As a Korn fan & long time SH fan, I was happy they announced he would be providing the vocals for the intro! I do understand and feel like I know why they were upset about the song though. Because Akira Yamaoka and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn weren’t involved, it had been fighting an uphill battle. When people disliked the game too? That’s the nail in the coffin. Personally I love all of these songs. Downpour’s soundtrack still works but but many just were too attached to the familiarity of the Yamaoka/McGlynn duo. Since he’s coming back for the SH2 remake though, here’s hoping Mary does too!

Despite what some judged about this game, I'd have to say it was honestly one of my favorite Silent Hill games. From the environment, to the puzzles and to the dark but interesting story. I truly hope Silent Hill can continue, one of the greatest survival horror franchises needs to live again!
This is dark and heavy hitting, sounds great. I️ wasn’t a big fan of SYOTOS & Untitled, but I️ like this experimental aspect of Korn Jon was pushing before they did Korn 3. It would be cool if for their next album they combine the heavy guitars of the serenity of suffering with this experimental, almost world music style, only this time with heads melodic input

Downpour is my favorite Silent Hill game by far, and I have played through to 100% several times. I have no idea why the people who did not like the game made such a big deal out of their dislike, but i know there are tons of fans of this game. I just wish there were more games like it. Whenever I hear this song it gets stuck in my brain for days after.

I 100% agree. Alone the song is not too bad, it is a bit too much like Disturbed or Linkin Park which are 5/10 bands to me, but yeah the vocals do not invoke atmosphere or horror at all. The first 40 seconds was not too bad at all.

Something weird about this song was how i knew it was korn and the singer Jonathan Davis singing but the weirdest thing was at the time i never knew what korn sounded like i just knew the name of the band ..maybe i had the band in my head and randomly assumed it was them and got it right but it always stuck me how i got it right almost as if i was destined to be a fan of korn O.o ..jk jk but for real i do love korn ..ive seem live and i have all their cds and this theme song made me love the game despite what people say about it !!

@@orlandofurioso7329 silent hill 1 had 4 endings, there was a really bad ending where harry was found dead in his car which means nothing in the game actually happened, in silent hill 3 harry is still alive which tells us which ending was the real one and also explains how the events of the game happened The cannon ending according to origins is the very worst ending...the ending where harry is dead, how can it be a prequel to silent hill 1 and 3 if it chose the very worst ending, the ending where nothing happened?

I just beat the game and it is not garbage like most reviewers say. Sure it's not Silent Hill 2 or 3 are, but as a stand alone title, it was a great game once you forgive the minor bugs here and there. Some of them made me laugh so hard, like the glitchy weepers in the garage.
Interestinbgly enough Jonathan Davis and by extension KoЯn have been associated with SH series for me personaly for a long time. I've played SH1 on emulator for the first time about 20 years ago. I was 14 back then, and I found the game so creepy with it's crazy sound design and repressive atmosphere that I had to play KoЯn songs on repeat just to get through the damn game. That game gave me legit nightmares of being stuck on like 10th basement floor of my then school in it's otherwordly shape. 😅
So I just got the game literally a few hours ago I just popped it in (no didn’t play it yet) but as soon as the trailer came on and The minute I heard the song in the background i was like “KORN”!?!? that is sooo freaking cool!!! This game looks pretty wild I can’t wait to get into it! But I’d like everyone else’s opinions about this game but please don’t be a spoil anything for me!😂😂
Such a great song, but they could have done so much better. This wasn't Korn making silent hill music, but rather it was more them writing a Korn song for silent hill. The former would have been so much better.
I don't want to take away anything from anyone who enjoys this song, but I sometimes come here to remind myself just how badly these guys did not understand the tone of Silent Hill. The further we got from the originals, the less coherent the whole thing got, and now we have a song saying things so explicitly that the game already communicated with actual subtlety. I don't think it's an inherently bad thing to talk about this stuff explicitly in music, by any means, but I don't think Silent Hill is the place for it. This stuff is already shown to us in the game, through the symbolism and the environmental storytelling. This is redundant and, in my opinion, very self-indulgent. It takes away from the subtlety and it hurt the experience for me to have this play at the end. It made me laugh, which I doubt was the intent. And I was someone who enjoyed the ending.

Christ, Downpour’s intro OST did not go with the slow, melancholic and creepy atmosphere that Silent Hill is suppose to have.
