- With AssistiveTouch starting in watchOS 8.3, you can use your Apple Watch with one-handed gestures if you have difficulty touching the screen or pressing the buttons. By pinching your fingers and clenching your fist, you can answer calls, use your apps, and launch a menu of actions on Apple Watch Series 4 and later.

interesting how Apple is re-branding this feature as "double tap" during their Apple Event

😂 They didn’t even bother to delete their old video to hide the face that this already existed on their older watches.
and how "Double Tap" has fewer features available than Assistive Touch does
I think it’s just that the new sensor and chip will make this feature better and therefore more reliable so they finally decided to brand it as new feature. Still cool either way
Absolutely wonderful! A great step with assistive technology as well as for those who can't always touch the watch directly. Thank you people behind Apple for thinking of this and making it happen.
I will use this when I'm on my commuter bike. One hand on the handle bar, the other with doing haptics. 🙌🙌

You can change the color of this visual signal in Accessibility > AssistiveTouch > Color. Or you can turn the visual signal on or off by going to Accessibility > AssistiveTouch > Hand Gestures > Activation Gesture.

So much technology for that but when it s windy outside it tells you the noise it s too loud and you re hurting your hearing. So strange they couldn’t think of something on how to differentiate the noise from the wind
I have the Watch 9. I get the blue light, my settings are the same, but when I double clench, the screen gets enlarged.

This works like magic. How does the watch know when you're pinching or clenching your fist? It doesn't even have a camera
It doesnt need a camera or anything. Its kinda complicated but theres people who created whole arms that work useing only water and it can do every hand gesture works
It doesn't need a camera. The supported devices have a very reliable series of sensors which even enable the watch to have a feature called "Fall Detection" wherein it can detect if you suffered from one and automatically contact emergency services and inform your emergency contacts if you've been unresponsive.

Yet another reason to just love 🥰 Apple!! OMG!! 🤯They realized that accessibility features can also be useful for everyone, so they brought at least one compelling function to the masses. Double tap.
I have an Apple Watch Series 7 and just enabled Assistive touch and it works!! Not as straightforward as how double tap is, but whose complaining. Until I upgrade I’ll be pinching, tapping and double clenching away. Thanks Apple!! 🥰✨
