Supporting Fear over People is NOT a Value

In the first three months of 2022, state lawmakers have proposed a record 238 anti-LGBTQ+ bills. That's almost six times as many as in all of 2018.
There are proposed school library ban on books about sexual or gender identity to legislation prohibiting teachers from publicly discussing or teaching LGBT issues or lifestyles.
Much of the legislation aims at Transgender young adults, creating an epidemic of transgender suicides and mental health issues.
The legislative actions and bullying send a message that fear is more valued than the safety and well-being of LGBTQ+ kids. It tells them that they are not welcome, that they are not loved, and that they are not worth protecting.
Fear has never been and will never be a positive force in the world. This is NOT something that we should promote in our society. We must stand up against these actions and make it clear that fear is not something we hold dear. Only then can we begin to create a safe and welcoming world for everyone.
