I travelled from the States to Warwick Castle back in 2009. It was my last year of High School and the first time abroad. Right outside the entrance to the castle was this guy in period dress, sporting several crosses of St. George across his "uniform." I listened to him talk for thirty minutes on archery and the longbow, all the while he's sinking arrows into a straw dummy at least 50ft across the moat. My mind was transported six hundred years into the past listening to him. Lo and behold, I find him on RUclips! God bless you, Mr. Hicks!

Hi Kevin. I am married to Don Adams who you mention in one of your films - I believe you worked together at Warwick Castle. Unfortunately Don is quite ill in hospital following a stroke a week ago. But I managed to download one of your videos (or at least part of it) to my iPad and took it in to him. He loved watching it. I'm not very tech savvy but am trying to get more onto the iPad so he can watch them. There isn’t WiFi in the hospital. Best wishes, Meriel Adams.
Hello Meriel, How lovely of you to reach out, thank you. I'm still using the two bows Don made for me while he was at Warwick, we were indeed good friends there and I have fond memories of our conversations and some of the mischief we used to get up to. I have been to Crécy and Azincourt at the end of December 2022. Unfortunately, both museums were closed, but I had both battlefields to myself. After parking in Azincourt, I walked to Maisoncelle, where the English had spent the night before the battle. My march from Maisoncelle across the field to the frontline was pure history.
Kevin, this is the greatest retelling of the battle that I have ever heard. You really deliver the horror of the battle, far better than others have. Thank you for your passion for history. Cheers from Texas.
As someone who has studied some Roman military campaigns, it's something I've often thought about. Modern warfare can be fought at distances of hundreds or thousands of yards but those earlier battles were mostly fought at arm's length. So that's where the bodies fell. Stepping or even climbing over the piles of dead and wounded would have been how soldiers advanced and fought. Truly gruesome to imagine.
And such a model!! Old soldiers like ourselves know the terror of the modern battlefield. But this kind of warfare was brutal beyond belief!! I can’t imagine having to battle under such conditions and with these close quarters weapons! Sobering!
Yes.They were certainly different times. Many of Henry's soldiers would have been enlisted as lowly serfs, like farm labourers.A hard life.I wonder what the average lifespan was in those days.Probably not more than 50.

Brilliant explanation of a famous battle Kevin. Loved those replica of the armies, well done. Well done Mr Hicks, I heard other people describe the battle in their versions, but I loved the way you used your model to explain it.
There’s fascinating docs on YT depicting archaeologists studying the remains of these warriors. One large man, earlier in life got hit in the face with a sword. It shattered his jaw but he survived and made a full recovery! Only to die as a POW at Agincourt.
And Davy Gam, who nearly had his arm severed by an ax, saving the Kings life!
Great job on the story as always Sir Kevin! And the model too!
excellent presentation, brought tears to me eyes, I was transported right there
Kevin , I've read and seen shows on this battle , but your amazing dioramas really bring it to life ! Your efforts are very much appreciated !! Any school teacher should be showing this in class when they study this ! Have a great weekend !
Thanks, will do!
What a great start to my day, thanks Kevin! Absolutely love your channel and everything you do.

Sir,you have the absolute best History Content on your channel. If it wasn’t for you and several other channels,I’d delete RUclips like I have with every other Social Media platform.Thank You so much for all your hard work!!!
Wow, thanks 👍
Thanks Kevin. Excellent account and model of this famous battle. You are a masterful storyteller.
Cheers James 👍
The models along with the storytelling are great because it helps you better visualize the mass numbers of these skirmishes and the length of those spears holy moly
Battle Stack's video on Agincourt is great
WOW! What a presentation.
Excellent & informative upload as per 👌🏻
Mr. Hicks, once again, your models were great! You make history interesting and you are a master storyteller. I learned quite a lot from this video, and at this one I never realized that the Duke of York was overweight, poor fella must have passed slowly. It was definitely quite a battle, I imagined all the sounds and sights in my mind. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Hicks for all these wonderful videos! 😊
It’s our pleasure, thanks for watching.
Great English outfit there Kev 🙂
Tack!
Hi Jan, thanks so much for the SUPER, I'm glad you enjoyed my Agincourt video, it's got to be my favourite battle story 👍🏻
If only my history teachers were half as interesting as Kevin?
If only I had passionate teachers like you in school . I would have been a straight A student . Thank you 🙏
We few, we happy few,
We band of brothers,
For he to-day that watches Kev's Friday video with me,
Shall be my brother.
😂 love it
You are an amazing storyteller. Thank you for helping to keep the histories and stories of my Welsh and English forebears alive.
we love you Kevin ❤
😃
Absolutely brilliant! Well done indeed. It's hard to imagine how terrifying it must have been, what terrible things people witnessed. Brilliantly told.
From our Twenty First Century perspective the events at Agincourt are infinitely horrifying. From a Fifteenth Century perspective …
… it’s a Tuesday.
If they had some Texans with them, they would have had plenty of fish from the English Channel! No burnings needed... We fish for food here! LOL
You guys have a lot of fishing to do these days. Good luck from Ontario. We are cheering for you.
LOL I know what you mean!!! Thanks!
You may fish, but this Texas boy raises cattle! 😉
