Mitch and Scott can both rap quite well! There are a number of other examples: Their cover of Problem as others have mentioned, their 2016 Popspring performance of Can't Sleep Love, one of their early videos Starships (Nicki Minaj cover), and another Macklemore cover Thriftshop. Mitch (and to a lesser extent Scott) also rap in a few Superfruit videos: Feeling Myself, Empire Medley, and their January 2014 episode called Two Zero One Four. Another comment on this video-their outfits and the backgrounds are meant to reflect their personalities--so when each person is center front all the rest are dressed in the style of that person. Kevin is religious and classically trained, so they are in formal wear in the chapel. Mitch was kind of nerdy in high school, so that's the outfits when he is center front. Scott's vibe is more just all around "cool kid", Kirstie's is somewhat goth/theater kid, and Avi's is country/nature oriented. Then when they are all together in a line, they each have their own outfits on, diversity coming together through music. The behind the scenes video that was referenced at the end of this one is fun, would be a good watch on your own time.
Upvote Thrift Shop! PTX often “cleans up” lyrics to make them more acceptable for a wider audience (or to be cognizant of Kevin’s religious beliefs)…..and sometimes they personalize the lyrics to themselves, but it’s seamless either way. 😊

I rank this so high up on my list for PTX, I love everything about it, the beat, the bars, the movement…it is a spectacular display of everything this group can do. The first time I heard it, I paused so many times. 😂 They can do any genre: classical, gospel, rap, pop, classic rock, country.... they have so much talent is hard to even fathom!

This was the opening track on the genius level PTX Volume 2. It also included Daft Punk, and the originals Love Again, and Run to You. PTX is a magical musical box of chocolates. Each 'chocolate' can be a different genre. Pentatonix is truly genre-less which may be why they don’t get airplay. They aren’t a pop group because they won a Grammy for arranging a medley of Daft Punk EDM songs. They aren’t an EDM group because their second Grammy was from arranging Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy a classical tune from The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky. They aren’t a classical group because they won their third Grammy with country icon Dolly Parton singing a remake of Jolene a country song. They are a jack of all genres (trades) but they are truly Masters of all of it.

Some of the lore regarding this recording. If you go back and watch it again, you'll see that each of them are featured in scenes that represent parts of the personalities. Kevin was raised in the church (and is a faithful Christian), so it starts with him. Scott is more casual, maybe like a "skater boy", Kirsten shows off her "goth" style and mentions Broadway in her rap...she appeared on Broadway in Kinky Boots. Mitch's scene highlights a nerdiness, that is part of his personality and Avi is shot with nature and mountains...he grew up in California and loves the outdoors which he still reflects in his own music. I understand their is a "behind the scenes" on this one, but I've never seen it myself. If you haven't been informed previously, Scott, Mitch and Kirsten grew up together...in Texas! All together, they make a great group that sings fantastic music!

Ooh well if you do decide to branch off to other things again I HIGHLY recommend the Superfruit vlogs!! Every single one of them is hilarious, but the Yoga Challenge is one I usually recommend first because it’s just so funny. Then if you want to see more of their friendship The Boyfriend Tag is a good one, and also More Likely To. There’s also a few where they react to their old performances, but one of those is them reacting to their Sing Off performances and you should definitely watch all their Sing Off performances first before watching their reaction to them. There’s SO MANY other amazing ones too, but these are the first ones that came to my mind. Also if you want to get to know all the members of Pentatonix a bit better I recommend a series called PTXperience. It’s something they started all the way back in 2014 that gives a behind the scenes look into their tour life. If you want to, you could react to all the episodes in order (maybe one or two episodes per week or something since the earlier ones especially are quite short) and that way you’d get to see the growth and progression of their shows over the years all the way to present day. I know this is all quite a lot though and you obviously have plenty of other things to react to as well so I understand if you can’t react to them, but I thought I’d still put the idea out there just in case 😄. Anyway I'm very excited to see your future reactions, no matter what you decide to do!
