FF7R, Persona 5 Vanilla and Royal on PS, Aegis Rim 13 Sentinels, Neo: TWEWY Octopath 2, and even the remastered Nier Replicant----- they actually looked great on their trailers and on the released version. I will include TLOU2 love or hate that game, even that looked more next gen than cyberscam 2077.
The most important part of criticizing is for the consumer to criticize it with your wallet and not only with your mouth or cellphone; do it right and be strong, don't become a bitch of corporates that can stop himself of buying the latest hot product
I instantly subbed on the first video and just wanted to say I've been here from the start and never disappointed by a single thing you have uploaded so far. great job on all of the things.
True that, I always watch the E3 (or it's replacements) with friends and all those cinematic trailers? We just beg to show us actual gameplay please, as those cinematics aren't even hooking us anymore... Well and if they than show gameplay, 9/10 times it looks like the most boring game ever.
None of this matters if you have developed self control. Which, in the current age of instant gratification and impulsivity... Good luck 👍 A few simple rules: #1. Never pre-order, wait for reviews. #2. Never buy something you just found out about without waiting 24hrs to think critically about it. #3. Don't buy things you can't pay cash for!
Gamers are the dumbest fan base. "Don't buy something before you know its quality" is one of the most obvious tenets of being a consumer. But apparently this is too hard for gamers to grasp. Gamers buy garbage so studios sell them garbage. I don't think this will ever be solved forever.
I generally wait a month or more before I buy a new game. Enough time for patches to come out and make it actually work. I also never pre-order and will NOT do early access ever again. No backing either, if I'm paying money for a game it MUST be finished.
Everyone learns #1 sooner or later. I learned sooner with MW3, BF3 and BO2. I saw a friend learning it with No Man's Sky. Now there's Cyberpunk to teach the lesson.
Reminds me of when I first heard the term "false advertising" on the early days of the internet, making it sound like it's a bad thing when ads already always lie to your face. It was like hearing wet water is actually illegal.
I Hope that there can be more and more well made indie video games do that more people can see, that most phenomenal games are made by people with a Passion and a clear vision. Not cotporations pumping out titles every other year.
While I agree. I also think this can be extended to so called mid-tier games. Now many games label as indie have publishers behind it which does not fit to original indie title definition. To me one of the success stories of mid-tier game is Hellblade. It also fit into was was said in the video be honest. The team had 10M GBP budget, cut almost all marketing doing it via social media and dev diaries. Managed to create a game using a unique subject as focal point. And they succeeded with ROI they got earlier than expected, awards, good sales and good reception of the game.
I like playing games for the story. I could read a book, but I can't control that character like I can in a video game. Same goes for movies/shows. Yeah the plot usually still ends up about the same. But the difference is I chose the path to the destination. I made the decisions that helped me get to the finish. And often times I just get so lost in the world I just sometimes forget to reach the destination. lol
about cyberpunk 2077, my take is that, the project was so huge for cd projekt to handle. they ran out of budget, they couldn't complete what they started and failed to fulfill their promise... but as you see today they keep up working on it after selling a few and still working on updating and upgrading it so they turned that broken game into a top game of all time... even when game released, it was so much better than competitors we all saw that game worths something and it's not a cash grab like many other huge titles despite they couldn't deliver it so I don't think they tried to bribe us
The unfortunate part is that people don't care, no matter how much the game improves you'll have people that either never played it to begin with or haven't played it since the release complaining and whining about it.

This title reminded me of Anthem & man I so wish that game lived up to it's potential. The concept itself was really cool so I just couldn't see how it failed so badly.
@4:10 I laughed, "psychological" :D Anyway, it's a lot to with with trust more than marketing, if you've played the Witcher 3, you expected Cyberpunk to be at least somewhere close to that level of quality, because of CDPR, not because of the trailers. It's like a brand name, people buy the new iPhones without researching what additional changes they bring over the previous model, because they trust Apple as a brand, not because of some ads.
With more and more people are unearthing these frauds, I genuinely believe that companies will try to improve on this as their selling point. "Look, we are not doing bad games anymore! Not like the others!"
@@Justsomerandomdude397 They really didn't, especially not anymore than most triple A games. At least they actually stuck around to improve their game, but mfers just want something to bitch about because that's all the gaming community is good for anymore
thats a cheap thumbnail. Johnny Silverhand always shows up in high quality. And the trailers dont look like theyre pushing custom cars, theyre showing the stats of the different types of cars. And you have to be really dumb by saying the immersive CGI isnt using a train in the game. Its part of the story to depict the people's everyday lives in CGI compared to gameplay. Cyberpunk did this, but so does ElderScrolls Online showing massive open worlds and battlefields. Its never meant to give you a preview of a game, its to enhance the lore as its really seen outside gaming limits. I for one appreciate the CGI movies for my games. If you dont, thats your loss. Who even sees CGI and trailers as gameplay? lol
>Nintendo >No trickery behind their marketing Hey remember that SMT x Fire Emblem crossover we were supposed to get and then we got Tokyo Mirage Sessions? Yeeeeaaaaahhh.....
@@oo--7714 there are fans of that game and the switch version incorporates all the dlc because the NA version doesn't have DLC in the shop. it still counts because they advertised something entirely different and the end product was a lie. stop boot licking.
Only thing I disagree with is them talking about cyberpunk 2077. Cdred wanted to delay the game. But fans sent death threats and investors forced the release. You can't be mad at the company when all of this is public record. They wanted to give the people the whole game on the lower systems instead of what they repeatedly said was not ready to ship.
One thing I've always hated is cinematic trailers that show nothing of the gameplay. I love trailers that look cool, but don't even come close to how cool the game is, like Vintage Story. All in all, I won't buy anything from a major studio until I've pirated it first to see how it plays, if they don't have a demo, or have loved something they've already released like Spiderweb, Runic, or Unknown Worlds. My favorite way to find a game is on Twitter. The devs publish short gameplay clips or screenshots long before it's released... though waiting can suck... lol
This is bad, that companies show us a video what they WANT to create, not what they already got. So then later the game comes out aaaand this is not what we saw, it's worse than what they show us earlier....
I have recently been thinking about marketing a game by referencing a book. For example 'The Invincible' grabbed my attention by saying that its based on a book writen by Stanislaw Lem. But also we have 'Atomic Heart', wich in a lot of ways references 'We' - a book by Yevgeni Zamyatin, but 'Atomic Heart' never used it as a marketing tool. So, does this type of marketing really work? Is this type of games overall succesfull? I would be glad if you would make a video about that
10:09 was sword and shield truly broken on launch? I know that scarlet and violet was, but when it comes to sword and shield, I thought it was just the trees that were.... off...
i would say final fantasy 7 ps1 was the first commercial i saw that used only the fmv to sell it. and back then we didnt call them trailers per say but commercials, the smash bros was a commercial, trailers were for game shows like ces or e3. i just found your videos and am loving them.
7:11 it’s funny you say this is what happens when the “smartest”people are commissioned to sell a product. I’ve always seen it as these people are willing to sell out humanity to make a small group way more profitable.
It’s crazy how Nintendo a company who used to be known for releasing games super polished and now they release their biggest IP Pokemon running and optimized like diarrhea.
The most common for playing a video game is also about escapism. For example, we as civilians don't like to go to actual wars and suffer in one, but we play as a soldier and shoot guns and die and then respawn. Or owning luxurious cars when you don't actually have the real money to do so. It's all about escaping into your imagination world.
Hype is the biggest issue with any advertising. Just look at vehicle adverts, you hardly see the vehicle, and the small print, tells you that the model shown may not be available in your area, and the vehicle shown is always top of the range. I am longer in the tooth and it took me sometime to realise, that you don't need every product aimed at you. Over the past few years you see so many bad after tastes from AAA studios, but people will pre order them again and again. I find it better to wait a few months and let them iron out most of the issues, and probably a steam sale to purchase the game, like CyberPunk 2077, same with Starfield.
I played Assassin Creed 2 and I was done with Assassin Creed,I played Skyrim and I was done with Bathesda.I played one more AAA game and I was done with 95% AAA games. Why does it take people so long to get it?
the thing with advertising i feel is that it mainly works on those that actually have any interest in it. like me for example. when they show a new game i want in game, for me some cinematic is just kind of dull. And im not really sure that pic made me click this vid. more like the actual title.
Glad at least Detroit Become Human delivered though in terms of aesthetics. The trailer looks just like the actual gameplay. And there was indeed variety of outcomes. It may not be perfect especially in the plot but they did what they said. Great video btw just subbed!love ur insights.
My honest experience with cyberpunk was positive. I had 140 hours of fun with that game. The caveat being that I wasn’t watching the trailers, or expecting anything from the game. I had just bought my new pc at the time and was looking for a game, and cyberpunk launched 2 days later. With my pc being mid-high end it ran well, and was very fun to play. I can however see it from the perspective of someone with a ps4, that had been waiting a decade for that game. It would’ve been a massive disappointment.
I never got into the internet deep conspiracies and knew its a cyberpunk themey, open world, and it has the best graphics for benchmarks. Bought the game and its still amazing in every area except in the internet hate. why would a ps4 expect to handle a next gen game?
7:00, RUclips's AI from my account, trained by me, knows better than anyone what channels to recommend to me. 8:07, no, I clicked by the subject. I'm following those discussions about videogames being bad nowadays.
I only pirate Triple A games because they're made by big companies. I still sometimes pirate some indie game but I often pay for them afterwards because those indie studios really need our help. With the way that gaming is currently heading I'm more exited for a lot of upcoming indie games rather than Triple A games because the indie studios actually want to create good and fun games. That's their goal. The goal of the Triple A studios however is to make as much money as possible, it doesn't matter if the game is good or bad. That's why we're seeing so many half baked games lately
That's why I play games a year after release because its cheaper, fewer bugs, and I know what I'm buying. The game will always be buggy on release, unfinished content and no gameplay content available, etc. Because marketing trailer always show cutscene which are high quality rendered scenes. either used for marketing or movie scenes from the game.
This is the second video of yours I've watched so far where you mention games that I literally couldn't care less about like Starcraft or Diablo back at the time and I still never played them, don't care how popular they are. Anyways very informative vid. It's more on the general knowledge side of things. Yes, indie game developers have been my go to lately over mindless corporate (mostly western) companies and their childish decisions with the exception of a few of them. Look at rhe Overwatch PVE crap that recently happened. They hyped up the very thing that was supposed to be in Overwatch 2 just to later scrap it and add bits of story crap to it later. I don't play Overwatch, but I do like hearing negative news about big corpo companies and their stupid decisions that impact their entire reputation.
📌I stopped believing in trailers after Assassin's Creed 3. The trailer shows you darting across the battlefield assassinating generals, but the climax of the game was nothing like that. It was move to the left battalion and press x to fire, move to the right battalion and press x to fire, move to the left battalion and press x to fire, and finally move to the right battalion and press x to fire.
Cyberpunk is an amazing game now, took awhile but it really is. It's also more ambitious and complicated to make than other games that people praise. Elden Ring gets so much credit but compared to cyberpunk the world is completely dead and it doesn't look half as good.
What's the most honest game trailer you've seen? (Personally Last of Us Part 2 - I thought Gameplay and realism was exagerated, and it wasn't once I play).

That's why Evil West was my favorite game from last year. They showed actual gameplay in just about every trailer.
Funny thing is, even the trailers are disappointing nowadays 😅
Like movie trailers where you see all the good stuff in the trailer.
True that, I always watch the E3 (or it's replacements) with friends and all those cinematic trailers? We just beg to show us actual gameplay please, as those cinematics aren't even hooking us anymore... Well and if they than show gameplay, 9/10 times it looks like the most boring game ever.
When I see a trailer for what looks like a good game I go straight to RUclips and search game play. I haven't trusted marketing for many years now
this is why you always wait for the gameplay trailer before you get hyped for a game.
None of this matters if you have developed self control. Which, in the current age of instant gratification and impulsivity... Good luck 👍
A few simple rules:
#1. Never pre-order, wait for reviews.
#2. Never buy something you just found out about without waiting 24hrs to think critically about it.
#3. Don't buy things you can't pay cash for!
I use most of those
Gamers are the dumbest fan base.
It's funny how idiots are falling for cyberpunk all over again with the new dlc announcement
Amazing video man. Sick of boring content that lacks inspiration. Used many contentions to support your argument. Loving the content keep it up!
Reminds me of when I first heard the term "false advertising" on the early days of the internet, making it sound like it's a bad thing when ads already always lie to your face. It was like hearing wet water is actually illegal.
Just want to comment on how great all of your videos are! Keep up the amazing work man and I hope you get the subs you deserve sooner than later.
As someone who’s a fan of a genre the market will never push, I find it funny when they try to figure me out and fuck it up royally
love your channel!! keep up the great work :D
I like playing games for the story. I could read a book, but I can't control that character like I can in a video game. Same goes for movies/shows. Yeah the plot usually still ends up about the same. But the difference is I chose the path to the destination. I made the decisions that helped me get to the finish. And often times I just get so lost in the world I just sometimes forget to reach the destination. lol
Amazing analysis! You delivered more than I expected by the title. It must be a pattern in the game industry. Deliver more than we expect.
You can't be manipulated if you don't have money to buy the product😎
You are one of the best gaming informative channel I've seen
You’ve got to talk about Clone Drone In The Danger Zone. Its gameplay is the craziest I’ve ever experienced that’s not fast paced like a bullet hell.
Great work! Been following the channel since the start.
Indie Devs: you get what you see in the trailer
AAA companies: you get something vaguely related to what you see in the trailer 🤑
I like how he said his favorite example of this was target knows the teen daughter was pregnet before the dad did and amazing video man :]

about cyberpunk 2077,
my take is that, the project was so huge for cd projekt to handle. they ran out of budget, they couldn't complete what they started and failed to fulfill their promise... but as you see today they keep up working on it after selling a few and still working on updating and upgrading it so they turned that broken game into a top game of all time... even when game released, it was so much better than competitors
we all saw that game worths something and it's not a cash grab like many other huge titles despite they couldn't deliver it
so I don't think they tried to bribe us
The unfortunate part is that people don't care, no matter how much the game improves you'll have people that either never played it to begin with or haven't played it since the release complaining and whining about it.
@@jackcassidy9963 honestly they shouldn't had made them wait 7 years for the game lol, this fucking game's commercial came out before witcher 3 even released
"Even when the game released it was so much better than the competition " who?fucking ubisoft? Cause that game sure as fuck weren't or still touching anything by r* or any decent company when it released
Bro they cooked that since what 2016? and they released a buggy false promised unplayable ass game
@@Justsomerandomdude397 Idk who told y'all it was unplayable, but while developing the game they also created their own engine alongside it. Which was where the biggest issues came in, game development is hard af m8. Also mfers are still crying about "false promises" like just move on, the game came out 3 years ago
Yeah, I remember this during a Watch dogs trailer and The Division and oh boy, what a big drop difference you could see when you compare the two from the trailer that was shown to you!
division and division 2 are fine, no online games are perfect at launch

If you buy a heavy game made for pc i try to run in console it's what you get.
You're tripping. Sony is wayyy more honest than Nintendo
This title reminded me of Anthem & man I so wish that game lived up to it's potential. The concept itself was really cool so I just couldn't see how it failed so badly.
@4:10 I laughed, "psychological" :D
Anyway, it's a lot to with with trust more than marketing, if you've played the Witcher 3, you expected Cyberpunk to be at least somewhere close to that level of quality, because of CDPR, not because of the trailers.
You lost me at Nintendo being honest
I was going to go to sleep, but I stayed awake to watch your video. Super informative my guy. My mindset is clearer
I find that since I wait till a game is released to buy it I "generally" don't get screwed lol

Pretty common tactic in order to pull views is to put a Cyberpunk picture then try and find the worst image possible to use as a side by side
@@jackcassidy9963 bcuz its true cdpr fucked with us
@@Justsomerandomdude397 They really didn't, especially not anymore than most triple A games.
Who even sees CGI and trailers as gameplay? lol
0:45 let's be honest, if the trailer for a new smash was something like that, it would be legendary!
8:07 Bought CP2077 since launch and it didn't look like this. Am I missing something?
Depends on which platform, plus not all bugs are consistent
Man I love your content. Keep it up. I wanna see you grow up

No one plays that game nor cares about random dlc. Like seriously who pays for dlc.
@@oo--7714 there are fans of that game and the switch version incorporates all the dlc because the NA version doesn't have DLC in the shop.
it still counts because they advertised something entirely different and the end product was a lie. stop boot licking.
@@oo--7714 kids mad at people for spending their own money on a game they loved
I would be glad if you would make a video about that
You forgot the witcher
Good stuff! 🎉
Anybody knows what's the title of the game at 7:36? :)
It’s crazy how Nintendo a company who used to be known for releasing games super polished and now they release their biggest IP Pokemon running and optimized like diarrhea.
3:39 I need to say I love educational videos more than Entertaining videos
I can’t wait for this to blow up
What is the name of the game at 10:40 anyone know ?
Sad to see the gaming industry is far from being what it was. The charm has been lost, maybe we'll see a new golden age someday...
Haven't bought a new game in over a decade. Only spend modey in steam summer sales
the thing with advertising i feel is that it mainly works on those that actually have any interest in it. like me for example. when they show a new game i want in game, for me some cinematic is just kind of dull.
@@peacefusion because they advertised it as such.
I love what this channel is turning into
IDK how stupid and/or rich a man should be to buy a game if he just only watched it's trailer and never seen actual gameplay.
Always remember... pirate first and buy if it's good. NEVER PREORDER. Unless it's Yakuza.
This Video is truly great, i‘d appreciate it, if you would upload more content like this!

The video was perfect❤
love this etyle of video and topic, great job!
Can you give us more examples in a video of how game trailers compare to gameplay?
RUclipsr "crowbcat" has a few videos that cover exactly that
📌I stopped believing in trailers after Assassin's Creed 3. The trailer shows you darting across the battlefield assassinating generals, but the climax of the game was nothing like that. It was move to the left battalion and press x to fire, move to the right battalion and press x to fire, move to the left battalion and press x to fire, and finally move to the right battalion and press x to fire.
Plus points for Leroy Jenkins. I have fond memories from when I was young and my dad showed it to me.
Game trailer are starting to put not gamelan or not the finish product in some of there trailers which I think is helpful
