  • Mac OSX Hides many files and folders from view that are important to run the system. If you need access to these files and folders, this video will show you how to see those hidden items.
In the versions of Mac OS X newer than Sierra, it is quite simple.
If you have an older version of Mac OS X like ElCapitan or Sierra, this command will not work. This video will show you how to use the Command Line to show hidden files on mac OS X.

You're freakin AWESOME!! THANK YOU!!! I needed to get some files off a Windows SSD (it was formatted in windows too) that for some reason can't be read in Windows but it can in Mac OS and I needed the AppData folder. This worked great!! Just a note, you didn't put it into the video description.

How do you "lock" the finder box size? I keep making the finder box bigger so that I can see more folders but when I close it it reverts back to the default size. I want to size the box as I see fit and keep it that way. Is there a way to stop the finder box size from changing back? I have tried holding down both the options key and also the command key and then re-sizing but those dont last. Thanks for your help. I am running High Sierra on mid 2012 macbook pro.

On my Mac, when I resize a finder window, if I leave it the same size and then open a new finder window, then the second one will be the same size. There isn't a way as far as I know to set it in preferences to always be a certain size.

@@GemsbokAppleTipsandTricks Mine does that for a time, then if I open multiple folders or and external drive, etc the window size reverts back to default. Same with all the high sierra app programs. Chrome or Safari or itunes etc you can enlarge the window but as soon as you close it and reopen it the window size goes back to default. I wish there was a way to keep the window size how the user wants it permanently ie lock it into place.
