- "Rock Around the Clock" is a rock and roll song in the 12-bar blues format and the best-known and most successful rendition was recorded by Bill Haley and His Comets in 1954.
Most bass tabs out there for this song have it wrong. This guy is true to the original song with the original key. He doesn't play the bass line boogie woogie style like you would think; He walks up to the Fifth, instead of emphasizing the Third. And he plays it upright style, in a higher octave. GREAT job sir.
Marshall Lytle played and upright bass and originated the slap bass technique. Listen again to the song and hear the click, click, click... which is Lytle's bass playing. And watch Craig Morrison's interview with Marshall Lytle.
still great 60 years later...can't believe it
Thanks for this. Not how I imagined it, but when I listen to the recording, I see that's right.
Very nice to see this new video! It just proves how versatile you are. You provide me so much motivation to learn and try new things..keep it up! You have my vote as the best bass guitarist on RUclips :-)
That Lakland bass is a joy to play and It's sounds pretty amazing :-)
Excellent cover!
I LOVE IT!!
doe zo verder, ik kijk altijd uit naar je nieuwe bass covers :)
Please do more of these '50s rock stuffs, like Elvis, Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochrane, whatever.
You're great man !
Great cover I had no idea until watching your cover how busy the bass line was in this classic tune
It's originally played on a double-bass (i.e., stand-up bass, bass fiddle, contrabass), which is also acoustic and fretless (unlike most electric bass guitars)... it was not played originally on a bass guitar....
Great job
Great Transcription, Great tone! Grazie ciao from Italy!
👍👍👍 nice
..........and taking you back in time :)
Awesome playing! 🙂
Awesome!
Shame on me. I forgot what a great song this is. This Infusion guy's pretty good. :)
Great Bass cover,my friend*****5+
Sounds GREAT --- Saint Bill would be proud ---
Some of those 50's style bass lines are mad difficult to play.
Watch Craig Morrison's interview with Marshall Lytle. Bill Haley actually gave him his first bass lesson. He describes how slapping is done.
yes, many of the 50's basslines are buried in the mix..
Black and white, Nice touch.
Gotta love the 12-bar blues.
Thanks for adding this!
Your welcome :)
Perfect transcription
The bass line on Spotify is different to this one. Is there two versions of this song? I checked out the youtube original and what your playing is on the money. What's going on with that???
Крутой бас!😉😊
👍♥️🤩yeaaaaaahhhhh!!!
BRAVO MAESTRO
Brilliant
sounds great
Great bass player, do you have the bass tab for it please can i ask for it. Thanks.
+cherfieldm Unfortunately i do not have any tabs. Sorry about that but just look at the video and listen...use the pause button and pencil and paper. Good luck :-)
+infusion26 Thanks you sir, you are a good and inspirational bass player.
GREAT ! I WISH YOU WOULD WRITE BASS TABS FOR ALL YOUR COVERS !!! BE COOL AND DO IT, I'D BUY IT !!!
I use Elixir coated bass strings.(roundwood)
I'm gonna make a cover like this:D
I have never play any song this old.
Oh yeah, let's see you play it on an upright now.
-just kidding... Great job!
great
always a great job and yes if you could play back in slow motion it would be great
Awesome! Is there a bit of chromaticism in this bass line?
Seems like. The bass during the guitar break goes A,C#,D,D#,E and back down again. Nice chromatic run. Not very typical rock bassline, more jazzy I think.
Not busy but a solid interesting groove
i really enjoy this which confuses me because i like edm songs

could you send me tabs , please?
Sorry no tabs here.
An unusual bass line. It uses scale movement instead of arpeggios.
Love the cover, but when I listen to the original it seems like the bass line stays the same through the guitar and sax solos. It's just the same all the way through... that's what I hear.
Hey, fantastic channel! I'm sure you will enjoy my video, so check it out and leave a comment! Have a great day! Cheers, Marc
Hey Marc, I listened to your last video. Nice voice. Great look. I read your bio on your website. Wow what a roller coaster. You live life the fullest. Keep on singing and make people happy with your music.
Thats in key of A. I play it in G
O no not me ....LOL.
We need to hear the bass not the loud music
Sorry, but what a flat sound compared to the original dubble bass! Please, come back Marshall Lytle !
You play it wrong... At least in the real version it starts from open A string you play it way too up and it sounds bad
It is played on the high A originally, but it sounds better on an upright bass of course.
