Imagine those talented kids in that academy when they are told their new coach is the former Manager of Spain and Under 21 Spain. At a time when Spain were World champions and Euro Champions. Surely that is going to raise their spirits and their game?
One reason we do so well in the youth leagues and cups is because Moyes never takes any of the better players out
We send a lot out on loan though. Potts, Kodua, Marshall, Chesters, Swyer and Appiah-Forson. That is just the outfield players
lanzini was tiny but an absolute baller before his injury. cant wait to see more of Earthy and the rest of our exciting youth players. COYI ⚒❤❤❤
Benayoun is another, also Luka Modric, even Lionel Messi... not big frames, but great (GOAT for Messi) footballers. Also, Foden isn't that big either and he's doing fine in that forward role for City.
Da Foe was no giant either lol!!
Earthy deserves it. Anyone surfing alongside Kudus, no hesitation to secure the goal, that was a hopeful preamble for a kid who well deserves to be a part of the squad. He snatched his spot. That concussion from 4wks earlier was a breath holding sight. But he snatched his respect. Looking forward to more of THAT energy. ⚒️
Number 41 “ I left West Ham to win things “👍🏼🥳⚒️
That is what impressed me most for Earthy. he tapped the defender on the shoulder to let him know he was there, he backed off, the defender ignored him, and he sprinted to the front post for a tap in. Tony Cottee would have loved that
Appreciate Frankies point around 20 minutes regrading the "grit" missing from the upcoming players, but wonder how much of that speaks to the changing game and how players attiutudes look going into the future.
I was at the u21 game last night vs Sunderland. Earthy, Casey and Kelly were the stand outs. Also Ezra Mayers who played left centre back looks some player.
I've said for years that the biggest problem for youth players is the absence of the old Combination League. Boys v boys just doesn't prepare them adequately for the step up. The u21's run in the cup this year, beating EFL teams would have given them more experience than any amount of youth play.
Be good to see Earthy get a real chance next season
Pacqueta said Earthy was a player to watch several months ago
Frankie still beat him comfortably
@@HammersChat How do you know?
To be fair anyone can go watch the u-18's a pick out a good player
@@DagenhamOutlet it was just a joke, why’s everyone so serious these days 😂
@@HammersChat I meant in general as the start of this video says he picked out Earthy 2 years ago. We could all have done that.
Earthy had his intro at Fulham, but had a head knock necessitating rest. Maybe that was when he was identified as potential. Great to discuss ability vs suitability.
I too spotted Earthy a few years ago . Also spotted Marshall,Orford,Casey ,Scarles and Chesters ! 😂😂👍
Andy irving doing well in austria 28 games 9 goals and 4 assists including a hatrick against Salzburg
The lack of physicality can be overstated when you see how Foden has flourished - if you have the technique and football nouse you should get the opportunity
Yeah, but foden is still as strong as a bull
Earthy’s movement is really impressive, as in he’s not just hungry but he’s been really watching and studying our movement layers, coz when kudus has the ball he often cuts inside and when he does if he crosses he usually lobs to the back post and earthy waited back at the back post for this as soon as he see kudus cut to the beline then he makes he’s move and darts to the front post. That’s serious intelligence and shows he a student of the game watching our players so he came come on to gel with them and make an impact. That wasn’t a fluck. And he’s touch looks great and is constantly running and moving. This kind d has real potential! Agree I think he needs to fill out a bit. It will happen. Let’s be patient with him though like man city have been with Foden. Let him grow and learn and could be a serious player
funny you should mention Liam Delap - somebody pointed him out to me only last week as an example of a player that has been given a chance to appear in the first team, when in reality, even though he has had his Man City debut, he then went out on loan three years on the trot. Looks like they are just trying to get him some experience so they can sell him on.
It’s a great point from Frankie. I just see the highlights of the youth teams games and I always think none of them look ready mainly because they look under developed physically
I was re-watching the goal couple of times last night and actually, Bowen deserves a little bit more credit than you’re giving him. He wasn’t static, he was moving toward the ball, but I think he sensed George behind him, and the fact is he drew 2 1/2 of the Luten players toward him, leaving the lane to run behind. All credit to George for recognizing that and taking advantage.
As for Earthy not getting the opportunity under Moyes this season, it took 3 minutes before Alvarez knocked him into another dimension. He’s a class player but he really isn’t developed physically enough yet. I grant that it was a freak occurrence, nevertheless, in a class of bodies, George got utterly smashed.
Enjoyed this, thanks. I have an inkling that Downes may return to West Ham. He wouldn’t be saying he wants to leave Southampton while he’s in with a chance of promotion. I reckon anything could happen. His head could wobble and turn claret and blue if Southampton aren’t promoted and if Lopetegui wants him.
Enjoyed that lads 👍👍its soooo nice to have positive stuff to look forward to again! No more M....s Stuff 😮
What George has done has made it so much easier for his young Hammers teammates. They will have seen his 'seize the day' attitude work. Now I pray that Loppy gives them the chance when appropriate.
It's "seize the day"
@@garthodowd6846 - Unless someone is being quoted directly, using ‘…’ is correct grammatically speaking. Don’t be a pedant unless you’re on the money with your critique.
I worked with Claude Makelele yesterday. He's tiny and looks tough as nails. Earthy should do strength training, there's no need for bulk
Okay I need to know more, why etc?
Glad that Moyesaurus days are nearly over. To new beginnings
I went to watch Freddie Potts in Wycombe's last game and he didn't play, but saw him in the car park before the game and he seemed a really nice lad (made my mate's son's day by signing his shirt). Spoke to some Wycombe fans and they said Freddie looked different class, from day one. They also said Gideon Kodua needs to grow and build a bit more, but looks promising.
Flynn Downes' quotes suggest to me that he hopes for a West Ham future but doesn't want to rule out a Southampton future. Of course he says he loves it at Southampton, that's where he's most likely to be playing next season. But he indicates that he's waiting to see what the powers that be at West Ham think of him. He's a West Ham supporter, and I think his dream is to be a West Ham player.
I watched 3 games last season and the ones that really impressed me were Kodua, Earthy, Scarles, Marshall and Orford. I would like to see them all in and around the squad now we are so thin!
Your Irving mention tickled me. I literally can't give him away with the offer to pay his wages in football manager. He just sits, no squad place for domestic or European games, but he's really happy.
The difference between the 2 FA Cup wining youth teams was money!! Redknapp didn't have the equivalent budget of Moyes, so couldn't go and buy ready made internationals for each position. He had to go looking for bargains (often players that had failed elsewhere for whatever reason) and filled the gaps with youth team players. Typical Harry saying in a presser was 'I'm down to the bare bones so I'm having to play the kids' whenever there was an injury crisis. He was already using some of the winning FA Youth Cup team in the first team squad before they won that trophy.
Geo,, I watched the Southampton / WBA game on Sunday and I thought Downes was Impressive, Carrying the ball a 'la Declan and he played the whole of the second half on a booking and was very disciplined.
I did a video on patreon about Downes and literally said this too, thought his driving runs were fantastic and didn’t realise he was that good at them
@@HammersChat He did a few of them in his MOTM performances for us in Europe. TBH, that's why I was thinking that Moyes was playing him in the Prem higher up the pitch, so he could drive into the area. A lot of people gave Moyes pelters for that but I didn't entirely disagree with his decision. I still think he's better as a DM though, and hope he comes back.
I won £250 on the villa & Liverpool game last night with match bingo getting full house! Would’ve been £500 but shared it with another player. It’s quite hard to get a win but don’t mind putting £2 on the odd neutral game, makes it more exciting. Cheers!!!!!!
Ah brilliant, love that. Enjoy the winnings mate!!
Great vid. I thought Mubama was up to the physicality of the prem tbf
Welcome back Frankie
There are a few positions where a bit of physicality is an advantage however it’s not the be all and end all if your quick good on the ball and a bit slippery you’ll do well without it for now George is still a lad with training he’ll fill out a bit
Phil Foden is a prime example of a smaller player, he doesnt struggle physically
Zola, Lanzini, Wise, Any of the Silva's al smaller players , who overcome their physical side by running and NOT being cuaght......
Need to get Frankie on more often
I thought at the time when Earthy got wiped out if that would have happened to one of the senior players and if Moyes would justify himself in not selecting him as not being physically ready for the mens game. He can always go to Antonio's gym over the summer...
Also bear in mind as far as I'm aware our youth and under 21's don't train at the same complex as the first team. If they did you could get them in the same sessions to learn and build strength
It's the Bristol st motors now
Regarding Flynn the difference is between how he was managed .
Well to be honest he is ok. I wouldn’t say he is going to win us trophies so let’s not exaggerate his talent. One goal against Luton was good but that’s very much it for me. Let’s wait and see what happens next season
Not picking a kid purely based on their size & physicality is so backward. It's about football ability. I wonder if when Pep was at Barcelona, he was reluctant to pick the young Messi, Xavi and Ianesta as kids cos they'd be ineffective at set pieces. It's a very English football attitude and very Moyes thinking.
Messi and Maradona were so small when they broke through.
Having to wait this long under Moyes is why this season has been wasted for so many. It's also why Moyes should have gone at the end of last season at the latest
I think David Moyes wanted to go, but Sullivan wouldn’t pay the compensation i.e. money payout,,,, I think it was a minority of supporters that want him to go which showed at the last game
@@peterjones2903Complete B.S the majority had long had enough and anyone with common sense could see he is completely unsuitable to carry on another season.
Give it a rest now
From the stands he looks like a young John Moncur
Foden is slight, hasnt done him any harm has it ? Earthy is a must for next season
The term rolls royce i only ever hear used for mid players
Regarding Downes I think he just wants to play regularly 🤷🏻♂️
Yeah me too, I like the comments tbh, didn’t see anything wrong with them
Please, please, PLEASE give Flynn Downes another chance, West Ham. He is a much better player now than when he went on loan. I recommend any West Ham fan watches the second leg on Friday, he runs their midfield.
Did you ever seen George Best in his youth he had the desire to beat these power houses players
Bernardo silva is prob the lightest player in the league, he doesn’t struggle
However gave Miley a run and was well rewarded
Howe*
people like we all do want to see Earthy and a few others giving more game time but its all down to this new manager what he wants, we have to add to our squad next season its Ageing and way too slow
George best was a lightweight
He reminds me of a young J.Cole ngl
Do you think the David Moyes out and in supporters ,,,should now get together to try and encourage, Sullivan to stop meddling in the footballing side of our club West Ham and concentrate his mind somewhere else?
Agree. There’s a good few things that have to blend together to make the future bright. Sullivan needs to make sure that happens rather than get involved himself.
Rio and Carrick weren't massive when they came through. Yes they were tall but they were lean and not fully developed into men.
The Spanish have moved away from purely size and more technical ability. Maybe time for us Brits to do the same.
Give youth a chance.
You are right they were not massive but if you have a look at Rio on his debut he had filled out far more than earthy. Rios legs were twice the size.
I think Earthy, as good as he is, needs to go out on loan next season to continue his development. To a league 1 club where he will come up against no nonsense defenders that will give him a clattering. That's the only way he will learn and become a top player.
You don’t have to be big to play against City because they are not dirty of all the sides in the premiership they are the best.
The reason they don't look as big anymore it's because they don't end up in the slaters arms after training,or faces on a Saturday night .
Not enough pints inside , where did it all go wrong??????
Phil Foden isn’t exactly a heavyweight is he and nobody doubts his ability to play in the PL
2/3 months playing as the holding winger might have finished him
Earthy is good ask yourself why Moyes didn’t spot it.
Earthy is still a bit young. He needs to go out on loan for a season in the Championship and get some competitive football under his belt.
haven't we been saying for ages that the youngster should have had a chance, even for a few minutes
Each game.
Why in the world would Flynn want to come back to West Ham? He’s a footballer who wants to have a career. He is no chance at West Ham. Maybe he deserves it, but he’s not starting matches for us. His playing time would get cut in half from
what he’s afforded at Southampton. He should stay where he is,and keep moving moving from strength to strength.
i agree that foden and Silva are no big gays either. ( or Messi or Mordik ) It is just rubbish just like Moyes limit with 21 years or something. Orford should be in the first teame also.
Mubama is good enough- moyes ruined him
I think the reason the kids just look younger is bc we’re getting older.
I can't wait for david moyes leaves
Ridiculous. Ain’t even played a full game in premiership.
What’s ridiculous?
Exactly! Hasn’t even played a full game and scored
@@BCS09 I don’t get it? So Jason doesn’t want him involved in the first team next season?
@@HammersChat he’s saying everyone’s hyping over earthy even though he ‘ain’t even played a full game in premiership’ implying we haven’t seen enough of him/we don’t know if he is good enough yet.
@@BCS09 but all we are suggesting is he’s part of the squad next season, hardly ‘ridiculous’
I think calling it the Premiership is more ridiculous
Someone get him a decent haircut..
He obviously needs a man bun or a phil foden medieval style
You should give this Frankie guy Gonzos shirt m8. He actually knows what hes talking about and isn't just a 'yes man'.
Give some credit to kudus ! Without that assist that kid couldn’t strike and score ! He’s a good kid but give credit!
We did our player ratings and praised Kudus plenty for his assist, I praised it a lot in my match review
How many times do we need to mention it? Surely 2 is enough? Otherwise every video be 2 hours long mentioning every little thing
Not too fussed about the lack off physicality. He appears adept at picking up space between him and the defender. Which gives him time to use his agility to get away from the more physical players ala, foden/grielish aham messi 🫣
