Lemon icing soaked into the top of your pound cake.
Oh, hon, haven’t had a good piece of divinity in ages!! My great aunt Bendette made the best at Christmas Eve parties.
But my favorite has to be peach cobbler. Now being from Texas you only can serve it with a scoop of Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream on top!

Banana pudding is top. But it has the be using real cooked custard, not jello pudding or canned pudding. It must be cooked custard that the chef has stirred constantly on the stove top for at least 15 min, maybe longer. Constantly.

Ya speakin my language. I love good ol' Southern desserts.
    1) Key Lime Pie
    2) Coconut Cake
    3) Pound Cake
    4) Sweet Potato Pie
    5) Banana Pudding
I've never had Martha Washingtons, Haystacks, Cornflake Candy or Chess Squares. So I won't rank them.
As far as the other three, they're salads not desserts. I've had the pear and pineapple salads, and if concealed salads are like jello salads I've had those too. But if you're talking about the ones that have meats or vegetables in them then that will be a no! 😝 They're ranked at the bottom!
You are so right about Key Lime pies should NOT be green. That's just food coloring. I also, want to add that a pie made with Persian lime juice is Not a key lime pie. I've seen so many videos where they call it ley lime that and use regular limes. 🤦‍♀️
I'm from South Florida and lived near the Keys and till I was 10. My grandmother grew her own key limes and made many a key lime pie with the meringue on top! She had to baby that tree as they're hard to grow but she had a green thumb and could grow anything! She'd juice those tiny limes and put the juice in ice cube trays and freeze it. She knew exactly how many cubes she needed to make one pie so she'd put them in freezer bags after they froze. They were a pain to juice but so worth it! When she made them I couldn't get to her house fast enough! My Mama made them the same way. They were so tart and sweet at the same time! Pure heaven! The tartness of a key lime is like no other! It's so distinct.
My grandmother also grew her own coconuts and she made the best coconut cake! When a coconut dropped she ran to get it! She could break into a coconut like it was no one's business! She'd shred that coconut meat and freeze it until she was ready to bake one of those delicious layers of goodness! She usually made those during holidays because they were more labor intensive. I have her recipe and have made one so I know the work that goes into them! But they're so delicious! But they weren't as good as my grandmothers. The love she put into those cakes and pies cannot be replicated. Grandmothers love makes desserts that much sweeter!

Definitely pound cake at the top of the list. Strawberry shortcake is just, I dunno, not wrong but certainly "less than" unless you use pound cake for the shortcake. Mainly because pound cake is flour, sugar, eggs and BUTTER. Need I say more.
Up next would be banana pudding. Mmmmm good.
I made apple crisp once for my kids - the eldest asked what it was and I do not know what possessed me to say (trying to be funny) I said "bunny guts." She was about 6 at the time and to this day will not eat apple crisp. Apparently it wasn't as funny as I thought. But I do love a good dump cake - essentially a cobbler but way easy.

Banana Pudding is the top one by far. However, the only banana pudding that counts is one topped with meringue, not with whipped topping and must have Nilla Wafers - not the store brand because folks I know can tell if you used the store brand vanilla wafers and will talk about you for months. Butter pound cake is a very close second with a touch of mace added in the batter before baking. (Mace is imperative to making a great Kentucky pound cake.

Can't make a pie to save my life, tho! 😂 Never made homemade pound cake, for that matter, either, but probably could, if I were so inclined to do so. I bake every Thanksgiving and Christmas. #3 would be banana pudding. Now, I know this is pure Blasphemy, being from Georgia, but I'm not fond of peaches, but I love me some peach cobbler! Weird, I know! I love fresh picked blackberries and cream and blackberry cobbler, too. By the way, my dad was from Meridian, MS and I have parts of my family that was from the Laurel area. Not sure if anyone still lives in the the area anymore or not. They are more distant relatives (I do genealogy research). But whenever I watch Ben and Erin's show I always watch for names I recognize from my family. 😁
