I have a phantom 3 pro, it’s sketchy. I was flying in 100kmh/60mph winter winds in Minnesota when it was around -18F. The cold and wind wasn’t the worst part, the worst part was I was in the bluffs of the Mississippi River between Wisconsin and Minnesota. Lots of bald eagles flying around, I was surveying a solar array for the utility contractor and eagles were trying to strike my drone. My drone was throwing battery fault and sensor fault alarms 10 minutes into the flight from the severe cold.
On times like these, I'm so glad there's a quickshot AI on the drone. I don't know how I'll be able to capture decent videos while trying to keep my drone afloat at the same time.
@@JG-oc9gc I don't plan to at the moment, mostly as I've already done a Mavic Air 2 vs Skydio one in the past (exactly a year ago), and from an Active Track/APAS standpoint, nothing changed there. At present though, I would say that APAS seemed better on the MA2 than the 2S.
I subbed your channel. Love the content. Nice video!!! But you should never turn the drone over to turn it off. Your are stressing the ESC's and can damage them over time. DJI built that safety precaution into the software for emergencies only. So clean and stable footage from the Air 2S! It's obviously too gusty as you're filming it but in the drone video it clearly doesn't show! Thanks for putting in the effort! and the protips

Another fantastic video... I got mine airborne today, I havent had a drone since the dji phantom vision so this to me is unbelievable... Really impressed with it I am, hopefully it will help with my channel.. 😎👍
Thanks for the video. I’m currently in the north cost of Spain and planning to shoot some videos there also in the windy conditions with my bird. Therefore it is good to know it’s limits before I fly it.

Incredible performance and stability for such a small unit!, video looks very smooth for these conditions. Thanks for this test and the footage of the day before is just Epic, good choice of music BTW
Thanks for a tremendously good an enjoyable testing, I love your devotion for taking it to edge of the envelope, I was watching the dive session in the DJI Air 2S Active Track against Skydio 2 - and that must have been a challenge, I must make my condolences... One thing I noted, though... I that in the cross-wind scenes (like in about 6:10 and onwards) we have some twiching like stepwards mowing on the gimbal when moving, not directly (or smoothly) compensating for the movement... What an horrible landscape, with industrial installment that looks like shit!
Dude, U are sick with that hardcore testing :) Thanks to u no one else has to do that. Wonder how many drones you have lost because of this actually :)
Surprisingly, zero drones ever in wind testing. I've only ever lost drones when drones software has failed, almost always in early or pre-production units.
Another awesome video. Thank you for these awesome tests. Probably the best tests I have ever seen. Especially active track. Thank so much. By the way the edits at the end of the video are stunning. 👍👍👍
Just minutes ago my mavic 2s was against straight head on wind and even in sport mode it was struggling soo much that sometimes it just stopped and most of the times it went 2m/s=4.5mph and drifted left by 0.5 m/s=1mph thankfully I got it home on 20% I didnt think the wind was that fast and drone itself didnt warn me about it I came so close to losing it.
DJI gear is expensive but darn their products are quality. Shame about all the regulations in different countries. In Canada you pretty much need a pilots license to own and fly drones, that’s not an exaggeration.
Mostly because people will mess it up and snip their fingers with the blades. So essentially, it's riskier. I've been doing it for probably a decade now, so it's sorta old hat to me, but certainly carries some risk (especially in windy conditions).
It's honestly a piece of crap. I mean, sure, it's seemingly accurate, but it's got a short in it, so every time I use it I have to use a new CR2032 coin cell battery.
@@jd2161 I was stupid! I flew pretty far out with the wind at my back. Dumb move! I got all of my shots of this little small island. But it was time to come back then I learned a hard lesson, I was going against the wind and didn’t have enough battery to get back. It was tragic watching the drone struggle in the wind to get back and watching the battery levels drop. It probably got 200 yards from me, then it went down the into the water. It was the ocean, I wasn't dressed properly to go get it. It was a terrible feeling walking back to the car just just the controller. It was lost. I think about it all the time. 😞😕

Not in the least bit excited for the 2S but way more excited to consider a DJI Pocket 3 with a 1 inch sensor since DJI tends to pair them together and leap frog them. In the order of Mavic Air/OSMO Pocket, Air 2/Pocket2. So lets hope for 2S/Pocket 3 to continue the tradition of sharing the same sensor. And with that Moaz screen competition, lets see if DJI will use that accessory port to include a flippy screen and a 1 inch sensor!!!!

I guess you must have got that drone for free huh why would you fly a thousand-dollar drone with salt water splashing on it saltwater destroys stainless steel and boats all over the world but you're flying a drone in it
Actually, yes, the wind is stronger at the coastline. And ironically, the beach area where the sand is, is a no-fly zone. Whereas the pier is a fly-zone.
Theirs no way I would fly a $1300 drone in those conditions. But I'm glad you do these tests cuz they are cool to see the drones limits!!

How come there are props in the shot for the air 2s but not for the air 2? Then angle that the drones tilt are the same, so why?
They do show up in the Air 2 as well in sport mode, though seemingly less often. Also might just be entirely luck with the exact angle.
