Clear face shield offers a light transmittance ratio around 85%.
Mellow Smoke let approximately 60% light through.
For Smoke, the transmittance ratio is approximately 40%.

I was waiting for my dark smoke for a long time. Bought the helmet in January and after looking everywhere for a dark smoke shield wo success, I eneded up pre ordering one from revzilla. Sure enough I didn't get anything in April as initially stated, nor in 1st half of May, so I finally canceled the order and bought one from Amazon since it was available. I enjoy it a lot, now waiting for the iridium/fire one that you showed last to become available here in the US. Great video Armin!
Also, is it just me or the RF1400 seems to have more noise inside than for example my X11? I didn't own a RF1200 so I can't compare, but to me it seems like that. Prob bc of the better air flow, but I hear more wind noise even with the vents closed
@@nautilus1753 I got mine from STG about two weeks ago.
I wear foam earplugs plus the chin curtain and it is pretty quiet. I ride a 18' Street Triple RS so the helmet is in clean air. I suppose the noise level is subjective. It is what you are used to.

@@nautilus1753 Yup Revzilla majorly screwed up the Pre-order on those visors and everyone I heard from had to cancel as they were just being ignored.
I never had an X11 but it is quieter than my RF 1200 and X14. But the aerodynamics are different so on your bike setup it might be louder. It's hard to say it universally. Maybe use earplugs ?
I live in Destin, FL and work in Valparaiso, FL. Fog in the spring and early summer days is the norm due to the high humidity here. I'll probably get the yellow fog visor as well just because of this reality for where I live.

Just bought the helmet in Gray today but the smoked visor is back ordered.
Try Sportbike Track gear or Amazon if revzilla is out of stock.
The dark smoke is great, especially with late afternoon sun. I wanted the transition lens, but they don't react quick enough to work on my sunrise amd sunset rides.

Dark smoke is nice in clear sunny days, but it's a disaster in twilight/night

I did it's in the RF 1400 review I did about it.
Been trying to buy the chrome/silver mirrored but it seems like all their visors for this helmet are out of stock or really hard to get. I'm having a hard time finding it :(. Great video though, thanks for showing and explaining all the combinations!
True, there seem to be some serious supply issues with these. Sometimes some of the smaller dealers have some in stock .
@@MonoMoto Good idea yeah I might call up some of the dealerships. None of the cycle gears have them, which is the only motorcycle store I know of around me.
The dark smoke is freaking impossible to find. The lack of the availability of these visors is super frustrating. all the visors are sold out on the japanese website as well... this helmet has been out for quite a while, don't see why they can't produce visors. Is there an aftermarket option?
Welcome to our funny Covid world where all sorts of weird things are out of stock. It is strange, but yeah aftermarket is a good idea. After some time they can pop up on Amazon or Ebay. Unfortunately I don't know any quality 3rd party brand I could recommend. Some after market visors are straight up dangerous if they have no UV protection or are not shatterproof.

In the sunlight the red looks more dark orange which would be perfect for my bike. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance!
I assume you talk about the helmet and not the visors !? If so, the red goes a little into the orange spectrum, but no idea if it'll fit your bike .

Yes they have also transition lenses .
Seems like they do not have stock right now.
