This song is basically written from the perspective of someone suffering a brain aneurysm and dying. The video is the guy going through the afterlife and seeing all the stages of his life ending. Him tearing the red glowing thing is starting the aneurysm, the clocks represent his time running out, the clockwork gears are basically his body mechanically "ticking" away as it pumps his blood out of his veins, the string being cut is his life being cut short. He's taken and brought before his creator and like many men, he rages and curses at this god for ending his life, right up until this being gazes upon him in judgement and he feels afraid. He is then collected and changed, permanently joining this entity in the afterlife, like the other creature he turned into was before him.
The God entity at the end is the one depicted on the cover of the album this song is on, the album being called obZen (combination of the words "Obscene" and "Zen"). It's upper half is the body of a male model, while the lower half is a female. It's sits in the lotus meditation pose, but it's three hands make a specific gesture that contrasts this. The gesture when looked at looks like a 6 and the three hands thus make it 666, a reference to man's inherently evil nature. It's also covered in blood, another reference to the evil of man, in that we find a sense of peace in the darker things.

There's a journey to be taken that I think we all went through on a longer time scale, starting with stuff like Black Sabbath to Iron Maiden then Metallica and over decades getting to Meshuggah as the genre evolved naturally. You guys are getting the compressed version of this journey and it can be a lot to take in, so I'm glad the community has guided you into it more optimally.

Yea the live drum cam video is a must see, if I remember correctly though, they mapped the song on a drum generator, the guitarists learned it and recorded the track and Thomas Haake took like two months to learn it.

ARE YOU FUCKING READY!!! EDIT: Definitely worth checking the live Drum Track, wait til you see it. Also, y'all really need to check out White Zombie - Electric Head pt. 1 (The Agony) or almost any other track White Zombie really (More Human is overplayed).

When they toured with tool, Thomas haake came out and played a drum solo with Danny carey it was spectacular! Danny used to have little “drum offs” with their opening band drummers. Fuck I miss live shows

Spot on! 'Now we can appriciate the art and what goes into it'. I myself have never had Meshuggah as one of my favourites...but I have always respected them for their music and stone cold commitment to playing something difficult and different.

Tomas haake is the drummers name. He's the death metal Danny Carey. There's also a lot of live videos of this song. Some are pro shot. Check em out. They open for tool on one of the legs of the lateralus tour. Adam Jones took a lot of inspiration from this band when tool were writing 10000 days. The rumor is that it took them a year to write and record bleed. They had the idea but they had to build up their skill level over the course of a year just to be able to do it.
