I enjoyed your garden update. Beautiful flowers and healthy vegetables; the leaves of my plants, especially basil, get eaten up by pests. It looks like you have no such problems, except for the occasional rabbit or mole. I'm looking forward to the next update.
I'm pretty lucky for pests, except flea beetles and certain mammals. I've broken the insects by not growing the crops they eat. Still working on rabbits and deer!
As always Lea and I enjoyed this tour. The garden looks great and you look like you are having fun. Thanks for doing the garden tours. And.... a small request, if you do another update/tour this season how about a couple close up of the balloon flower blooms, both fully open and the “balloon stage if you can manage it. I bought one on a whim a few years ago really cool., thinking about planting a row of them across entrance area of our house next year if I can find some in a garden store, except for yours the one I had is the only one I have seen.
I made a short on my balloon flower. It is almost at the end of its season. It may do better in your wetter climate and superior soil. Hopefully it helps. But I do enjoy mine.
Plant more hollyhocks near the house! They are so pretty! And more balloon plants- maybe in the whiskey barrels. Can’t believe your temperature-we’re high 90’s in Houston-yuuuuck!
Hollyhocks are nice! I need to spread the seeds. Good thought on the balloon plants. Yes, we're remarkably cool right now. I actually woke up last night because I was too cold!
My lawn mower can be set for use as a mulcher which works pretty well. Apparently there is a lot of nitrogen in lawn cuttings. I had to put chicken wire around my veggie patch to keep snails out.
I leave all my grass clippings on the lawn. Did get a nice donation from a neighbor, though! I did not know chicken wire kept snails out. Fortunately for me, it's too dry here for snails.
