I own a 2016 Accord, 4 cylinder. I started having these issues a year after I purchased the car brand new. I happened so far at least 4-5 times, randomly. I had to jump the car with cables to start, other times I left it to sit overnight and it started just fine. One of the problems is that these 4 cylinder Accords have extremely small and underpowered batteries from factory that are barely enough for the car, almost reminds me of a motorcycle battery. I heard of people upgrading to a larger V6 battery system. I also took my car to the dealership and,of course, they found nothing wrong. This problem should definitely be under recall.

Just had this issue now, it is also possible that it has to do with the wiring to the starter, which is why tapping on it and trying to start up works sometimes besides just being faulty. As a reference my starter I brought from autozone brand new literally about 4 months ago or less. It may in fact be an electrical issue with the make of the car
Same problem in my Accord EXL2013. Here is what I did to resolve the issue. I paid 90$ for complete diagnosis at a Honda Service Center. They found faulty starter. Total Quote was 600$ for starter+299$ for labor. Estimate was ~950$. I took the part number from them and ordered a brand new starter from Genuine honda parts that cost me 275$. Then for the installation, i went back to Honda service center. Installation cost was 200$ as they deducted the 90$ I paid for the diagnosis. So overall repair cost was around 575$ which was way better than paying 950$. The issue has been resolved and I have driven the car after repair for another 100 miles. No trouble starting at all. Honda has a faulty starters in 2013,2014,2015 series. They are fully aware of that but will never accept or recall. This will be my last Honda car. PS: Starters are not covered under powertrain warranty. Don't waste your time
Same issue on my 13 Accord Sport. Dealership said the battery is good, alternator is good, they think 90% sure it’s the starter. Surprising to me that they said this because anytime I go for an oil change they try to convince me that fluids are dirty and to spend $100s for minor unnecessary stuff. So for them to say 90% is fishy. I tested the starter at another place they said based on the readings they said starter looks fine on paper. There is definitely more going on especially reading online about people replacing starters and the problem continues. Very frustrating.

Yep unfortunately I have a 2013 EXL this was my first Honda and will be my last. I've replace the battery FIVE yes 5 times, I've also replaced the starter, and the alternator. This literally keeps happening every 6months. I'm over it. One dealership let me know they intentionally under sized the battery for the new accords so they could have a better gas mileage. Oh and they also let me know that the starters with the push starts have lots of failures. I bought this care because Honda's were supposed to be "reliable" Needless to say I am very disappointed. My 97 Ford escort was more reliable than this car. =(
Hondas as well as toyotas are the most reliable cars in the market. In fact, they are at the top list of most reliable. Im sorry for your experience but the fact of repkacing 5 batteries show that whoever did the diagnosis had no idea how to diagnose a no start correctly. Start from the simplest to the most complex by following process of elimination. Trust me im a mechanic. I do have to admitt that Honda used to make better cars in the 80s. But because of technology, vehicles are now more complex and complicated Where different modules and sensors required more skilled mechanics. I have had several Hondas and toyotas and never had major issues.
carlo mango yes that’s why I bought the car. I thought I was getting something reliable 😢 the car still drags and show issues with the battery even though it’s new. The mechanic from the deal I ship (I’ve been to 3 Honda dealerships) States “The diagnostic returned nothing. The only thing we can do is replace your battery again.”
Same thing happen to mine I have a 2013 Honda Accord sport. Ended up putting it on N and crank it to start up. Gladly it did. Will have to take it to get it checked up since check engine light it’s on, tire pressure, steering wheel, etc lights are dashboard show up
Check engine and others lights took off the next day. Either is the spark plugs that is getting a mis fire, will replace mines tomorrow if it’s not that then it’s your throttle body needs to get cleaned up did my research already.
You prob tried to put it in drive while it was only “power” on than put it back to park then tried to start it. I did that with my 2006 and then this started. I think it freezes the program of the chipped key or something like that.

But because of technology, vehicles are now more complex and complicated
Where different modules and sensors required more skilled mechanics.

Its a parasitic draining on your battery. Or a bad ground wire. Have you found out if there is a recall on these cars and models?
Same thing happen to mine I have a 2013 Honda Accord sport. Ended up putting it on N and crank it to start up. Gladly it did. Will have to take it to get it checked up since check engine light it’s on, tire pressure, steering wheel, etc lights are dashboard show up
Thwre is a video on how to reset these lights. All you need is a small paper clip
1boxerface1 how
1boxerface1 please god I need to know
Check engine and others lights took off the next day. Either is the spark plugs that is getting a mis fire, will replace mines tomorrow if it’s not that then it’s your throttle body needs to get cleaned up did my research already.
I just shifted it to to n and it startled thanks for the help
You prob tried to put it in drive while it was only “power” on than put it back to park then tried to start it. I did that with my 2006 and then this started. I think it freezes the program of the chipped key or something like that.
Ong ur stuck at a store like me.... Jeezsus.
I had the same exact problem. My fix was to replace my starter. My car starts up so strong now. My ig is @dankfitment, follow my build
I have a problem with my Accord 05. It wont start, all the lights comes on but.. no start.

Your car is a 2013 Honda Accord Sport sedan
Oh no not a Honda, Hondas are perfect...lol buy a German car.
Fuck that. I’ve owned many cars and German cars are SHIT. Great power but reliability is absolute shit.
