What a classy man. He just lost his son, and graces us with his presence. I saw Phantom in New York, and loved it. You sir, have made the world a better place. 💯🥰🎶
I agree. I even saw him stop to take time sign autographs at the stage door after the closing show.
To have just lost his son to cancer, and see the close of a Masterpiece musical, to ALW present on Jimmy Fallon is amazing. What an amazing man with musical genius.
What do you mean
LMAO ALW is not classy. He’s a right prick-Google how he handled the Cinderalla cast last year
@@alexhaynes7220 what?
The man who changed the musical world as we know it. Thank you Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Such a blessing to witness, enjoy, venerate legends while they are yet among us!
One of the best clips from Fallon. Reminiscent of old world talk shows, the golden era, when real talent graced the stage. And who would have thought Webber would give a master class in composition! A great clip.
100% agreed, nicely put. You could easily imagine the piano interview on a small B&W TV in your living room. I wish they did this kind of thing more often, not just once every few years.
Yes, that’s what I was thinking! So nice with this change of pace, it feels more intimate and “human”, for lack of a better term.
Am I the only one who would pay to see Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber playing all of his most famous tunes on a concert? That'd be out of this world!
He's not a "Sir" - he's "Lord" as the clip says!
I’d give all my money to see that!
@@DistantCousin He is a Sir - and a Lord. Both.
I would love to see him play in concert like you fabulous man and so talented and probably has more griping stories to tell . It is really sad about his son .
@@Mrpgtip I'm pretty sure you'd use the higher title though, so Lord is more correct here (I assume).
As a musician and composer myself, I will forever be in awe of this man. He is at a level I will never be able to achieve... but he forever will be an inspiration. Wonderful appearance on the Tonight Show... and Jimmy was so humbled and appreciative, just as I would have been. You can tell he just wanted to hug Andrew out of pure admiration and thanks.
" ' *I remain, gentlemen, your Obedient Servant*, O. G.' I can't bear it.* " His gentleness kills me sometimes😭😢♥
So happy I live in his era. I'd freak exactly like Jimmy on this. Sitting next to the master himself listening to the music of the master himself. What an honor 🥰
You can tell that Jimmy is a real fan. He’s absolutely star struck. What an incredible segment. 🎉
This is amazing! There will never be another talent like Lord Weber!!
Phantom has always been my favorite broadway show ever! I was 13 in 2003 when I saw my very first broadway show. One year later in 2004, I watched the movie and I absolutely loved it ❤ Andrew Lloyd Weber is truly creative with his works!
Phantom has been my favorite show since I was 4. As a New Yorker it was one of my favorite things to do. I miss it so much already. Please bring it back some day, I could care less if it’s the original production.
Wait will it not be played anywhere anymore? Like ever?!
@@Ghostlove92Katjust not on Broadway. It’s still in London which is it’s home. Also for the first time it’s in Italy with the Phantom from the 25fh Anniversary star Ramin Karimloo as the Phantom!!! I believe it will open in Milan next month.
ALW is a musical genius. He also seems like a kind, genuine soul. The Phantom of the Opera is forever imbedded in my soul. It changed the way I hear music. There’s a story, an emotion, that each note and each melody is trying to tell…and I can feel that now thanks to Sir ALW’s music. My toddler even loves it, which is surprising. The first time he heard those opening chords (8:15) from the 25th Anniversary at Royal Albert Hall film, he was immediately enthralled. He stopped everything he was doing and sat through the entire performance and then was lulled to sleep while Music of the Night played. It was the cutest thing. For a while Music of the Night was the only way to get him to take a nap, but now he just sings along haha. I hope to some day see Phantom live in person…maybe even with my son if he’s old enough by the time it (hopefully) comes back.
Watching Jimmy lose it sitting at the piano with Lord Lloyd Webber fills me with such joy. I wouldn’t be able to hold it together.
Thank you Lord Lloyd Webber for all the great musical creations.
I'll never forget the first time i watched Phantom, it was so wonderful and magical, and the songs will always be in my heart!!
👏👏👏
I’m literally smiling during this whole interview. Such a Beautiful talent ❤️👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
This is one of those interviews in a TV host's life that will live forever. The great Maestro Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jimmy Fallon. What more could you want! 🙌
A legend, brilliant yet humble. Imagine the contribution Andrew Lloyd Webber has given to the world and to musical theatre. This was such a treat! Lucky Jimmy!
I just love Andrew Lloyd Webber, he is a total phenomenon and legend. I saw Phantom of the Opera a few years ago in London and think it is one of the best musicals I have ever seen. Andrew Lloyd Webber is like the Mozart of the 21st-century. What an incredible, talent and genius.
Watching and listening to Lord Webber play his music, gave me the chills!
Lord Lloyd-Webber!
Not even a big musical guy but this dude has certainly placed some of his tunes in my head over the decades.
Big time legend
I think the man is a phenomenal force of nature when it comes to musical theatre, especially because of his melodies and his endless work to push the discipline forward into the light.
I could sob with happiness. He is a gift. His music is amazing and very emotional. The soundtrack of my life. Thank you!
he’s my hero. the man who opened my love for musicals and literally changed my life perception
I saw Phantom on a band trip in 2003 and fell head over heels in love with musical theatre. My best friend bought the cast recording album and we took turns with the two discs throughout the rest of our trip. I went on to join the drama club (and became president of it my senior year), did some community theatre in my early years, all of it. Then I became a mom and my own kid got into theatre (she's 10 and has been doing theatre for 5 years now) and last year we went to NYC for Spring Break. I got to take her to see Phantom, 20 years after I first saw it, and I got whiplash from wanting to watch the show but also wanting to see her reaction to the big moments. It was absolutely magical and out of all 4 shows we saw that week, Phantom was her favorite. We found out not too long after that it was going to close and I cried thinking about how grateful I was that not only did I get one last chance to see it again, but I got to share the experience that made me who I am with my own child. It will forever hold such a huge piece of my heart!
Bitter Sweet ❤❤ I could sit with him and listen to all his stories, what a storyteller magnificent man ❤❤❤ God Bless Him, talent like this comes in 100 years!!
I never had the opportunity to go to New York 🗽 and see one Beautiful theatrical play…people take so much for granted.
Just listening to him play a few notes from Memory was enough to bring me to tears. Stage shows will open and close many times over but his unparalleled music will touch listeners for generations to come.
I remember running into Lord Andrew in front of the Winter Garden Theatre a week prior to the opening of School of Rock. He was of course extremely focused and I didn't bother him, but it was so surreal to be walking down Broadway and to actually cross paths with the living god of musical theatre. He's not someone you even think of as mortal, all 5'10 of him (in boots), thin with a paunch, is the most intensely unique looking person I've encountered. He is unmistakeable for anyone else.
Feel so lucky to have seen Phantom in the early years. Music is phenomenal is an understatement
Having watched Phantom shortly after it debuted in London but here in Canada, will always stay with me as THE best theatrical performance I had the pleasure of watching. Since I first saw it I’ve managed to see it 3 more times. However, none of them were as impactful as the first one I saw. I don’t know what it was, but the cast, the direction, the orchestra, everything just meshed! 👏🏻🙂
Thanks Andy for bringing some of the most impactful performances the world has ever seen. 👍🏻
I got to see it in Canada years ago with Colm Wilkinson. He was amazing!
Colm Wilkinson and Rebecca Caine...they were incredible
@@kallen868according to the original program I’ve kept, I first saw it in 94. Just days before turning 16. Peter Karrie and Glenda Balkan played the lead roles. 👏🏻🙂
He is a treasure. Jimmy's giddyness is priceless, he realizes he is interviewing a national treasure❤
Your musicals are the only experiences I have of Broadway and it has changed my life forever for a love of it. I will never forget Phantom of the Opera and Jesus Christ Superstar. ❤❤❤❤
Or Starlight Express, did you see that on broadway as well or on US Tour??
I grew up listening to the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack, learning how to play it on the piano, and seeing the show half a dozen times. This mans music has been such a big part of my life. 🥰
Andrew Lloyd webber is an amazing force we are so much better because of his work.
Don't cry for me, Argentina!
Wow... legend, this guy is.
Bravo Jimmy! Even a brief moment with this man of music is worth it. Now let’s get an entire show that encompasses his career so far. ❤❤ “You can call me Andrew”
Jimmy sitting next to Andrew and loosing his mind is exactly how I would be in his shoes
Jimmy ALWAYS ‘loses his mind’ when extremely famous celebrities are on his show!!!
@@shejean no, he's never done this before. He was clearly the most star struck I've ever seen him. He didn't even know what he was allowed to call him 😂
Sir Andrew! I have many good memories associated with so many of your musicals. Phantom being the one that started it all so this feels better sweet.
What a legend. Thank you for having him, his music inspired me to become a musician.
Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber is a musical genius. It was great to watch him at work on the Tonight Show!
Lord ALW is a living British legend, hands down. As a Hungarian musical actor, he was for us the of Lord of modern musicals even 25 years ago then. There are thousands of professionals who owe their careers to him... Salute the Legend with gratefulness!
I saw the original Phantom in London with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman. You can't beat that team.
Sooo jealous!
🙏🏾Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber I know it was a great show because you are one of the greatest 👍🏾👏🏾😁💕💪🏾.
I took the most beautiful girl in high-school to phantom, opening night in Toronto. The show was AWSOME! changed my life. New emotions I'd never felt. Too bad I was such a nerd to try and get some. Long time ago but the pain of how much I blew it with that girl.. an operetta just like my life. The tragedy, the loneliness, the passion.
so excited that he's written a piece for Charles' Coronation. i'm so looking forward to hearing it.
"Only you, lonely you" is such a beautiful piece. I got teary eyed just listening to him play it on the piano.
Love this! Much respect to Lord Andrew!! Love playing his music on the piano.
Cats excellent on stage seen it 3 times and would pay to see it again but then I have always loved the theatre, I have never been fortunate enough to see phantom but it is one of my dream things to see. A.L.W is a legend.
Saw phantom 11 times and loved every single time.
Phantom of the Opera will always be one of my faves, but no one plays the phantom like Michael Crawford. He’s my fave
This man is so talented. Think: The same person who wrote all of the dark, classical songs to Phantom also wrote all of the upbeat, comedy, rock songs to The School of Rock Broadway musical.
I know it by heart. My favourite musical. I dreamt to go to New York one day and see The Phantom. No chance now.
Andrew god bless you. And THANK YOU for bringing us all your fantastic work. I was privileged enough too see Cats, Phantom, and Les Misérables back in the 80's and 90's. But Phantom will ALWAYS stay in my heart as i saw Brightman and Crawford in one of their early performances in NY. It was sensational too say the least. I will miss it very much when it concludes. I suppose everything must come to an end sooner or later. But too me it will always be THE BEST musical of all time. And i'd be willing to wager few would refute that.
Andrew please do another Phantom of the Opera movie! It was my favorite of all. By the way your music takes my breath away and leaves me in tears of joy.❣
Mean "love never dies"?!
I was able to see Phantom of the Opera on Broadway in NYC several years ago. It was AMAZING !
Fantastic! WOW! I am so glad I was able to see this
He's such a gentleman, classy.... And a god of artistic creation. God bless him!
Wow! The Maestro. Thank you Tonight Show for inviting this titan of the theatre. ALW’s joy and enthusiasm are infectious. I am gobsmacked.
honestly Jimmy's emotion represents me 100%
Phantom of the opera is coming back on Broadway. Andrew Lloyd Webber is going to make it happen.
Omg I knew it! Phantom isn't over yet!!! ❤❤❤❤
Phantom was the first show I saw in Broadway. It was amazing and made me fell in love with theater. Thank you Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber for the masterpiece 🙏❤
A legend.
Thank you. I'm so sad it closed before I got to mark it off my bucket list. Hugs and blessings
Thank you, so much Mr. Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber for being a wonderful Demonstration of love and Fantasy cecreating magical musicals that make everyone happy and full our hearts with love and magical memories that live forever and ever. your a are magical musical genius of love and imagination Love Always, Julia!!
😃😍🔥💜💜💜💜
Brilliant - hearing him be so excited about what he does is infectious.
Amazing! Simply the best ❤
UN GENIO TOTAL !!!! Maestro Andrew LLoyd Webber, un millón de gracias por haber compuesto música tan hermosa. Gracias MAESTRO !!!!
My mom had the pleasure of seeing POTO with her students at the Ahmanson Theater in LA. They loved it! It was in the 90s. I don’t know who the cast was so I have to ask her. It is by far my favorite musical. Every word I know.
Longest running broadway musical ever! That’s quite a record! My mom has the original cast recording on a CD. I’ve listened to it over and over again!
Andrew is a musical genius! His Melodies will live on!
Love the note from the opera ghost. Fallon lightened it up after that because he saw how emotional Andrew was. It was very close to his heart. I never saw it on Broadway but maybe it will get revived in the future! Anything is possible!
Phantom will always be around!! ❤️❤️ Thank you Andrew for going through with it when everyone told him it was going to be a flop. You believed in your music and your heart and the world felt it!
One of the most talented people in the world in any field
This so awsome, I grew up watching and listening Jesus Christ Superstar and I fell in love with all his musicals. He si sooooooooo talented, God bless him
I loved him reading the letter I sign everything O.G
My husband took me to see the phantom of the opera and we love it and we can't stop to play the music
Respect to you, Lord Lloyd Webber.
I would love to listen to Andrew Lloyd making music at home! Such a beautiful person with a beautiful creative mind! ❤❤
Not me crying when he started playing piano… ❤ also what a funny joke about the Cats movie
This is the most starstuck I’ve seen Jimmy
I just cried through 75% of that interview
Just made my day!! Thank you so much 🎶❤️🎶
I love that even Andrew Lloyd Webber doesn't like the Cats movie. 😂
Because it ruined an incredible work of his. When he started the first few notes from “Memory” I teared up instantly. I’ve seen the show twice and it’s incredible. The movie tarnished it and his incredible contribution to Broadway through this show.
Yeah because it was awful 🤣
So much talent!!! Crazy.
Um gênio. Não nascerá outro igual a Andrew Lloyd Webber!
Love Andrew Lloyd Webber. Love this.
What a wonderfully gifted man
Who else could listen to his piano playing for hours on end
I saw Phantom in previews in London. I was in the very top row of the theater, when the elephant came on stage I knew I was experiencing something special.
I saw the phantom a total of 5 times 3 in New York and 2 times in Chicago
Dear friend of mine played Carlotta in Chicago at the Auditorium Theatre.
Congrats sir Andrew loyd Webber
So talented! He's created a forever legacy to art.
Andrew Lloyd Webber - there is noone else in showbusiness who has done so much. Amen.
Love him
I love seeing Jimmy absolutely geek out at being with this legend!
🤩
What a wonderful candid view of the masterful musical maker.
Having seen Phantom on the West End and Broadway I am sad it’s closed over there.
All the teasing makes me think Phantom has already secured a new Theatre on Broadway.
Knowing him I think that’s a safe bet.
It has not secured a new theater but the Majestic will undergo repairs and Phantom will likely come back in a slightly smaller more abridged version. It will be considered a revival at that point.
Jimmy coming home, to his wife; I had a good day at work.
Jimmy Fallon is so silly. I never watch him BUT, for Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, I'll make an exception. Thank you.
Andy L went straight for the throat on Cats!
Such a genius. ❤️❤️❤️
I can’t love this enough. Thank you Lord Lloyd Webber for your talents.
Incredible that Andrew Lloyd Webber is 87! It seems like only yesterday when he was young and just starting to make great musicals! Hopefully he will transfer the videotape of the original production of Phantom (which only the actors and actresses in the show and possibly the show's production crew are permitted to view) to DVD and make it available to the public to purchase so that future generations of Phantom fans can enjoy it!
He's 75!🤷
@@Nensi014 Thanks for the correction about Andrew Lloyd Webber's age. I misread his age in an online article about him.
I love him. His humor, his joy and his overall joy.
