    Thanks man this was very helpful, the tutorial just kinda leaves wandering around a space station with no further instruction

    great tutorial. definitely helped when doing their tutorial. One thing I messed up on was deleting the yoke after I linked it. it isn't immediately obvious that it also linked to a block on bottom of the ship called an event block. when I replaced the yoke it didn't link to the bottom automatically. You will have to fly the ship up and manually link the yoke to it. Without that link the repair beam wont work.

      Yeah, the ability to remove the blocks should really be disabled for the tutorial ship.
      Thanks for sharing that!

    Great Video!
    If possible, can you upload a tutorial on how to use the docking block?
    I can't find much information through most videos.

    How long does it take to build a first working starship with the slowest progress settings (lowest miningspeed or something to toggle very low)?

    • @IndrasilDesignStudio
      @IndrasilDesignStudio  3 года назад +2

      There's no mining mechanics (yet), so you can build your first functional spaceship in a matter of seconds.

      @@IndrasilDesignStudio yeah but that is for turreted weapons, not static weapons, I am trying to build my first small size ship (no larger than about the size of a small antonov cargo plane) with some basic forward mounted cannons

    • @IndrasilDesignStudio

      The most simple solution is to make a following link:
      Yoke -> Event Gate -> gun
      I agree, I myself do have problems dealing with the Event Gate's UI but through trial and error you can figure it out.
      I have mine set to:
      Event registered: [Signal] Is Fire Primary Pressed
      That lets you shoot the gun as long as the left mouse button is pressed.

    Yeah... It's because of this State of the game and the game's wierd block placement itself.
    Is why I refunded my copy of the game.. It was so damn frustrating.
    And I aced the tutorial easily. But trying to build my own ship...
    Was an absolute nightmare of wonky player camera, annoying block placements, User interface. ect.
    Not to even mention HOW DUMB the in-game interface worked too.
    I WANT to love this game! It's so amazing, but yet in the same time. It's so unrefined too.

    • @IndrasilDesignStudio
      @IndrasilDesignStudio  2 года назад

      Aight, let's do a bullet point list:
      - Wdym the camera's wonky? In my experience there's some sliding when walking around but this can be remedied by flying around with a clip-mode on.
      - Block placement is different than in other building games cos there's only one axis of rotation but this can be bypassed by placing down scaffolding. I agree, not ideal, but to me, the building options far outweigh this little annoyance.
      - The user interface is indeed unintuitive and takes some experimentation to see what does what.
      If you have any questions about how the game works, maybe I can be of some help?

    That ship control method is my largest gripe with the game. I absolutely detest it, abhor it, loath it and need it to have an option for using locked mouse control instead of tethered. Again, I detest tethered flight controls, because it causes me an actual headache. I've tried the game for a few hours and this is always the reason for my uninstalling it. As much as I want, I never recommend Skywan... StarshipEVO to my friends, specially all of my Space Engineer buddies, because I know they will hate this method of flight control and will end asking for refunds. I want this game to succeed though, which is why I hope the dev will add an alternative to this reviled tethered mouse control method soon.

    • @IndrasilDesignStudio
      @IndrasilDesignStudio  2 года назад

      On the other hand, I hate the control scheme in Space Engineers bacause it makes me move the mouse over and over again if I have a clumsy ship and need to make a sharp turn. Yet, I play the game despite it because I think it's just a matter of tolerating things that I don't like for the sake of things that I do like.

    • @stratometal

      @@IndrasilDesignStudio On large clumsy ships I use the arrow keys if I need, though my mouse dpi is high enough its not an issue, and more gyros also help. I mean, gyro armor is a thing. In No Man Sky and Warthunder they have the option to switch from tethered to locked, which is the best solution to this.

    • @IndrasilDesignStudio

      Honestly, I had no idea these games provide that! Although I would still treat it as a bonus feature rather than a standard practice. Most of the games I've played either have an AoA (angle of attack) scheme like Star Citizen, Elite: Dangerous, and Starship Evo; a locked scheme like Space Engineers; or, a homing scheme like Avorion; and there's no way to change it in these games. You can only adapt or leave, frankly. Hell, even SE doesn't offer any other control schemes despite having a larger playerbase than all the other space voxel building games combined!

    • @stratometal
      @stratometal 2 года назад +1

      @@IndrasilDesignStudio Star Citizen also lets you choose, actually it lets you switch on the fly, but that's mostly to do with the 3 flight mechanics they have. It should be a feature on all the games, including SE, for those who prefer the follow the pointer option. Telling people to leave is just wrong, seeing as I already paid for the game and was a patron for a while. But you do have a point, adapt. I don't remember if StarshipEvo lets you fly using the kb arrows. Can you imagine if we still had the old games scheme of using arrows instead of wasd/esdf?

    • @IndrasilDesignStudio
      @IndrasilDesignStudio  2 года назад

      True, saying that someone should leave disappointed was insensitive of me.
      I had no idea that SC has 3 control schemes, interesting! I've double-checked and you can actually set the arrow keys to pitch/yaw/roll your ship! But an SE-like control scheme is still not there.
      We can only make suggestions on the game's GitHub. The more Tsuna sees a given feature being requested, the more likely he will implement it.
