You might consider installing a post next to the spigot. When you are gone the cattle will come around and very likely damage the plumbing sticking out.
you are right, the cattle can do quite a bit of damage, pushed the side of my travel trailer in and turned my porch/steps into firewood. I hope she sees your comment.
Better to build an insulated shed around it for storage. 1 or several 400w solar panels on top and a solar water heater box. But honestly? Lay a concrete slab down, slide the tank on it then build around it. Nice, clean storage and working solar system, large battery bank for the rig to plug into or for your future small house! Think into the future! And where are you going to drill the well or how close to the tank will it be or are you going to haul water in? That'll get expensive uness you are going to buy a flatbed 6 wheeler with a tank that you can put on when needed and use it as to haul materials on for all of you. Hi Ausia! Love this experience with your new property! Reminds me of when my dad and his brothers homesteaded 165 acres of desert property in Palmdale, California. This was in the 40's - yes, 1940's! Most of the family were into city life, but when there was any mention of going out to the Ranch House, everyone was all for going! There was an old house on the property and dad was handy at almost anything, so took care of most of the upkeep. I grew up loving the desert! You are going to love having this property!! Have fun with all your projects!
@Bird Song I've never been to the desert on purpose, so I don't know what to expect climate wise. But I did notice that in all that was shown, I didn't see any plants or terrain that would make me think there had been a movement of water as in a flash flood.

I dont understand the sideways faucet either, with the dust/wind, you will have to rinse it out every time. The opening should be pointing down. Sideways just seems strange.
@@whoknowes1 Because the hose bibb is pointing down, and there isn't much clearance from the ground, a hose will kink at that point. It won't kink if the hose is connected from the side.
whoknowes1 it’s so the filling hoses can be attached without any problems, sharp turns. Even if pointed down it could have dirt get into it. It’s a gravity dispenser(?) so it needs to be close to the ground so there isn’t standing water(?). That’s why a sidewalk block would be a good idea, so when the tap is opened that flush of water doesn’t backsplash into the tap. This is my thinking anyways.
