Just because its in the book doesn't mean it needs to be in the movie. This scene is cute buts its unnecessary. So is a lot of other stuff that was cut out from the book.
@@nikunjdixit1175 It made them more than just astronauts. They're people, and they're in as much risk as Watney. Another thing the movie left out (which I don't blame them cause it would've taken ages) was personal emails Watney sent to all of the crew. It really fleshed out their connections as friends rather than co-workers.
"How come Aquaman can control whales? They're mammals! Makes no sense." They literally had the scene but changed the line to Mark complaining about disco.
Book is better. Except for the ending where Lewis grabs Watney. Also I think they should have shown Watneys parents in Chicago reaction to his being rescued.
TallBob1962 The difference is he's not sleeping there. The crew quarters are deeper inside the ship or simply more reinforced because if something happens while they're asleep, they're still protected. Other parts of the ship aren't like that because if something happens while they're not in the room, they can repair it.
I see your point but the seals in the airlocks are weak points because they are moving part and are designed to open. The hull is static and so stronger. But then, windows so numerous and big on a spaceship is weird, specially since they show constant spinning landscape.
Omg I love this scene so much! I remember reading this in the book and was disappointed they didn't really address their relationship in the movie other than the kiss on the visor.
This scene would make more sense if they hadn’t designed the Hermes to be absolutely massive. Why can’t Martinez just sleep in the giant rec room they’re in right now?

Just because its in the book doesn't mean it needs to be in the movie. This scene is cute buts its unnecessary. So is a lot of other stuff that was cut out from the book.
@@nikunjdixit1175 It made them more than just astronauts. They're people, and they're in as much risk as Watney. Another thing the movie left out (which I don't blame them cause it would've taken ages) was personal emails Watney sent to all of the crew. It really fleshed out their connections as friends rather than co-workers.
like what? did beth and chris have some others moments, too?
"How come Aquaman can control whales? They're mammals! Makes no sense." They literally had the scene but changed the line to Mark complaining about disco.
Book is better. Except for the ending where Lewis grabs Watney. Also I think they should have shown Watneys parents in Chicago reaction to his being rescued.
Seb sis the breathy half-laugh half-giggle perfectly 👌
And the pulling the bill of his hat over his eyes
This explains the seemingly award scene in the airlock where she kisses him on the helmet...it always gave me the thought "are these two involved"....
"If one seal breaks you die", he says while leaning against a window the other side of which is open space. Doh!
But then, windows so numerous and big on a spaceship is weird, specially since they show constant spinning landscape.
if one seal breaks martinez dies.
Vogel tho....he is german.
You realize only the seals are in airlocks, because it's a moving part area.
These windows don't open, permanently sealed. Unlike Air Locks.
Omg I love this scene so much! I remember reading this in the book and was disappointed they didn't really address their relationship in the movie other than the kiss on the visor.
They should have kept it in the movie! It's hilarious and adds to the overall light mood of the picture.
Yet another reason why I love this movie. I hope this scene made it onto the DVD extras.
A COUPLE WORLD RECORDS IM SCREAMING
It's a small ship and you didn't know he was sleeping in the airlock, but you knew about the other two getting it on...
Wish this was in the movie, the scene is so light-hearted and good
Like in every damn movie, Sebastian Stan it's so cool, or very cute. This boy is very talented and no one can stop him.
This scene would make more sense if they hadn’t designed the Hermes to be absolutely massive. Why can’t Martinez just sleep in the giant rec room they’re in right now?
F***ing loved this movie, and an awesome scene that was derived from this one
fave deleted scene!!! omg Sebastian's adorable face at 0:40
NOW the last scene of the movie (with them having a baby) makes sense.
Sebastian Stan love him
It’s funny to see this without music or brown noise filling in the scene you can really tell who holds a presence on set
0:55, look at Alex Vogel's face. This is German attitude towards such Romance...
My brothers, if you had the opportunity to get yourself some Kate Mara in space...or anywhere else, would you be concerned about breaking any rules?
Well now I have to watch The Martian.
Love that the great scenes from the book were filmed.
Where is the deleted scene with the little green man that popped up behind a rock, im sure i saw it in the original. But it might also have been a dream.
Houston....can you run a simulation of two bodies orbiting each other in 3 axis please?
Michael Pena is hysterical
This scene should have stayed on the film, so hilarious and well performed.
I only just realize that the Hispanic guy in this was the same as the guy in ant man
“If this was a normal mission, you would’ve broken about 30 rules.”
“… and a couple world records *what’s UP buddy, what’s up!”*
High five Winter Soldier for getting it on with the Invisible Woman
Holy cow ... Kate Mara. Enough said.
can believe they deleted this 😢
The german guy in the middle: "What did I miss?"
I read the book years ago and I'm just finding out they shot this scene NOW? I feel cheated.
I guess she found the book with the red star on it. All she had to do was say the words:...."Longing...
Picture this, though: Hermes shows up, they come in and land, and everyone is shocked that Beth is pregnant. Oh, and she and Chris are married. Payback for NASA not telling them Mark was alive.
We set out with 6, came back with 5, went back for the 6th, and returned with 7!
Dean Su “Face it, as soon as that storm came up, we were never coming back with *exactly* six.”
If it's a small ship, why are they on a bridge of an Imperial Star Destroyer?
Johansson's arm movements create continuity problems. If the scene made it into the movie, I hope someone would have caught that mistake.
Cause no one would notice the smell of twat mist wafting around a sealed ship. Really seals the flavor in.
0:50 I can't with Martinez 😂😂😂😂
I love Michael Peña. He is hilarious.
There's sleeping with, and then there's just sleeping. Were the bunks designed to be big enough for two people to do the latter?
I watched the movie yesterday, this was a nicely timed coincedence
In space, nobody can hear you scream. Except, maybe the mission commander...
THat guy is that guy in every movie he is in. WHATS UP WHATS UP gettin down in space lmao
Why are all of the crew areas of the ship so ridiculously huge? The room in that scene is at least 10 times larger than it functionally needs to be.
I like the upbeat electronic music after the high fives. Truly it should have been kept in the movie.
They should have left that in...
