- Geo catches up with Frankie as they discuss the news from David Ornstein who claimed in The Athletic podcast, that Mohammed Kudus has a release clause in his contract at West Ham United. Could David Moyes have a future at West Ham United, despite lots of reports suggesting he will be replaced in the summer.

Mohammed Kudus reportedly has a release clause in his West Ham contract, according to Athletic journalist and insider David Ornstein, who spoke on a transfer update video earlier today.
The update occurred during a broader conversation about Lucas Paqueta’s potential transfer to Manchester City. However, it is the surprising news about Kudus that is likely to concern West Ham fans, given the player’s impact this season.
There is some nervousness surrounding Kudus’ assertion that he’d like to play in his favoured position of attacking midfield, which could ultimately see the attacker seeking a transfer away from East London.
Paqueta is believed to have a buyout clause allowing him to leave West Ham should a bid of £85M be received before the end of July. The Brazilian is currently under FA investigation.

Cresswell extension doesn’t work for me. We need to promote youth and left back / wing back is Oli Scarles position. I personally feel he has been ready for the first team this season, and deserves to be number 2 with Emerson. Keeping Cresswell simply prevents this is and likely to lead to another youth player looking for an out.

Moyes cannot be kept on simply because of the way he won’t give youth a chance. Apparently a lot of the academy players are not signing new contracts until they know Moyes is gone.

I think the only reason we were able to attract top players like Kudus and Paqueta is because we were in Europe. As we are not going to be in europe next season its going to be much more difficult to attract these levels of players in the summer transfer window so we cant afford to lose Kudus and Paqueta until we get back into european football :(

The best we get out of kudus is on the right and bowen plays there so i would cash in and try to build around that money, the current manager and owners have left us in this situation in that we probably need to sell our 2 best players to build a squad, how it has got to this is mind boggling all money we have spent with he who shall not be named!

Losing Kudus would be a disaster. Losing Paqueta will have no bearing on the team. Re: Tuchel, why would he come? There will be CL contending clubs around Europe that will need a manager and he’ll be a candidate. We’re not approaching that anytime soon.

@@DC-uf6ve indeed easy to forget we have been shown as a one man team without him this season, even our other good players don’t really achieve consistently when he has gone missing. If Moyes stays it will court disaster to patch up what we lose, still tough if he goes.

@richardwalton1239 I believe he was a part off the reason we were not losing games but it's not the bigger picture. There is many reasons we r losing loads off games and not having paqueta ain't one off the major reasons.

It's giving old past their best players extra contracts that's stopping young players progressing. The defence the other week was so old , I felt like giving them my bus pass.

I think Kudus will play another season for us then Liverpool will come in for him to replace salah, he will be 24 for the new season so plenty of playing time left.

Some stories that we have already made moves to agree one or two deals for some younger players from the Championship/abroad.
If true, good to see us move early as no doubt the euros will slow things down. IMO we need to get the manager situation and/or player renewals sorted before the Luton match so that we can a) say thanks and goodbye, and b) instill a bit of optimism and get things ready for the new season and not wait til the last minute.

One of the reason we have so many old and players who have passed their best is because we keep extending their contract instead of replacing them. Also we are depriving them of football elsewhere. Cresswell have pass his best Two years ago. Please release him and allowed him to get game elsewhere.

Nigel Kahn on C&B gave a good explanation of why Moyes could be given a new contract by the board, McKinlay, Nolan, Heitinga & Valero included. Moyes statistics are totally opposite to what we see week in, week out.
I really can’t wait for this season to end. When it does I will take a good earned rest from football. Not just West Ham but football in general. I might take a passing interest in the Euros but England games only. Got plenty of stuff lined up this summer . There is definitely more to life than football.

Kudas release clause kicks in next summer 2025 . Moyes is leaving and so are the likes of cresswell and ogbonna. The reason the club are letting Ben Johnson go is because the club now has the funds to upgrade on him . Junior Robinson is very very highly rated by the coaching staff .

One of the down sides to David Moyes has been his reluctance to blood youth, yet you and Frankie are talking about buying replacements for Cresswell, Ogbonna and Johnson. Might this relate to your lack of knowledge relating to the quality in the U21s (Oli Scarles for example)? I really enjoy Hammers Chat, but I don't remember any analysis of the potential that we already have within the club. WH U21s finished 2nd in the first tranche of 20 games in Div 1 of Premier League 2 leading up to the play-offs. Surely there must be one or three outstanding prospects in that squad. They can't all be duds, and if they are, what exactly is the point in investing in youth? Your thoughts?
Hi Peter, I went to many youth matches throughout the season and also watch many on RUclips that I couldn't get to. We have a great crop of young lads but physically the majority just aren't ready. They played again ebbsleet early on the in the season and it really was men vs boys. While I'd love to see more getting minutes I'm not confident any are ready to start in the premier league unfortunately. Id love to be proven wrong but I just don't see it from any of them currently.

This type of news is exactly why the West Ham way absolutely pees me off, and has done ever since I can remember. I am sick of us getting fantastic players and then promptly getting rid of them to buy other players who will do the same - top 4 club takes them and beats us with them. We will never improve until this whole deep rooted mentality is booted out the door.
We've hardly done that at all in recent years, Rice was the first in ages. This board has been quite decent at keeping hold of our good players given our lack of success.
The list of great players is endless over the years - Cole, Ferdinand, Tevez, Lampard, Di Canio, Payet and more recently Rice, Scamacca and then likely to be Paqueta and Kudus in summer. We have got to stop selling our talent.

Great, should we lose both Paqueta and Kudus, well there goes Moyes reliance on super stars getting us the goals that got him out of trouble and saved us from the otherwise potential relegation struggle. Not only do we need Steidten to stay but we need him on top form to leave rebuild us some strength next year, be it under Moyes or A.N.Other. These endless rebuilds thanks to Moyes culpability (maybe Sully too as usual) are going to catch up on us one of these days. Kudus must stay for at least another season, but Paqueta can go but on his recent performances we will not got the money we think we will want. These over aged players must be released as the club needs to move on, there first team playing days are over, they have been paid well for their services but they must move on to allow academy players a way into the squad.
