One of the best phrases on RUclips: Kevin saying, "I've made a model." 😊 And a fantastic model it is, built by a wonderful storyteller who brings history to life. Thanks, Kevin!
Hi Kevin, you came to Dunraven School in South London about 10 years ago when I was 13 as Kevin the Bowman. I remember that was one of the first formative historical experiences I had as a young lad which has only turned into a deep love and passion for all things history. Then here I am today watching you on a successful RUclips channel of your own making, funny how things work out! Keep up the great work, and thank you for being a huge inspiration to me and no doubt many others. Proud of you! Evan
Hi Evan, I have fond memories of Dunraven school and quite a few photos too, so hello from the past and here's to the future! Thanks for getting in touch 👍🏻
My favorite topic of yours is this ongoing 100 years war series. I know only small bits/ broad strokes so having so much passionate detail and context really brings it all to life.
I present some of your videos to my children because the version of history they get at school is so diluted. The personal elements of history are removed and left to look impersonal. Thx u for your detailed efforts to bring history to life.
@@bulletinspecialist3675 Diluted indeed. Kind of funny how the French won the war but I don't see any French victories. Hope this youtuber will go all the way up until the end most doing the 100 years war stop after a while. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Hundred_Years%27_War_battles

@@thehistorysquad i have a question, how did the French sally out in force with fortifications like that (amazing model btw kevin)? did they swim across the moat or walk out the gate? seems a bit daft
@@hallytron they had different means of sally ports, I think they would have walked out. It's possible that on the gatehouses on the English side of the river there were, down below, near river level, gates so soldiers could cross the bridge to the gate house, go down the towers to the riverbank and out that way. The conclusion I came to was that under the cover of darkness they would actually sally forth this way, gather in the town ditch and move forward under cover of darkness, avoiding traps, and attack. The fact they captured and tortured English prisoners makes me think maybe they sallied forth with the intention of probing defences but also attacking English patrols. It was a very fluid situation. Hope that helps
I love the long format. I had to set aside time to listen and look at your model. It was definitely worth it. You are an amazing teacher. Knowable with humor and drama. 👍 Amazing.
When you can look at the model and actually picture yourself in the scene, you know it's an incredible model with details that are so complete and accurate it truly transports you! Fabulous work, Kev!
