    Hi quick question this sleepy disease thing has killed half my fish not happy some idiot added a fish as a surprise and now had to go through that and with the 1s that recovered when would it be safe to add new fish

    • @KoiWholesale
      @KoiWholesale  Год назад

      They first need to all be back on top condition and then it should be safe.

    I’ve got a new koi just “die” on me. 1 of 2, is there a chance of recovery if it’s sleeping sickness? Literally bought it 3 hours ago it still in bag in mixed water.

    • @KoiWholesale
      @KoiWholesale  Год назад +1

      That’s not sleeping sickness. Fish either went into shock or was in bad health before being packed.

    Hello good afternoon, I had this experience with 3 fish that arrived from Japan, I put them in quarantine but the temperature dropped a lot and they developed symptoms.
    They turned to the side, red fins , pink body, they then got fungus and parasites, it's been 2 months and I've had several treatments.
    Now I still have them in a separate tank they are noticeably better but I'm afraid to put them in the main lake, what do you think about that?

    Does sleeping sickness/virus only live in fish or can it linger and live in the pond system aswell?

    Hi i have a new koi that hides and lies on its side on the bottom of the pond, is this sleeping disease or something else, i understand this might be difficult to diagnose. it will swim off if prompted

    • @KoiWholesale
      @KoiWholesale  4 месяца назад

      Possibly not sleeping disease but something else viral (like it having flu) or severe stress. Have you checked it for parasites? If you have and there aren't any adding salt to the pond at around 0.4-0.5% for a couple of weeks might help.

      @@KoiWholesale Hey man!!
      So, i Hitted this Nasty thing.. & i could use some help with it.
      I already contacted a Koi Doctor & he gave me a Natural product called
      Anti-Mix from The koi Doctor Maarten Lammens.
      Should work effectively he says.
      Now, what i'm mainly wondering about isss..Some of my koi have been on & off on the ground for over a month or 2. Yea could deffinitly be due to the Weather (Living in Belgium & we had the roughest winter in 10 years+)
      But, none of the Koi that are affected have this PINK colouring you talk about.
      Which REALLY makes me doubt if it actually is the SLeepy dissease.
      Could you perhaps give me some more insight on this regarding your opinion.
      Kind Regards,
      Benjamin

    Ricky-- i'm on the back side of a current situation. Preliminary lab results is suggesting that my pond has CEV... Added fish from a trusted dealer to my pond (because they were larger and my QT was occupied -- yes I know), 4 days later entire pond (had not added anything in the past 4-5 years). Every symptom imaginable for every fish except the 3 new additions. I'm a "certified koi keeper" and "certified show water quality" person. Of course most of the information available is about juvenile fish... in your experience is it possible for mature fish to become infected by new additions? I'll know more when I get lab results back. I've only lost one but there are 3 additional ones that are still attempting to recover (all others appear back to normal). About a month in from the addition, scrapes and gill snips showed nothing to elicit this type of reaction. I think it may be time for hobbyists to become more aware of CEV?!?!

    • @KoiWholesale
      @KoiWholesale  Год назад

      Yes mature fish can if they haven’t already been exposed and have any immunity. Normally if older fish are exposed later in life it can hit them a lot harder.

    Experienced sleeping sickness with some home bred koi. Raised them in isolation till 1.5" long then connected their pond to main pond filter system. 48hrs later they are all lifeless and floating around on their sides in the water current. Isolated them again and salted, all recovered in around 2 weeks so that was 2 weeks growth completely lost, but what a learning curve.
