Use a Tripod

- A spontaneous video where I filmed some flax. I briefly discuss the importance of using a tripod. Unfortunately, since I was using a 200mm lens, the wind created a lot of shake in my video. So I rectified it using DaVinci Resolve software, and did some color editing in Camtasia.

You crack me up so much! 🤣 That’s a huge difference before & after Davinci. I like seeing flax and/or tall grass being blown in the wind. Beautiful prairie you have there!
Thank you! I have plans of filming some fields blown in the wind. I love the sight of a wheat field in the wind. It moves almost like water...
Spectacular FIX!!
Thank you!
Wow! What a wind! Davinci did a great job!
It's a North Dakota thing. And, yes, I'm very impressed with Davinci!
Flax is beautiful, don’t believe I have ever seen it -or more than likely saw it and didn’t know what I was looking at. Don‘t think we grow it in Indiana. Nice to see you last night in Hemingway Jones chat. I missed 90% of it live and had to watch it after it posted. Frontier showed up at 7:15 to bury our new fiber line and had us off and on line several times over 90 min. Certainly won’t make a diff in phone service, once in the house it gets converted to the 30 year old copper the house is wired for phone. True the router is hooked to the fiber, but I don’t see any diff from our old DSL -we don’t require much headroom or band width. Supposed to be no additional charge, so we decided to humor Frontier and take them up on the offer. Have a good Bowman 4th of July.
You're right. Flax is mostly grown in the states around North Dakota, and not as far south as Indiana.
Yes, I keep missing his livestreams, so I was glad I caught that one.
Fiber came here many years ago, and definitely improved the service.
I love Da Vinci. I am really stil learning to use it but its an awesome programme. And where I am based in SA, we have WIND, so i get the struggle. Same isues here. Seeya in your next video.
I've barely scratched the surface of it, but I'm very impressed.
Impressive difference in picture quality between before and after using DaVinci. If you have the type of microphone that clips to the top of the video camera you might improve audio with a fluffy windshield.
I did try one of those microphones with this, but it didn't work well with the camera: lots of hiss to remove.
Flax in the wind, can you get more Americana than that! Interested in that farmhouse, is it on a road? Kudos on the stability software.
Yes, it's almost straight south of Scranton, ND.
I wonder if one of those Gorilla Pods would fair any better? How heavy duty is your tripod? Would shortening the legs help any? That’s a great demo of the software.
I had the tripod as low as possible and tried to partially use the car and my body as wind breaks. But this tripod is a cheap one I haul in the trunk of my car.
You could also try blocking the wind with a piece of cardboard or something else large and flat.
I tried using a Toyota Camry and a large, middle-aged male body. Perhaps a cardboard cage would do better?
🤣
Using s tripod works for still photos as well
Good point! Though I usually only do that for planned pictures.
