Some of my favorites from The Carpenters:
-We've Only Just Begun (Borrowed from a bank commercial and made into a hit)
-Close to You
-This Masquerade
-Solitaire
-I Need to Be in Love
-Now (The last song they recorded before she died)
Also, not a single song perse, but a medley of Karen Carpenter and Ella Fitzgerald on a TV special called Music Music Music (1980) is really great and proves she can sing ANY style of music, even if it's not her own.

Song written by Paul Williams. Two best songs on that album are Superstar and Rainy Days and Mondays. The rest of the album is very good.
