keep NY ers in ny, just gonna raise our taxes with comps going up. we have enough traffic as it is. I'M SURROUNDED BY HEDGE FUND OWNERS!!!
NJ needs to restructure their property taxes. Makes staying in NJ impossible
Montclair it's so pretty i lived there for 2 years, nice for walks, morning breakfast, lot of restaurants or events !!!
Thanks for watching and commenting! What is your favorite breakfast spot / restaurant in Montclair?
I grew up in Summit, NJ. It is an amazing town with great schools, a nice community pool, a great downtown, and even a municipal par-3 golf course that's great for a quick game or to learn golf. It's also only 45 minutes from Penn Station, NY. The downside is it's a stuffy atmosphere with all the serious money in Summit.
Thank you for sharing your experiences it really helps give people insight. Have a nice weekend!
Nice place
From 1968-1980 ? For my $ Basking Ridge Nj
Just bought a small house in Westfield. Multiple offers and I won. Can't wait.
Very excited for you!!
@@Jeff-Suburbs-of-NYC Thank you!
if ever planning an upgrade my mom's a realtor in town Brenda Putzer since 1984, we lived there from 80s to late 90s. i graduated in 89' whs played football too! Dave Brown was drafted to the Giants in 93' played on the team with me
They are all very nice, especially Lambertville and Princeton
Very nice towns. 😂
I used to live in Westfield for 4 years as a kid. I loved it soooo much That small town vibe is so reallll.
Glen Rock next to Ridgewood is similar, I lived there too. moved to GR. great schools top 6th in state. crime got bad in Westfield now, lots of burglary now
Graduated from Montclair state university then college. Nice place
Thanks for watching and commenting about your experience there!
Montclair is wonderful. Love exploring there.
I think that Flemington, Princeton, Lambertville, Stockton, and philipsburg
These all look like beautiful places on the Delaware River (most of them). For this video I was focusing on towns with less than a 60 min train commute into Penn Station that have well preserved historic downtowns. Thank you so much for watching and sharing, I think it really helps people get a feel for the area!
movie theater in Ridgewood is closing.
I have an idea of a few towns that could have been added.
congestion to the max
Man they aren’t telling you about The best place which is going to get a train station close by in Andover 2027 .. or allamuchy and Green township .. there’s a train close in Hackettstown real nice farms and will eventuslll be overrun with traffic when you move here
South Orange, West Orange, Maplewood, Millburn Short Hills and Summit are all next to each other. If you live in one of them you’ll find yourself all around the other towns quite often. You can drive from one end at South Orange to the other end at Summit like in 15 minutes
Thanks for watching! Any favorite hot spots you might suggest to people?
These are the nicest town to live in new jersey ❤ lived in new jersey for 12 years in Madison I miss the nature and the people very much ❤
@@tullulah5294 Amazing, where do you live now? Hopefully not too far so you can still visit!
What about Red Bank, Cranford, Millburn, Rumson, Princeton, or Tenafly
@@aformal2 All great places! Thanks for watching and commenting. I mainly picked these for their historic downtowns. If you had to pick one of your 6 places, which one would be your top pick?
Montclair New Jersey is the nicest in New Jersey. Personally I live there, it’s so nice.
Always good to have a first hand testimonial!
Somerville snubbed!
Watched
Too bad the property taxes in ALL of these towns are INSANE!
YES !
colts neck? princeton? im guessing you sell in these areas specifically? lol...
Yes that’s so grate a gallery?
Apologies, not sure I follow your question. Happy to help if you don't mind clarifying. Thanks for watching!
@@Jeff-Suburbs-of-NYC I have no words deep in my heart I barel speak English but I know how to spell and read I love going out I live in New Jersey USA yeah I know

I also live in Summit. The city would be even better if it had a university. I also would like a downtown supermarket but the Shoprite in Springfield isn't too far away. A big plus is fast highway access -- whether you go into the city (78 east) or west (24 west or 78 west) it's highly convenient. The train commute to Manhattan's Penn Station is about 45 minutes for the express trains. Summit has the Visual Arts Center. Overlook Hospital is close. Ditto, Short Hills Mall. There is an arboretum as well. Overall, New Jersey has a bunch of great towns that are close to Manhattan, and that have great schools and parks and restaurants and sport fields. I would add these towns to your list: Millburn, Berkeley Heights, New Providence, Chatham, Morristown, Livingston. Taxes are high but we get what we pay for -- great schools, great services.
Thank you for sharing your story! I have done videos of all of those towns as well. Great area to live in my opinion! Do you have a favorite place to eat in Summit?
@@Jeff-Suburbs-of-NYC there are a bunch of excellent options for dining in Summit. La Pastaria, The Office, Piattino, Fiorino, the Summit Greek Grill, Negeen Persian Grill, and Blossom Asian Bistro all have fine food and ambiance. If I had to choose one, I'd probably choose La Pastaria since it is somewhat closer to my house. But they're all great.
@@tom1600x1050 Great list of suggestions, thank you so much for sharing them! I haven't tried Negeen yet, it's on my list. Have you tried SQR Pizza? It's a roman style crust, nice and crunchy. Thanks again for commenting please let me know if you are ever in need of any real estate advice. Stay well!
Norwood nj?
Thanks for watching and commenting! I haven't been to Norwood. I am sure it is a great place. The towns I covered in this video were chosen mostly because of their historic downtown's and direct train stations to the city. If you don't need to commute to the city or have the ability to drive that can open up a lot of options to. Of course this is just a small selection, lots of great places out there. Do you like in Norwood?
What about kearny?
I chose the towns in this video because they have fast midtown direct trains into Penn Station. Kearny as a commute option is probably pretty good, but you would have to go over to Harrison and take the PATH or a bus.
Alpine, my present home?
Alpine has beautiful homes. Does it really offer what these towns that were mentioned do? Does it have a historic and beautiful downtown area? Does it have variety when it comes to restaurants and bars?
This should be retitled to NORTH JERSEY.
is there anywhere else???? lol
@@maestromuffin1 Ummm… yeah! How about Spring Lake… Pt. Pleasant… Princeton… A little love for Central Jersey !!
@@PapaWooodyAhh, yeah, but Monmouth County really should be considered central New Jersey. Anyone looking at a map would certainly agree.
Yepp, and Central NJ is much better.
How about Edison?
Also a great option, commutes around 50-60 mins to Penn Station
1) Anywhere that is not in New Jersey
2) NYC
3) Philly
4) LA
5) Chicago
6) A cardboard box in an alley (as long as that alley is not in New Jersey)
ALL the big cities you listed suck and most of the NJ politicians suck also starting with that liberal idiot Governor Murphy
@Sam-ef3bj can't run from idiots. Do yourself a favor; go hide from society. Society is better off.
Your title should be "best palces in NJ NEAR NYC." South Jersey has wonderful places to live, NOT close to NY (which is a plus).
Why move to NJ and why not westchester, less tolls !
!
"Very unique"? No such thing as very unique. Something is either unique or it's not 😆
The more you use the word “cute” the less appealing it gets.
Many black 😢
New Jersey please vote for a republican governor you almost had one. If so your state would be probably in the top 5 in the country
angry trump supporter
If jersey had a republican governor, gas prices would go down, even more petty women would flock there, roads would be smoother, taxes would be cheaper, businesses would be open later, less crime ect....
@@rad9541 Bullshit. Im from NJ. Rebublicans arent going to do shit. In fact they will prob be worse. The poorest state and the most racist states and the states with the least ecenomic equality are all republican states.
The legislature will still be dominated by Democrats. I live in NJ, close to NYC, and it's a landfill of democrat zombies who believe everything the media and rich tech billionaires tell them.
Republicans are incompetent
