    Delta does a really good job at keeping their older planes like the 767 and 757 up and running in good shape, constantly upgrading their older planes. Credit to the way how Northwest Airlines would keep their old planes in good shape(they had 747-200s and DC-10s running from the 1970s all the way to the later 2000s

    Congrats, that's exactly what I expect from a flight review. No constant ego trip blah blah, just the info I appreciate. Seat configuration, menu, meals, flat bed, and I really like how the music was tastefully interjected. I never understand why folks make flight review videos, that show 90% the view out of the window, and 10% of the service etc.

    Lovely video. I grew up on Long Island, and used to watch the planes coming in to JFK, Runway 13R which is where you just landed. I had no idea that you were medical. I went to school in Italy, and it was always sheer bliss returning home, usually on KLM 641, down that same runway. And now I live in Atlanta - married to Delta. I was back in New York for the first time in many years last month. The view approaching the Island from the South, identifying the old landmarks brought a big smile. Had you been sitting in 3A, you would have seen my high school, the local water tower, Belmont racetrack if you knew where to look. Unfortunately, the area is not what it was when I grew up there. But thank you for this little tad of nostalgia. And for the record, the Delta 767 Business class product has got to be one of the worst, and most expensive out there. The food and wine is very good, but that seat is cramped as hell, with absolutely no stowage space. But hey, any chance to cross the ocean is a good one, and for the future, you do a lot of flying over the continental shelf. The water isn't as deep there. Hope this helps for next time.

Looking forward to returning next year to attend the Passion Play at Obergammerau. Trying to make arrangements with our group to fly business class. That’s the one thing with Delta, the age of their 767 fleet. They use that aircraft on most of their transatlantic routes too. I’m doing a transatlantic trip soon taking 767-300 there and A330 back, curious to see which plane if prefer.

    • @random3802
      @random3802 5 лет назад

      Quote Earlier comment The 767s are safe! Something most people don’t know about Delta is that they have their own subsidiary called Delta TechOps, which consists of a massive maintenance network of tons of experienced people and a massive warehouse of stocked parts which not only services Delta’s planes, but airlines like Hawaiian, Air Canada, UPS, etc all have contracts with TechOps to do their planes, so Delta fixes other airlines aircraft! They seem to have things figured out and done right when it comes to maintenance

    This was one of the options on my list. UK based, so Manchester is my nearest airport with easy access. As well as Liverpool. I was thinking this flight with the Delta One product or Aer Lingus with their business product. Last time I checked, Aer Lingus worked out a little bit more expensive 10-15% but you get the benefit of US pre clearance in Dublin Airport. Plus a more modern aircraft.
    As someone that suffers from anxiety and a bit of a nervous flyer (I'm OK once in the air though), having US pre clearance in Dublin would help me relax more because I knew I could just walk out the exit at JFK.
    What are your thoughts between Delta and Aer Lingus?

    • @luxurytravelexpert
      @luxurytravelexpert  5 лет назад +2

      Aer Lingus and Delta feature a very similar hard product, but I prefer Aer Lingus' soft product (and their planes' interiors feel fresher).

      Any idea why it still uses vintage 767 ? Sometimes I feel a bit concerned about such an old aircraft, especially when in Asia, the avg age is just around 5.5 years for an aircraft & major airlines retire aircraft once they become 10 years old. The upcoming Emirates review will only show the major gap between Asian & US carriers.
      Btw, on several routes, Qatar first class is cheaper than BA business class :P.

    My flight to FCO earlier this year on a 767-400 in 1A featured a bulkhead with a cracked and chipped molding and the covering pulled away in places, extremely worn seat covers, an IFE system that had to be rebooted twice before it quit altogether and a seat stuck in the upright position for two hours.

    I just took this between JFK and Frankfurt. The Tumi kit was a hard case that you can get monogrammed for free. The food was very good and you can preorder before your flight. As far as the domestics go, it is much better than United and a little better than American on the same route (Newark and Dulles for the other two). Luftansa is marginally better, and Singapore is better by a little more. They use the 767 on the this route as well, but word is the cabin will be renovated by the end of 2020.

    HMMM.....he's broken his alcohol rule on board.
    More importantly, Dr. LTE reviews are much more honest and telling as the airline social media teams > flight crews have no idea who he is. Hence the service cannot be padded like they are for Sam Chui and others. And we viewers get a more 'like it is' review.
    Looking forward to this review, however, can already sense it won't be stellar.

    Interesting that you studied in NYC, Dr. LTE. Speaking of NYC and your dislike of flying over water, I happened to see the film "Sully" on tv tonight, which recounted Capt. Sullenberger's famous landing of US Airways Flt 1549 (Airbus A320) in the Hudson River. Perhaps all airplanes should be equipped with giant (retractable) pontoons like a sea plane--lol. Anyway, Delta is not as bad as some other US airlines, in my limited experience. At least you could completely recline in business class and to me, that would be everything :-)

    • @luxurytravelexpert
      @luxurytravelexpert  5 лет назад +1

      IMHO, Delta is ok as well. I know that many complain about their older planes and cabin crew, but their planes are very well maintained and their older flight attendants are much more experienced compared to some Asian and Middle Eastern airlines (which gives me comfort of mind when flying them). Did the rain already arrive in San Francisco? :-)

    • @6falconsue
      @6falconsue 5 лет назад +1

      We haven't had rain since early last spring. The whole damn state is filled with smoke from fires in Northern and Southern California. Even in the Bay Area people are wearing masks when they go outside. I stayed in all day. The sun was a big bright red ball in the sky but the smoke made it seem like thick fog.

    Just one error in your video. JFK does not offer service to all 6 continents. You cannot fly from JFK to Australia direct. There are no US based airports that have flights to all 6 continents.

      @@ronalddavid8082 Quantas only has direct flights to Los Angeles, Dallas and San Francisco. They do not fly direct to New York. There are other airlines that flight direct from Austrailia to the US but none to JFK.

    Im sorry its hard to watch your videos, the video part is really great! but it is royally annoying to keep shifting your eyes down to read the words that appear every 3 seconds, do a voice over it would be much more watchable

    I flew Delta One in a similar 767 from Orlando to Amsterdam a few months ago. The lay flat seat is too narrow, a very uncomfortable bed for this class of travel. Delta’s entertainment system in the 767 is substandard, very few choices of movies and other entertainment. The 777 and Airbus flights are far better.

      I disagree about the 777 and the Airbus a330. The 777 herringbone layout just is weird because your feet near others and even if you have a window seat you are facing away from the window. In the a330 middle seats, your feet are almost touching others, and the IFE moves a lot. And actually, the with is about the same as on planes (fluctuating about 3ins.), but I think that the new "Delta One Suites" are very nice.

      They’re now retrofitting all their 767s with brand new seats, IFE systems, and the Delta One Suites

    • @dawndeahl3151
      @dawndeahl3151 5 лет назад

      @@ethancedrik No. They are retrofitting the 767-400s only and they're not doing a suite. There not eve solving the problem because they are taking an inch off the seat.

    Flew many times on Delta One. A 330 and 767. The 767 scared me. Just a real old plane with outdated amenities. Delta needs a major revamp.

      Delta's Airbus A350 planes are pretty amazing (with suites in Business Class)

    Oh, this wasn't you. Could explain why "you" were late. You forgot to tell your stand-in that you don't drink alcohol while flying. He did an admirable job though. Hope you are feeling well if you weren't.

    first of all thank you. VERY VERY AVERAGE MEAL SERVICE. Well, no luxury at all.
    Black Forest ham tried to get an explaination and here it is. Meat looked clearly like Black Forest HAM. Being from Germany this might have been the reason for this Appetizers Name.
    No please not Delta
