The keyboardist from Yes, Rick Wakeman, once stated that the solo from this song was the best solo ever done on the Hammond B3 organ. Hats off to Rod Argent.🙂

The Keith Emerson trick of playing the keyboard while looking at the audience. I loved Argent and this song - a brilliant band!

At a critical juncture in my life, when I'd failed at something extremely difficult, that I'd dared to accomplish, feeling crushed and beaten, one of the cadre came by and told me to hold my damned head up--this song flashed in my brain and my state of mind changed instantly. The resolve I seized on at that moment sustained me through another round of training and prep and attempting to complete the challenge when earning another opportunity; and, I succeeded. Every time I hear this song those series of events replay and re-inspire. Thank you, Argent.

I had the honor and privilage of being the FOH engineer for them at the Uptown Theater in Kansas City a little over 20 years ago. As I had grown up with their music I knew exactly how the should sound. After the show, their manager asked if I had a passport as he wanted to take me on the road with them back in Europe. Alas, I did not and missed the opportunity, but the memory of that compliment will always be with me.

They played this at my local nightclub during the early 70's. Fantastic then and still does the trick! Great days!

Rod Argent went to my school (St Albans School, Hertfordshire, England, UK). I never met him (I was a small child when he started), but I started studying vocals and guitars when my voice broke in one swoop in front of the whole school at the age of 12 singing solo as the lead chorister in the Lady Chapel.
I ended up winning the School Music Competition with the worst song I could find at the age of 17 (a song Mike Oldfield sang when dead drunk), and at the age of 19, I was the lead guitarist, lead vocalist and songwriter of a metal band called The Uninvited. I quit 5 years ago at the age of 55, but I still enjoy karaoke and playing guitar and singing in local pubs, and i often get free drinks, even though all of them have paid for gigs for local artists. I have even had young girls kiss me for my voice and my guitar.
But Rod inspired me. His talent cannot be ignored.

I saw Wakeman and Argent with Ring's band. Wakeman was completely lost. He never heard Jazz, classical and Rock solo together in the same song and couldn't comprehend it. You should have seen the lost look on his face. Fabulous solo. He is the GOAT.

Argent is as skilled as Wakeman and Emerson, but with the humility to let the music be. He is the goat.

You have to 1) Darken your room 2) Increase the volume 3) Close your eyes 4) Let Rod take you away!
Oh, and don't forget to softly chant "Hold - your - head - up" to the rhythm. THEN you'll 'get it'!!☺😉
