One thing that might help you out, reuse your OEM radiator cap and put the nice Mishimoto one on the expansion tank. I was having trouble getting the rad to burp out properly and was was running about 10 degrees hotter than I am now. Reuse that OEM radiator cap and put the new one on the expansion tank. Temps came down instantly. This recomendation came directly from MIshmoto customer service on 7/24/17. Surprised its not in here, maybe the cap design has changed in the last 5 years.

I installed this radiator according to the instructions with a few friends and some beers. Worked like a charm! Making the radiator burp/bleeding the lines is essential to your success. My car now runs cooler and smoother. Many props to everyone at Mishimoto!
The inlet and outlet of this radiator is 1.5" in diameter. We recommend using worm gear clamps to get the best seal for radiator hoses. So I would recommend finding a clamp that has a range of 1.5" - 2". :)
in your site it says;
"The provided Mishimoto radiator cap should replace the stock cap located on the expansion tank. The stock cap attached to the radiator should be installed on the Mishimoto Performance Aluminum Radiator. The Mishimoto radiator cap is a two way valve, while the stock radiator cap is a single valve. Due to the difference in construction, the Mishimoto cap cannot be used on the radiator. If the Mishimoto cap is fit on the radiator, overheating may occur."

you know what the best part is when he fills the radiator with none subaru coolant!! iv noticed that pros like him know enough to not use subaru coolant but if you go on a forum and ask, everyone will tell you that your subaru will blow up if you use anything other then subaru coolant.
Gona be buying this rad today, OEM took a poop on me, damn plastic, I would just buy a OEM replacement but I dont want to worry about it cracking again, 400hp needs to stay cool, cheers! Great vid, sold me on the product

BTW: Subaru are very insistent that you use their coolant, (formulated by Castrol for Subaru) as it apparently protects the alloy and other metals better than standard anti-freeze etc. Of course their coolant is not cheap. They have the older dark green, and the new red super-coolant now (extended drain time). While not compatible together, you can run the super-coolant in the older WRX's apparently. (Source: Subaru parts dealer).

Just got one installing it tomorrow :) well today...
Relied on the video to do the install.. all eventually worked out fine. Standard drain plug was almost inaccessible.I did have to shorten the lower hose somewhat. Have to be very careful with the top hose, as there is little clearance between fan and pulley when shortening, ensure clearance all round. The standard spring steel hose clamps are best gotten rid of in all locations too.
We try to keep these videos concise. If you need instructions on how to properly fill and bleed your cooling system, let me know, and I will explain it to you. :)
i'm a mishimoto fan now...
He does say in the video to fill up the cooling system with a 50/50 mixture of coolant and water. He also fills up the cooling system from the proper spot, since that is the highest point of the system, which will allow the system to bleed properly. He also mentions turning the heat on high to cycle the coolant and bleed any additional air from the system. Is there something you believe he didn't cover?

Some of the Mishimoto kits I see online include fans (generally also come with silicon hoses), Are these a bit thinner than the stock fans? are there any major differences with these fans? I see people re-use the stock fans, but it's a bit more of a tight fit in there apparently with the thicker core.
Will this work on a 2.5i?
Using other types of coolant is fine, as long as you don't mix them. Just make sure to flush the system first. But the 08+ Subaru's should use Subaru specific coolant.

the radiator tounches the front pannel on top. is it ok?? or should I get two new radiator mounts for top so it's not touching ?

When bleeding the air out how long does it normally take for all the bubbles to leave the lines ? Cuz i just installed a mishimoto radiator on my 07 sti and bled it for about 2-3 minutes ... Is that long enough ?? Please help

Trying to install this radiator, ancillary hose set, and radiator hose set in a 2002 WRX. While removing the fill neck overflow nipple from the new radiator, the nipple broke, leaving half the threads stuck in the radiator. Couldn't extract the broken part with a bolt extraction kit. 99% complete with re-assembly. Do you have any suggestions?
Also, the Mishimoto radiator hoses are too long with the Mishimoto radiator. How much should be trimmed from each hose? Which end is best to trim?
i have the fan shroud and the aluminum radiator, its been awesome so far but for some reason now the fans will only shut off when i turn the car off they just constantly run while im driving, do you know what the problem might be or any ideas thanks!
Hello Mishimoto, This video is great and just in time. My old radiator cracked on top. I just got my mishi X-line and aluminum fan shroud today for my 2003 WRX! what a coincidence. Can you please tell me how I can hook up the 4 wires from my stock fan harness to the 2 wire Mishi fan shroud? Please help so I can drive fast again!

Please explain the radiator cap configuration to me.... I have a mishimoto radiator and a mishimoto expansion tank. Both came with 1.3 bar 2-way valves. I understand I am supposed to use the stock radiator cap on the radiator(1.1 bar), but that would leave a 1.3bar cap on the expansion tank. i thought the expansion tank should have a lower rated cap? am I wrong?

I got both a Mishimoto rad and upper reservoir replacement for my 07 STi, but they both come with the same caps. Should I not use the one that's on the rad because it is a two-way valve and reuse my OEM one?
Hello AWD C3K. You are correct. In this situation, you'd want the Mishimoto radiator cap on your vehicles expansion tank. You'd want the OEM radiator cap on your Mishimoto radiator.

When bleeding did you have both radiator caps off or only the top high coolant cap off and the one on the actual radiator is on?? I just did it with both caps on and my car is actually running a bit hotter than before
You should bleed your system with only the highest radiator cap removed. You probably have air in your system, which is why your temps are higher than before. Remove the top radiator cap when the car is cool, then warm it up with the heat on high, and add coolant as necessary. This should fix your issue. :)

Ok so i installed your all aluminum radiator on my 05 wrx sti and ever since my ancillary hoses have been busting and ive replaced them all but the the low pressure line that runs from the cap is bubbling as well as the lower radiator hose, ive burped the cooling system every time i replaced a hose and i cant figure out why i have to hose clamp the low pressure lines and why the low pressure hoses are bubbling, side note- i don't have have a coolant over flow tank and neither did the previous owners because it was in the way of the front mount intercooler but had never been a problem before the new radiator was installed, any ideas? ive been filling up the cooling system every 2 days due to this problem to prevent overheating

To Mishimoto,are you SURE you have to remove the splay tray on the bottom side of the engine bay? It wasn't mentioned in the other video I watched and I'm not sure why you'd have to remove it since the lower main rad hose is accessible without doing so. What exactly are the steps are parts to this that couldn't be done if the splay tray was still installed? I'm only asking cause its a pain to remove it. Thanks in advance.
JackstandJohnny you probably don't care anymore, but I think the main reason was so that they could drain it more easily. Also makes getting to the fan clips easier.

I bought the mishimoto X line radiator. Got everything installed expect this one bolt that looks like a plug and has a ring gasket on it. Where the hell do i put that?
Hello Phong Xiong. This plug was included for the 2002-2003 vehicles due to them not having an overflow port like the rest of the model years. It was essentially used to block it off.

I'm very confused with Subaru here. I don't have a rad cap on top of my stock radiator, if I want to get a different radiator, can I get one that does have a rad cap on top. Or would it not work

It will work. it just gives a direct access point to fill the radiator vs the overflow , or the turbo inlet. the cap is offset to the right , or driver side to not be in the way of the air intake duct. better in my opinion , but also one more place a potential leak can occur.

my buddie has same car as I do but I have many more performance mods than he, he choose this radiator and I choose the Ron Davis racing radiator, Mine remains 6 to 10 degrees cooler under all circumstances than his does, mine 406 ft pounds of torque at wheels, he 265 ft pounds of torque...speaks for itself...
How about genuine Subaru coolant?
You can use any coolant recommended by the manufacturer or our Mishimoto Liquid Chill coolant.
@3:52 left side fan is missing two parts. See how the right side is complete and the left side isn’t?
This is why the car was perfect for our install video, we killed two birds with one stone.

when it comes to radiators it doesn't matter about the thickness of your rad, just the surface area
but thickness adds surface area...
basically everything is going to go to hell. awesome! lol
