Yes, I agree about shopping in January. The same goes for shopping in regular stores as well. They always have huge discounts because they were unable to sell them for Christmas shoppers.
Julie, i absolutely love you. I have a thrifting sickness, cant stay out of the thrift stores they all know me by name. I wish u vould come over and help me decorate lol . Today we celebrated 3 Kings Day 1.6.2024. It brought us our 1st snow. I went outside and took photos and videos. I even took my selfie to share all of it on my private Facebook. Our daughter and my husband wanted to stay warm inside and see the snow through the window. I love snow and was so excited after not having it for 3 years in Pennsylvania. Blessings.🥰

I have two that I have had for years but I would like another one. I have a big collection of Christmas village houses which I keep in two big curios. I use trees to add depth to the houses. I use glass trees and fake evergreen trees. I could get the glass tree online but I am not willing to pay what they are asking. I'm cheap in some things. :)
Take a hand sander to the cutting board or have your husband "plane" it if he has a planer in his workshop. Whenever i find old cutting boards ir old pieces of board i sand them. Makes them like new.
That wooden box signed inside by Enid Colins is a vintage purse worth some money. It did look like it was missing the handles. I would have bought that for resale. I totally agree with you that January is the best time of year for thrifting especially for clothes.

I usually look for wooden or metal items that I can easily makeover if needed. I tend to stay away from wicker type things because I have hardwood floors and furniture babies lol and plus I feel they are harder to keep clean and dust or fur free.
I have fun thrifting with my daughter and my best friend. At the moment I need jeans for work. Unlike Kelsey, I’ve gained weight! 😮 The salt and pepper shakers from Japan were a good find. Enjoyed the video!

Out of glass, marble, stainless steel, plastic, and timber cutting boards, studies have shown that timber is the most bacteria safe. Go figure. ❤ from Australia.

They are old and beautiful. I too , was thinking I would have had to get the wood cutting board, to use in different ways. The dress is an Amazon brand. People say it is one of the nicest brands and one that has better quality. The purse is darling. We hit our first estate sale in well over six weeks and we got an old old little cabinet, an old big mirror that is gorgeous and many old books to use as risers. I got a cooking, housekeeping book with a 1908 date. Happy New Year and Happy thrifting. I am glad all the family found good deals too.

Instead of donating to places like Goodwill & Salvation Army I am giving things to local young women who are building their resale businesses. Almost everything I have is vintage or rustic...some mid-century and coastal cottage. I love to thrift, but rarely buy except for interesting gift items. . I do need an outdoor weather proof storage cabinet and hope to find one before summer. Oh..and books! Will be looking for a dozen of those! 😂

Pretty modest dress Julie, I love neutrals too. I noticed you have an affinity for s&p shakers and you love blankets, material in general. You should give us tutorials on the way you turn things into something else with the material that you thrift. I was intrigued by the mention of the shower curtain. I like to sew, but never really learned to think outside the box when it comes to sewing. I grew up just following standard patterns when sewing. You should sand the wooden block with an electric sander than oil it and it would look amazing.
I decorate with wooden cutting boards n wooden pizza paddle all through the house. Love your board, good choice.❤

That block of wood (cutting bosrd)...I would have sanded the service and then apply food grade mineral oil.
Use some mineral oil on it to bring out the woodgrain.
