its pretty mind blowing that a grunge band like nirvana did covers of old lead belly blues songs and made them with such an original grunge sound especially the track "where did you sleep last night"
Hell yeah! I remember being so in love with them I named my cat Nirwana and when she passed away last year I finally stopped feeling embarrassed of naming her like a band from my teenage years 🥲
@@oioioioioioioioioioioioio hahahaha nice!! Cute name actually Also sorry for your cat 😊 And that's good, it's being my favorite for 6 years now (since my 12's) and I'm pretty sure it's not changing
Fantastic..Lead Belly's cover or not. Many of their covers R fab. D7,Love Buzz, The Man Who Sold The World,Mollys Lips-2name just a few :-) #justiceforkurt #montageofheck #soakedinbleach #grunge #kurdtcobain #davegrohl #kristnovoselic
I absolutely love this song and the fact that it is and instrumental I really like nirvana's covers of ledbelly oh and if you listen closely there is random music or singing some sort of talking like from a t.v. in this song!!!!!!!!
Listen to how Grol is leaving a gap between the beat and the symbol to allow the rest of the band space to contol their own rhythm. Brilliant drummer, great collaboration
damn.... I had to wait 16+ years (maaan, it's all been like yesterday) to discover this song.... and I thought I've heard 'e, all.... Hehe, gr8 job loserjanete!
It sounds like there was some bleed through in the walls of their recording space. If it was a cell ringtone, it was all midi back then, so it wouldnt sound like that.
@Zer0Bushi It is The Jury. They recorded four Leadbelly songs: Grey Goose, Ain't It a Shame, Where Did You Sleep Last Night, and They Hung Him on a Cross (Kurt solo).
They could work in a studio together and do something together. Kurt was sure that Dylan was one of his best friends (but I think Dylan was not a friend to Kurt during his last years at least),so that's not weird something from Dylan in Nirvana's music, I think. I can be wrong, I'm not arguing, it's just an opinion!
+Lewis Barrah I dunno. Earth was all about Sunn amps. I quite like Earth, but they're way more doom and sludge. This is like a distorted version of an old bluesy country song.
I know all about this song. Believe me. But I'm entitled to my own opinion, and if you don't like that. Then fine. Jimi Hendrix did a cover of All Along the Watchtower. And people celebrate that as his greatest song. But it's not his. But, if I must conform to your idea. Then this is my favorite cover, they did. Oh, and this is Nirvana. They performed it with some of The Screaming Trees, in '89. And, in '89, Nirvana had Krist and Kurt (Some others, but these were the constants up until '94).
it depends, there are holes in the system so not every song will be public domain.. there's tons of shyt by disney that should be public domain but it's not for whatever reasons
i have to agree, but remember all the teens and adults that killed themselves b/c to them if Kurt was gone they had to leave to and to them Nirvana was thier life b/c they could relate to him and Nirvana's music was everything....... to them... i mean music is a way of evolution if u know wat i mean and it will change through time, but Nirvana will always be in our heartshaped boxes.... lol, i mean the beatles still live today to......
@littlebirdy9 Or to Michael Jackson or to Prince. There was other good music back then, too, not just rock. Not that I don't like rock the best, but I m just saying. Today's disco music is shit but then, disco music was nice and cool, too. :)
But, why does it matter. I've known it was a cover since I first heard. I got it off With the Lights Out. I just like it. Ok, does this clear it up? This is my favorite song, that Nirvana performed, that is not theirs...
no not really, there are still other bands that are livng that relate to all of those..... and Dave from Nirvana is still going... he moved on to form another band and i doubt he'll give that up any time soon... so you're still good even though Foo Fighters aren't anything like the others Dave has kept his spirit to do wat Kurt never wanted so they say..... to be famous and to be heard all around the world....
no he didn't. on mtv unplugged kurts even saying, that he asked david geffen of geffen records, if he would buy that guitar for him, but geffen did not buy it. kurts dream was not fulfilled.
its pretty mind blowing that a grunge band like nirvana did covers of old lead belly blues songs and made them with such an original grunge sound especially the track "where did you sleep last night"
Nirvana is my favourite band and will be my favourite band until I'll die.
Is it still?

@@stephenmcguire9934 barely but yeah! Fuck depression, guys😭
In my opinion, probably their greatest song.
Love that sludgeness
yup, this goes in the 'sludge etc' playlist of my phone. okay its in the 'etc' part but kyuss is there too so theyre in good company at least :)

Thanks to this music, I can proudly say I was born in the 90's. I really feel bad for the kids nowadays, and you all know why! Damn Justin Shitter...
Ouch
Nirvana sera una banda.que nunca pasara de moda asi pase los años
Listen to how Grol is leaving a gap between the beat and the symbol to allow the rest of the band space to contol their own rhythm. Brilliant drummer, great collaboration
like how the song builds, fit my current mood per chance
This is awesome. Rock bands back in the 60s through 90s looked up to the old blues guys unlike most modern shit now.
Nirvana + Leadbelly = Pure fucking Gold.
I was sort of thinking the same thing its a really great song first time i have ever heard it .Definitely a new personal favorite.
this is nirvana for sure its on the with the lights out box set
c'est magnifique
I found this relaxing,
thanx for posting this

amazing cover
shit wtf background radio, someone must have opened the door. you can actually hear it multiple times throughout
this is an excellent tribute. and contrary to many idiot comments this is very clearly gray goose. lawd lawd lawd.
It sounds like there was some bleed through in the walls of their recording space. If it was a cell ringtone, it was all midi back then, so it wouldnt sound like that.
I never hear this song before!!!

art. pure art
bloody good
yeah- they rock
I like that raw saound
I was born in 92 its '13 I play them
Pure psychedelic
They recorded Where did you sleep last night in 1991 on a radio session,in Netherlands
Feeling it :)
nirvana are the best
Lol those sunglasses
cool song , Nirvana Rulez , i have box and i love this band....im from Poland :)
LEADBELLY!!
I know. But, I can say it's their greatest song, because they performed it.
its actually kurt with mark lanagan, and some other people, not sure who now! it was on "with the lights out" but was originally gonna be on an e.p
april but wayne... rip my friend my hero my jesus T.T
Sounds a lot like what Dylan Carlson (Kurt's mate) would do in his band, Earth.
I really feel Dylan's arm in this song! But the author knows better...
Lewis Barrah I was thinking exactly that. I was actually wondering if Carlson had something to do with this recording
They could work in a studio together and do something together. heroin killed kurt's spirit. RIP man i hope you have finally found peace
I totally need to get the lyrics!
Google is your friend, Rafael. Google is your friend.
He's a great guitarist, ever listen to the Germs?
i believe your thinking of seasons in the sun
kurt did a solo version. it's on the box set, with the lights out
Yeah NIrvana did ALOT of Leadbelley covers which in my opinion is badass
it depends, there are holes in the system so not every song will be public domain.. there's tons of shyt by disney that should be public domain but it's not for whatever reasons
it sounds so.. right !
jesus,fucking hell,how good was that.
❤️grazie
Good point :)
leadbelly is public domain.. there's no legal risk considering the song is well over 50 years old..
i have to

LeadBelly is his stage name, his real name is Huddie Ledbetter
hoo-rah for Leadbelly covers!
🥃🥃🥃GREYGOOSE🥃🥃🥃
Nice
IT WAS A GOOD DAY.
RIP Kurt, Today 05/05/09 complete 15 years..
yeah, it does..
@BieberJustinl That was a trolling attempt, am I right?
@zabbazabba23 I'm pretty sure the only thing this instrumental shares with Lead Belly's song is the name.
Good to know! (/me bows to your knoledge)
Good :)
Nivarna covering a song by the great Lead Belly. Shows theve got grat taste in music.
I suppose this is what first came to kurts mind when he listened to leadbellys grey goose
@zabbazabba23 Nirvana covered alot of Lead Belly's songs. As they were Kurt Cobain's favourite band!
out of 82,116 people, 9 didnt enjoy this? wtf!!!!???
@littlebirdy9 Or to Michael Jackson or to Prince. There was other good music back then, too, not just rock. Not that I don't like rock the best, but I m just saying. Today's disco music is shit but then, disco music was nice and cool, too. :)
Haha, that sarcasm!
might also be someone's amp pickin up a little radio signal
haha for some reason it gives me the thought they must've been blown.
they hsould of played this live.
It sounds like Mudhoney's instrumentals, kind of. The fuzz on the guitar is very Mudhoney.
@kasiulkavege
Me too, Nirvana f***ing rocks !!!!
Pat Smear?
But, why does it matter. I've known it was a cover since I first heard. I got it off With the Lights Out. I just like it.
Ok, does this clear it up?
This is my favorite song, that Nirvana performed, that is not theirs...
Is that Dave Grohl in an Eyehategod shirt at 15 Seconds?
they have the radio on while recording the song, or a very fucked up amp that picks up some radio waves.
this might be fake, without singing its hard to tell.
Listen around 1:02 and 1:03, u can hear a chick talking and other background noise
Cant tell if serious.
obviously not fucker
It's an official track from the boxset.
it's real it comes on the lights out box set
1:04 what is that sound in the background?
lol i was laughing at ur comment.. im on ur side = P
Not bad for an insane boy.1star
It's absolutly Leadbelly
I love 1:33......of course Dave would be naked in the bath, and they'd come to hang out with him. Nothing new there. XD
No the guy on the end w/ the hat on (not kris the other end)
@zabbazabba23 lead belly is a legend but a killer!
no not really, there are still other bands that are livng that relate to all of those..... and Dave from Nirvana is still going... he moved on to form another band and i doubt he'll give that up any time soon... so you're still good even though Foo Fighters aren't anything like the others Dave has kept his spirit to do wat Kurt never wanted so they say..... to be famous and to be heard all around the world....
un sonido parecido a black sabbath en very nice y la bateria tambien genios
Now i got it, Kurt Cobain was tha riffer of the nineties, and nothing has happened since
mr,leadbely
Do they sing? Or is this just instruments?
+Celeste Tial Music.
Jesus Fuck off cultist
no he didn't. on mtv unplugged kurts even saying, that he asked david geffen of geffen records, if he would buy that guitar for him, but geffen did not buy it. kurts dream was not fulfilled.
0:54 whose the guy on Kurts left??
