yea thats actually got a full 110 going through that switch unlike modern computers with a few volts.. i remember as a kid working on my pc puting the side back on not noticing it pinched the wire going to a switch like that.. boy did it let out a loud pop!!!
Best HDD sounds on those IBM ps/2. I remember working on these back in early 90s all hardware was specifically designed for that IBM , you couldn't just throw in a 3.5 ide HD in there lolz
Luckily this one has 3 standard 8bit ISA slots, the FDD and HDD motherboard interfaces are both proprietary though 😭. This one has an MFM HDD which unfortunately takes up an ISA slot.

a wall of nostalgia thrown at me! I have a PS/2 - being restored. The HDD is dead. I NEED one! I need to hear that squeaky noise! And I also NEED a model M keyboard! :) Thanks for that!
Well, I can’t say scientifically why we find the sounds so satisfying/pleasant, but perhaps it’s a nostalgia thing, or maybe it’s how the sounds make the technology feel powerful even though it’s actually outdated and far outstripped by later iterations of the technology.
What an amazing set of sounds and keyboard clicks that don't exist today. It was such a magical time. That version of Star Wars kicks on the 8 bit Atari computer version I received for Xmas back in 84?
I went back in time 40 years. Good memories of when I was a teenager and believed that technology would make us better. I don't know if it worked. Thanks for the video and the reflection..
As an a person with autism, I’ve always loved the sounds that old tech makes, it’s the only part of the past that I actually miss in the modern era, the sounds are like music to my ears.
That was our first office computer. Once when we upgrade systems to one with a 100mb hard drive, I can remember the manager saying "Wow, that hard drive is as big as a freight train!". 🤣
I had 15 of these computers at my first job. It was the late '90s. The technology was unkillable, but at that time it was hopelessly outdated. students used them to study MS-DOS.
really nice mate. definately want one of those. i got an IBM PC XT. love the button for the psu. but i still have a sealed copy of IBM dos 5.0. so im stil waiting for an PS/2 system to try it :)))
We lived on those days when the HDD noise was more than the fan noise 😅
Haha yes! 😂
Oh yes
Original ps/2 hdd, more silence that..
HDD is louder then fan?
WOW. I didn't expect.
Я жил во времена когда HDD еще не существовал 😂
The sound of the disk, pure nostalgia
