I'll conclude with a bit of mindful quiet time. I hope you'll join me on the journey and thanks so much for watching!

I grew up in a productive environment. My maternal grandmother, who would have been 104 this year, was always making something - sewing, quilting, crocheting, figuring out projects for my woodworking grandpa to make, etc. My mother, who is an artist, was always sewing for us (I never wore a store-bought dress until the 3rd grade), cross stitching, quilting, and painting. I didn't inherit my mom's artistic ability, but I did absorb the craftiness of both of them.
Cross stitch is my outlet, my way of producing things that inspire me, that make me happy to see. Work and family got in the way of it for a long time but last year, after recovering from breast cancer, I felt a strong need to be creative again. Great vlog!

My mother sewed my clothes for my younger yrs, she also knitted. She had no other hobbies and was sure i would go blind doing x stitch and that was mostly 14 16 ct then! Oh what a beautiful store! Where I live we have nothing for embellishments except micheals so oh you are so fortunate! Sigh oh the wooden table and the lamp! Thanks for the reading at the end and also the jug is beautiful beside it. See you next time.

Growing up, my mother did all things crafty: sewing, knitting, macrame, painting. And my grandmother was always sewing, painting her house, growing beautiful flowers, and she could wallpaper like no other! I feel very inspired growing up with them and in my life I've been a professional photographer, and now I keep bees, I'm growing a garden, learning to sew and crochet, and love cross stitching! I have one other RUclipsr that you should check out: The Last Homely House. I don't sew quilts but she is wonderful and located in the north of England.

I am in my 70th year and count my blessings daily that I had my mom, Grandmothers, aunts, and a Godmother that all created with their hands, read, painted, gardened, cooked, baked, knit, sewed, quilted; always encouraging me to try it all. I did and then some !
Inspiration was an excellent theme. Thank you for the journey and the shop tour; it is a lovely shop 🙂🌷

Thanks for watching and for your comments. I’d like to clarify though, that meditation and mindfulness can be practiced by anyone and you’re welcome to focus on Jesus during the quiet time if I include it in a video. I know some Catholic nuns who regularly practice meditation. I often recite the Lords Prayer when I’m sitting quietly. It’s wonderful that we can choose the experience that works best for each of us. 🙏🏻

It's been a real pleasure spending time with you, Jackie. I'm so enjoying your flosstubes. Thank you for the store tour. What an incredible place. I checked out their website and was surprised to see several colour conversions of Maggie Lane's needlepoint dragon pattern. I started it years ago in cocoa tones and never finished it. So now I know of a store that carries yarns for it for if/when I get back to it. I may, as Maggie Lane had some wonderful patterns in her books and I wouldn't mind doing more. So that was a treat, and a real surprise. Take care, and happy stitching.

I consider myself fortunate to have grown up in a large family where money was tight and the old ways of doing things were still practiced. My mother found joy in the things that felt like drudgery to me, making quilts with scraps, sewing our clothing, and bottling fruit in season. To her the sight of dozens of bottles of fruit on the shelves was beauty because it meant food security for her family. I saw those same shelves and thought of the ten dozen, or more, bushels of fruit that I had helped peel to get them there.
As an adult, I too, wanted to create things for my family but I was more interested in making jam with interesting combinations of fruits, relish and pickles of different kinds…no more plain bottling of peaches for me. I always admired my mom for her fortitude and joy in the basics. I learned all of those skills from her and used them in different ways. I always considered myself frivolous in my choices of how I used my skills. What I learned in a lifetime of experience is that both ways are valid. Food for the body and creative beauty for the soul. Both need to be fed.
Thank you for your thoughtful and inspiring videos. Food for the soul.❤

Hi, Jackie, I have enjoyed watching your 3 videos. I'm a HK...Hallmark Kid 😂 My parents opened a Hallmark store in a little town called Central, north of Baton Rouge, LA in 1981. It was such a fun store, but a lot of work. I have saved a few of the Mary Engelbreit paper doll sheets; it's so fun to "meet" the artist behind them, along with your pups. I am stitching Consider the Lilies...your version of the pattern is gorgeous and so inspiring. Wow! what a store you have around the corner from you. Florilegium is full of so many beautiful threads and textures. What a treasure trove of creative inspiration. Bridget Powers is gorgeous, as well your red sampler. I have been sprinkled with Jean Lee's pixie dust from afar 😆 ...I have some 56 count I purchased from The Attic with some read Tudor silk for a stitching piece to put in a Tim Holtz locket. Thank you for sharing your journey. Take care and Happy Stitching! 🧵

Jackie, I’m a self taught crafter except for crochet and sewing. My 3rd grade teacher was my crochet instructor 😊. My Mom could sew apparel without a pattern and play an organ or harmonica by ear.Her Mom was the quilter, and she crocheted, and embroidered. I think that’s where my craftiness comes from because I didn’t know my grandmother well she was older and ill when I visited.
I enjoy your positive twist on the world . Negativity is present in my world on a daily basis. So often can’t reigns supreme in my world. I’m encouraged by your perspective.

Another wonderful video, Jackie! Thank you! I wish you lived next door, so I could run over and tell you about all the things you made me think of. Will share one thought. When you were talking about inspiration….I was a middle school teacher for 29 years. I am also a quilter. I read a piece in a quilting magazine many years ago that was written by a teacher. Her point was that teachers only have a child as a student for a year or so. Teachers don’t always see a finished product. We may cross paths with a student many years later as an adult, but that most often doesn’t happen. So, we end each school year having contributed to the growth of that child, but never seeing a finished product. She went on to say that quilting allowed her to achieve a finished product and thereby give balance in her life. I’m not exactly sure how I got to this memory as you spoke about inspiration, but I suspect many of us stitch to reach a similar type of point in our lives.

I can see why you love that store! It looks like a thoughtfully curated collection and definitely a place to draw inspiration. I am definitely not a monogamous stitcher😂. A while back I embraced the idea of what difference did it make if it was sitting in my stash or something I started so I could pick it up whenever it called to me. I do agree that I find it difficult to work on multiple projects in a day. I only do it if I finish something or a project needs to go into time out. Thank you again for a lovely video!

Thank you for sharing your wonderful stitching. Great video, I love all kinds of crafts.
When I was in 5th (many years ago) girl had to take sewing and cooking classes. That’s where the creative seed planted. I made clothes for my children. Then went on to making totes and handbags, while working a full time job.
Now at age 70 I want to learn to quit and cross stitch. ❤

I live in McPherson Ks. and I have been to Weston a few times. It is one of my favorite
little towns to experience. There used to be a club in the basement of an old distillery and we used to like to go there. I will definitely be checking out the shop around the corner from you. The flowers on your large piece of work are beautiful. I have been sewing and stitching for the last 59 years...yes I am old. Well, not in my mind but definitely in my looks, LOL.

Lived near Weston years ago, was lovely town then. Still have items from Saturday night at the local auction house, to include furniture pieces and an old crocheted table cloth that still gets used. Hope to visit again in future. Definitely won't miss a stop at Florilegium. Another great floss tube. Bridget kitted, not started yet

I so get that - being able to walk away at the end of the day. I have always worked in healthcare, with the last 15 years in a physician’s office and it’s been difficult to disconnect at the end of the day. So I am retiring in 3 weeks!🎉🎉🎉. I cannot wait to be able to have the psychic space to focus on me. Looking forward to long stretches of time to stitch, quilt and read without having to give a second thought to the past workday of the next workday 😊

Thank you for sharing your stitching passion with us! Love seeingvwhat you are making and your progress and thoughts on redesign. I too have a hard time just following the given instructions! Especially with the very intense level of creativity around us always showing ways to move outside the direction given. When you were talking about historical clothing and design it reminded me about a book called, "The Gown" which describes the embroidery houses in London that stitched for royalty. The story itself is pretty light, but I loved that glimpse into what that profession would have looked like all those years ago. You might enjoy it as well. Blessings to you and continued joy in your journey!

Thank you for another lovely, relaxing, informative, and simply enjoyable visit with you😊. Such a wonderful shop tour too! I really love this sort of revival of the creative/entrepreneurial spirit I've seen taking place the past few years, especially among younger people as they make their way in the world. We've gotten so far away from making things ourselves and the pleasure and satisfaction it can bring. As for your search for Bridget...might I suggest you try reaching out to Kathleen Littleton who is the designer behind Cross Stitch Antiques? She recently had some Irish reproduction samplers at Market this year and might be able to offer her thoughts on whether Bridget might be Irish or not. Without knowing the name of the stitcher and just looking at the design on the sampler, I would have guessed it was either Italian, French, Spanish, or possibly even German. It would be wonderful if you could find out the story of this little girl! Happy stitching!

So agree with you relative to if you think you can/can’t! I purchased some 56 ct last fall and haven’t used it - yet…but, that is going to change when I finish Sarah Milthorp (I’m a monogamous stitcher). Florilegium is candy for the eyes❤️ How wonderful to have such inspiration around the corner. Love Frida Kahlo - her story is tragic yet inspirational. We have a print of hers in our study - a self portrait with her zippered body…homage, if you will, to what she endured after her accident. And thank you - thank you for sharing! Look forward to your next flosstube!

You are so right about the I Can and I can’t ! Sarah of Sarah’s Stitchy Spot thought she couldn’t until I told her to look at the 25 count Lugana and asked her if she could see the threads. She said she could and I told her that means you CAN stitch 1/1 on 25 count Lugana. She’s feeling much more confident now about stitching 1/1 ❤. As for me, I figured I wouldn’t know unless I tried. That’s how I moved from stitching 1/1 on 25 count, to 28 count, the. 32 count and 36 count. Before trying the lower counts I saw a chart for 1/1 on 46 count and figured I’d just give it a try and I was able to do it. I saw Nicola Parkmans Floss Tube about the locket Jean Lea gave her that was stitched 1/1 on 56 count, so figured I have to at least try. It took a bit of getting used to, but I was able to get through it and made one for myself. When I went to the Bristol retreat I asked Jean if she had made one for herself and she said no, so I told her I would make one for her. It’s the same with finishing - I wasn’t great at finishing the lockets Jean sells. Sarah’s locket opened up and it was a really tough close so I told her I would re-do it and I then figured out a better way to do it and it worked. It’s all a mindset - you Can do something if you keep your mind open to it with a can-do attitude 😊

I remember when Sarah told us that she was going to really give the 1/1 a try with your guidance. I was happy she’d gotten over whatever mental hurdle she’d placed in front of herself.
Your work is exquisite, that locket you made for Jean was just gorgeous. ❤️

Hello Jackie, it’s good to see you again. I’ve enjoyed every part of your visit.
I, too, love Frida. I believe the actress who played her in the film you referred to may have been Salma Hayek, but it’s been awhile. One of my favorite quotes of hers is ‘Feet what do I need you for when I have wings to fly.’ I have a Barbra Ana chart called Viva la Vida. I’m thinking of stitching it on a terra cotta or rust fabric and including that quote…
Thank you for all your inspiration, and for all you do to make our hearts and hands happy.

For me it's hard to stop going/doing/running. But the text on the card is so right. And I lóve my running, it's not that, but it's also good to stop running sometimes and listen, get inspired on another level, explore this new thing(s). Thank you for another lovely video. ❤️ I’ve enjoyed each one, immensely. And truthfully? Your paper dolls in the ME magazine were my favorites.
I’m also attracted by Catholic symbolism, but I was raised Catholic. Attended a Catholic University and loved it. Like yourself, I am interested in convents ( been watching Billy, Yannis, et al now for almost two years), nuns, etc. Hildegard von Bingen. I was immersed for awhile, in the laces produced by the French nuns. You are working on a beautiful French alphabet, which I hope to start soon.
Your tour of the Florigeum was amazing! The shop reminds me of a scene from Gigi where they are in a French salon. Beautiful.
Love your guided meditations. My advisor/priest swears by it to relieve stress. ❤️

Another amazing video. Bridget is absolutely beautiful. I love doing monochrome projects on 56 count. My sweet spot is 46 count. My Mom was born in Scotland and then they moved to the Northants in England. When we were growing up we used to “have” to go each year to England. We went the end of February to the end of March. My Mom’s whole family was in England except one sister. We had a blast every year. Now I wish I “had” to go again. Going to try Yorkshire Gold tea, we are Typhoo tea drinkers here, a very strong black tea. Birschall tea is a lovely tea especially the English Breakfast one. I just saw a finish on the Lessons in Abecedarian and it was beautiful. Cordelia is pretty. I’m a Puffin lover as well, I wanted to go up to Maine last year where they were but it didn’t work out. Thank you for the RUclips recommendations, always looking for something different to watch. The shop below you is wonderful and to start dying linen! Another great ending, thank you
