I've been waiting for this game for a LONG time. Mario 35 is Nintendo's new Battle Royale... it's fun as heck, unique in its gameplay style and I experienced no lag whatsoever. Is this the real future of Mario?

Mario Speedrunners turn into chumps when you throw RNG into the mix lol. They depend on consistent enemy spawns.
@@Scuuurbs That's the thing, their strategy is all about get to the end as fast as possible, but the game is all about survival. Kills as much as you can as fast as you can while performing combos for even more time while still progressing through the level. Honestly the winning strategy to me seems to be farm time and keep the fire flower (the only reliable hammer bro/bowser clearer). Now if this game threw lakitu's at us, lord help you.

you're wrong; it depends on the size of the "yu".
ちゅ = chu, but ちゆ = chiyu, and that's clearly what's displayed on the leaderboard.

I think it'd be cool if your enemy's little window got bigger as other people die. That way, if you're one of the last few players, you can clearly see what your opponents are doing.

Well, these are the levels from the very first Mario game. It's understandable if they didn't fully understand how to design fun Mario levels yet.
@@nick012000 I think he means that as opponents send more and more enemies onto the stages that's what makes them little Timmy levels, not the design itself
@@nick012000 It's because more and more enemies get spammed onto the stage in this game, which is something kids tend to do on mario maker because they think more enemies = difficulty

This looks really cool! I just wish there was a way to battle your opponents more directly. Also the timer should speed up way sooner so the matches don't last for 10 minutes. Looks like it could be really fun, though.
I assume the timer issue will resolve itself in due time(lol) at the moment everyone only has access to the first few levels, but once players will have to play the harder levels it won't be that easy to survive.
Just make losing your flower power straight to small mario like in the original. Problem solved.

Am I the only one who totally doesn’t wanna see that? The amount of time that he would have to sink trying to get 24 midairs in a row is so not worth it. I’d rather him spend that playing more no-skip super expert runs.

Yeah I am hoping their 'dumb' time limited policy is actually their secret way of ending the SMB season and moving onto SMB2, 3, world, etc.

I think I preferred the indie game, but I loved how Ryu liked this one, smiled, laughed, enjoyed. This made my day. And this continues in a few minutes at 8pm CET :) Thank you Ryu!

One thing this game has over the original SMB is if you get hurt with the fire flower, you don't become small.

so many variations and ideas they can implement!
Maybe it's available for a limited time... As a teaser for a full out Mario Royale throughout all the old Mario games? This is freeish so maybe it's just a test run...

Probably not.
This is definetly a test run for a game like this but don't expect the same concept pop up again within this generation of consoles.
If they are doing a test like this there is no development for a bigger project started yet. So at least 1,5 years from end of the "the test phase"
And in 2+ years the BR crayz will be dead and over soon...
They should have had a mode where you have to race the whole game and be the first one to finish it, I also wish they added more items to use on your opponents such as mines, walls etc. that would make it so much more fun!
I wonder how many of these are gonna end with two speed runners just duking it out XD That guy no doubt is probably a casual speed runner.

Honestly: It looks pretty boring having almost no influence on the other player's game. I'd rather have enemy points that you can collect to send more and more tougher enemies down the line. Or how about having a roulette that changes the stage like making platforms smaller or something.
Yeah it needs tougher enemies like bullet bills, squids, water level and other shit
Yeah, the difficulty needs to ramp up more quickly too. It was pretty tedious how long it dragged on with two competent players at the end
@@grass324 I imagine they have that in the later levels. But these people were both beginners to the game and they were playing on the first couple levels
As you get more experienced and unlock more courses, the tougher levels should come.

That second battle was an incredible match. This game looks absolutely fantastic! My only questions:
1) How hasn't this happened sooner

"Chuichi" is what the characters of the guys name say, or rather, what they most oftenly say, it could also be "chiyuichi", but with there being no spaces, i'm thinking its the former.

This game needs to start the red, ultra fast timer way earlier than it does. Every match ends up going way too long when you get down to the final 2 players. Other than that I'm loving it.

@ryukahr: Reason you did not die at the moving shell since it was moving to the right, you hit it on the left side, so it will just kick it for more shell speed toward the right, they added modern mechanic to Super mario bros. 1 for the battle royal
A Mario Battle Royale?! That sounds awesome! It's almost like I've seen this exact idea be very popular somewhere else before!
This is the perfect example of the biggest problem with this game. When you get to the final 2 people, you're both giving each other a load of enemies to kill, so you're getting loads of time, so neither of you will time out
It' good seeing you enjoying an online mode without the lag that makes you bail immediately.

The good part about designing a battle royale this way: No lag.
The bad part about designing a battle royale this way: Virtually no interaction with other players. It takes the "battle" out of "battle royale" and turns the game into Competitive Solitaire.

So it's pretty clear that they built a specific type of game engine for Tetris '99. They made that game engine to allow insertion of hacked NES ROMs and have the ability to alter those ROMs on the fly, kind of like the Japanese only Broadcast System of the 1980s early 90s..
It always frustrated me when you wouldn't pick up the spare fire flowers despite the time running out so quickly.
Or the number of times he skipped hitting a block with star power.

Seems like the strategy would be to get to later levels to win. Throw spiny, hammer brothers, and lakitu at your opponents running around in 1-1.
The biggest thing I noticed is taking damage as Fire Mario makes you Super Mario instead of small

@Phoenix Rose he probably played the first Mario Bros only one time in a legit way and all the other times he played it for a speedrun to finish the game under 5 minutes, so it's not surprising he doesn't know where all the good stuff actually is in all the levels
They should add different game modes and styles like SMB3, that would be so fun

I was in a game for like 15 mins. It's fun at first, but I never could get past 3-2. You end up doing 1-1 over and over and over and over again, it just ends up being boring.
