Even if auto zone sell me a new key how do I bypass the chip
You will need to test out every ohms option. There's 15 of them. So out the correct ohms and wait a minute to see if the security light turns off. They sell kits on ebay of all the options or you can make your own.
I have to this to my 92 rs ....I can crank it over at starter but no power to the coil
Easy way is buy a small box from eBay. Number 1 - 15 . My 89 camaro was Number 4
My 91 camero started having these problems after I sprayed under the hood I did a security reset by pass cut the key on an off 3 times and it worked now it's back doing the same thing but now the security light not coming on it jus won't turn over
You're going to have to do a lot of wiring digging to find that problem, if it's an RS, you can also get a carb and fuel regulator and get rid of the computer
Probably better to measure the resistance and find a matching one instead of taking the one out of the key.
Anyway I can turn the ignition without a key?
By removing the ignition or removing the under dash panel and pulling on the metal shaft. However keep in mind if the vats isn't working the injectors won't open and the steering wheel could still be locked.
@@camaropartsgarage i lost the keys, Im not too worried about starting it rn I just need to move it, I need to turn the switch so that I can put it neutral.
@@garciajusmel99 you can remove the switch through the steering wheel or break the lock cylinder and do it that way.

I do that sometimes or make my own. It's the same thing. I just don't wait on ordering it. I wanted to bypass it without spending anything. They're only a few dollars, but it's safe doing it with the key resisor too.

@@camaropartsgarage it wasnt cranking over , with some motivation i found the starter is fried, so i put a new starter on , and im hoping this will work . im just giving it a day or something to get his shit together and start for me haha

How to i reprogram a key fob for a 2013
Why not just remove the V.A.T.S relay and jump the connector with a wire using flat spade terminals. Much easier.
This takes about 15 minutes and has always worked for me. Send in the instructions to your method and I'll try it in my next VATS challenge. Thanks for sharing
@@camaropartsgarage It is simple next to the fuse panel is the vats relay. The plug has 2 heavy gauge wires and 2 light gauge wires. Use a heavy gauge wire about 2 inches long with flat blade spades on each end. Put them into the plug where the relay was into the slots where the heavy gauge wires go to. All the vats does is read the chip and close that relay if the chip is the right one.
