Voice of Baceprot (VoB) is one of the Indonesian metal band groups that speak out loud about social issues.
Marsya, the vocalist, revealed that the songs were explored from everyday experiences to reading references.

Voice of Baceprot (Ba-che-prot, translates as noise)
In Indonesia there are many metal bands, but they are from a small town, more traditional, in addition to their religion, it brought them a lot of problems. They threatened to kill them, they threw stones at the exit of a rehearsal, Marsya(vocalists) spat in his face.
The metal community supported them, with tours in Europe and the USA, being one of Tom Morelos' favorite bands
I love that Rock is a world music that transcends culture.

Imagine a group of teenaged girls in a conservative Muslim village in Indonesia, starting a heavy-metal rock group in the face of a societal resistance, including opposition by some of their parents. That is Voice of Baceprot. They started off posting covers of big-name western metal bands, before starting to release their own music.
They consider themselves faithful Muslims, and wear hijab on stage (with some enhancements, hence “the costumes”), but they still get opposition and even threats from people who are opposed to girls behaving this way (“baceprot” means “noisy” or “loud”).
“School Revolution”, ruclips.net/video/4aZX-C8HKJc/видео.html their breakout song, is about having the right to have ones’ own thoughts, free of judgement from society. “God Allow me (Please) to Play Music” ruclips.net/video/WPVo_QyS0Hw/видео.html is about people who use religion as an excuse to persecute artists.

They are obviously all talented; Rahmawati, in particular, shows signs of being a world class bassist. I have seen them live in a tiny venue in Oakland. It was a wonderful show, and they really rock.
VOB don't often play in their home country of Indonesia, as playing music, any type of music, particularly for women, is frowned apon among in some stricter areas. The band have had their power cut mid gig, rocks thrown, death threats etc. They are huge in europe though, and have played Wacken Open Air.

These three girls come from very fanatical religious circles, but the three girls rebel with all their souls just to fulfill their dreams of becoming world rock artists. They are just a handful of young girls, the vocalist is just 19 years old, the bass guitar is only 20 years old and the drummer is the same. Even though metal music is a loud genre, the mission of the song lyrics is to invite us all towards a more humane world situation or love for life on earth which we live together without borders without distinguishing between humans from different nations, religions, races, tribes , colors skin and gender.
