You may initially like this product like I did but after using it for several months I found that it requires higher air pressure to not sit too deep into the travel and only adds ramp up at the very end of the stroke on my stumpjumper Evo 2020. Going back to the stock link provided much better mid stroke support and a pedaling platform. I can finally pump the bike and get some feedback and speed from it You can also simply increase your shock stroke if you wanted more travel but do not want to experience some of the downsides of the cascade link solution.
interesting! what rear shock is on the 2020 EVO? i think the Deluxe Ultimate may have been a lucky choice here. the original DPS was 190lbs for a 25% sag for me and the Deluxe 230lbs for a 25%. i think that's why i didn't have to up the air pressure as recommended. i don't really notice the ramp up, no changes to climbing here. we have a 23 switchback climb trail, can't feel a difference. i think the one difference that is an absolute game changer is the compression settings have been reset. i went from - to +, meaning i gained two clicks of compression select for the rowdy days. i wonder if the EVO is already slacked out enough and the link has a different feel. i know i wouldn't put it on my 2022 Enduro, it doesn't need it!

perfect! glad it helped. no noticeable difference in climbing. i’m really happy with the link. i did notice the bump in better tracking and less bottom out, totally worth it. two friends have the EVO, the Stumpy is faster on flow trails and keeps up in the rowdy. i have an Enduro. i’d say the EVO is closer to the Enduro.
Hi Shane, thanks for the update. Before installing the cascade link did you try using a larger volume spacer in the rear shock either with the Deluxe or the original DPS? That should also reduce bottoming out. Thanks! Raffa
hey Raffa! i didn't have one on hand, thought about it. i was 99% happy with the Deluxe, the DPS too - i thought i could do 2 for 1 with the link. little more travel and help on the progression. if you toss a spacer in, let me know how you like it!

My question is can you put 140mm or even 150mm on the middle with the cascade? or you advice, stay with 130mm but like an fox float x2 on even yrs super deluxe 190x45 with the cascade and 150mm on front? Because i was like could i upgrade it to 160 140/150? But by you it seems like you prefer to stay near the original spec. Plus im 1.77m 75kg and i pick an s3, maybe trying to make a small size in something planted for speed doesnt make alot of sense? Thanks!
absolutely makes sense! i'd stick with the 130mm and let the link provide 10mm more travel. you would need another yoke to get a 140 or 150 to mount properly. i have exactly what i need with 150 / 140, being that the rear is 130 plus the 10 from the link. bike feels like so much more now.
if you really want 160 / 150, sell your frame and shock and get the Stumpy EVO frame and shock. may line you up to have to get a new fork, but at least the bike would be right and not stretched.
@@ShaneScrimager I bought the bike 7 months back, and i am not that agressive rider, i love to ride the trails and do some jumps but i also climb alot i am an entry enduru this one is my first real bike, last one i had was when i was a kid, but i never lost the ability! For now what i feel is my middle shock is almost always on his max capability, my front fox 34 shock i can adjust abit more and i can make it work but the middle one... I am trying to prevent mistakes like upgrading slowly and always reaching its max capacility. Do you think your super delux nails it or you advice me to get the fox float for example? You never talk much about your front shock that i assume it do the job very well Now that i know abit what i like, and the prices decreased atleast on my country i would pick the Evo comp Alloy for sure but... i have to use what i have and dont take me wrong, stump comp alloy is a very solid bike. Your videos are exactly what i was searching for and thanks for the fast response!
@@fishingoccasions1034 a piggy back on the shock will help with long days or laps at the bike park. it sounds like you may want to try spacer in the shock to ramp up the performance. adding air doesn't really do the same. the Super Deluxe and DPS2 are awesome, it may give you that bump in performance, combo that with the link and your ready to rock!
Hi Shane, after some months with the stumpy comp alloy, with pike ultimate at 150 on the front...i'm at the point to look at the cascade link. Because with stock link and oem fox dps, i need to bump like 20 psi MORE than recommended PLUS a bigger token 0.8 instead stock 0.6. I got the bottom out resistance, but i lost small bump sens ( i feel the stiffnes of rear end on the rocky terrain) . i'm at 73kg with gear and at 200/210 psi instead 185 recommended from specy. So i'm here to ask: do you really suggest the cascade link? your is the only review on youtube with the stumpy. so i'm asking you becasue it's a bit pricy... like with 50/100 more bucks i can get a new RS super deluxe... but maybe only the cc link, can give me a better result even with stock dps.... any advice? thanks a lot
hi Andrea! i would go with the Super Deluxe. i swapped to a Deluxe Ultimate before i put the Cascade Link on. the Cascade Link only sweetened the setup. rear shock 1st, then if you need that little bit more Cascade Link.

I mean, the benefit of cascade link, goes beyond the "self tuning" with lsc/hsc or with the knobs, i can get same "cascade link" feeling? (most interested on compliance on rocky terrain) have nice ride!
@@XqDezzy10 yer still at 130mm! it’ll take you to 140, that much more bump compliance and bottom out. if you’re not pushing your stumpy to its end, clapping, there’s no need.
I have now the same bike as you, and I’m wondering if put a rs pike ultimate rct3 at 150mm will overwhelm the rear dps stock shock (without cascade link) In another video you did it… do you think that a top end fork on the front, plus 10mm more will push the rear dps to his limits? Like the front will eat all the rock and the rear will suffer? Or something like that… Ty
you'll be fine. it didn't effect the DPS. you could play with the rebound / compression if you feel your able to ride faster / harder. a click or two faster each i bet.

@@XqDezzy10 that offset may feel real weird. going to rake out the front a little and make tight turns odd. i would swap em out and give it a light test ride. nothing big, just to get used to the difference in the offset.

That sounds like a shock issue, not a link issue.

on the EVO sounds great, too much for the stumpy. would make it crap on turning and cornering. going straight, would be great!
Respectfully, I’m running 160 up front and it handles great and zero downsides that I’ve noticed.
