How does shaft diesels, full keel, shallow draft and long range sound to you? If it's a capable platform that's already proved herself with around 70 hulls built then this Scimitar is worthy of your attention.
This is a boat for the Aussie or American explorer who's already done the 4X4 thing and is now ready to see the world from a whole different perspective. Ex Sailors who appreciate healthy fuel consumption and basically anyone who know's what they want out of their boat life and understands that over complicated platforms are not ideal for remote location cruising.
Scimitar has a great story and a bright future under her new stewardship. If you have a dream in mind then this Scimitar 1010 is likely able to get you there.
Enjoy

New drinking game: a shot each time Dan says “no nonsense”, down a beer each time Dan says “protected by the keel”….
“No nonsense” is code for “this boat is basic as all shit and they haven’t changed it since the late 80s”
Anywhere close to a mill for this rig is outrageous. Love the look and cockpit though. Love to see what she does w double the horsepower.
I would believe it, I've driven a few of them. Please do the 1770 if possible.
Now do a full walk through and fuel burn on the 1770- cos that’s a boat I would be interested in - the 1010 is lovely but too small for live aboard and too large to store unless you have waterfront property of your own
Sorry I forgot my manners - please do the 1770 next - thank you and love your channel
The Holden Belmont.
Looks like a great boat for Keys & Bahamas... shallow draft.. simple design.
7 knots something at 1800 now 2800 rpm 6.2 knots? Did I miss something or did you mix up the consumption and knots?
20L at 12
13 at 10
8 at 8 4mpg at 8 knots
What? You say at 6:07 6,2 knots ? Looking much faster?
No 16kts
@@BoatLife_DansBoatLife OK ! But it sounds like You are saying " I am getting six point two knots" at 6:07. Anyway a very nice cat!
@@BoatLife_DansBoatLife You had better post a correction, you say six point two.
18.4mph at 7gph. Pretty damned impressive. Aside from him saying 6.2 knots. 😂
@@marvindebot3264 he can easily add the correction as a text on the video!
My cummins 3.3 uses 2.2L/hr at 1800rpm. Not sure this would be classified as "low" fuel consumption.
Btw, "no nonsense" =cheap
Engein room lay out same seateay sundacers😅
20.w knots
18 knits 18 livers per hiur 1 cures per moh
How much?
1.175m aud
@@glennsattSeriously ? That is way way over priced.
@@alexpervanoglu7420 that is what I found when I looked for this model for sale. I imagine you could get 10-15% off. I agree it (as most boats) is vastly over priced. Cheers!
@@glennsatt I think this one is $975,000 AUD (its in the description) and the more expensive ones listed have a lot of extra options installed
Could this be a long range full time yacht?
Yes absolutely
2.5 liters per hour idel
89$ filled the yacht for 4 months & 1255 miles ?
13 liter at 6 knots 3.333 gph bit very slow soeed
Actually, it was 16 knots. Dan made mistake/pronounced it wrong
This why we dunt anyway hunatee too sliw fir god dunt wat slow efect speed give us 21 knots same cunsuimotuon beter
That boat should cruise comfortably at 30 knots! Pathetically slow and under powered.
Dan, that looked more like 15-20kn than 6.2!?!?
And if it was 6.2kn, 13L per hour per side would be toooo much.
Yes I miss spoke i meant to say 16
@@BoatLife_DansBoatLife 😂👍👍👍
@@BoatLife_DansBoatLife we have 30° in Poole (UK) today… just about to head out ourselves… maybe breakfast at Studland Bay and then on round to Lulworth Cove for lunch and swims.
Great videos. Keep up the good work mate 👍
Yeah, Nah, 1 Toilet and Shower and right next to the Living area and Kitchen, No thanks, No shade out back, and we live in QLD the Sun Cancer capital of the world, and if the weather turns the ride back to home, no protection up there from the rain from any angle, plus no internal stairs for the same reason, your wet before you even set sail and dangerous wet ladder.
