Say what you want, this boy was otherworldly. A straight blues dog.
The man was a complete animal on that strat…. Unbelievable….
Stevie has no equal on the guitar, that's a given....but can we talk about that voice, please. Love love it!
that why i think in all of the music history he is really underrated
Amen sister!
don't give me wrong I love Stevie and he is a badass but consider Johnny Winters. Who was one of his influences. He never gets credit he is a badass to the complication of a lot of his with like black cat bone period Tin Pan Alley
Amen to that!
@@paulettelamontagne6097 Rip Johnny Winter
Such an underrated song of his. Everyone always talking about Texas Flood, Life without you, voodoo child but I don’t see as much appreciation for this song. This right up there with the best
Absolutely right. It gets frustrating
Everything this man did was kick ass
SRV's guitar talent is manifest, but this song highlights his vocal talent - he was the complete package as an artist, and he is still sorely missed.
I think it’s the same thing with SRV’s 🎸 instrumentals like Riviera Paradise and Lenny - so beautiful too and yet they don’t seem to have the recognition they deserve either imo!
Agreed!!! Rip goat SRV we love and miss you!!!
6:10 after that solo when the crowd cheers, he smiles knowing that it felt good.
Squawk22 V.V. Yes sir. He knew it came off just right even if the crowd didn’t catch every nuance. Cool moment
when you watch not just the notes he picked with precision, but look at his technique. he's hitting the notes like he already played them before@@Mitch1977
He was always so bounded with the audience, just look how his eyes lightens up when he hears the cheering 6:14
Yes!
His Soul Is Beyond Beautiful!! A Born Star!!!
WENT to a ZZ Top concert in the early 80's & a Cover Band played...... lol, it was SRV w/ a bass/drum
player...... He played the music of any two(2) guitarists & it blew me away !! He was better than the
group I paid to see & I miss him dearly....... R.I.P Stevie Ray peace & GB All
I cant wait to meet this badass when I go up to heaven. I think all of us would love the chance to smoke a cigar with SRV
Damn. The best guitar player and best voice. Stevie Ray you are missed.
everyone knew he was great then....but over thirty years later with all the guitarist that has came since his passing, many good but none better technically and none with the passion. Due to age and going into the military I never saw him live but being from Austin, I was very familiar with him long before he went "national" and was considered a "local boy" here although originally from Dallas. I'm just sad I didn't appreciate the greatness to the extent I should have when he was here and sad he didn't have an opportunity to continue his life and music... still none better....
The most sexist part of this song was his most beautiful smile. It caught him by surprise,he was th e best.
The best guitarist ever born. That voice! How he was alive. Love, love, love him!

stevie, prince, jimi and freddy king , all in heaven, I can hear it from here
My favorite guitar player and such a underrated singer
So true. I thought I read he actually didn't want to have to sing all the time as he frequently would and wanted some sideman time still even by then. He probably really enjoyed that having some of his supporting regulars join him and sing for him I'd imagine.
SRV was the best blues guitar player ever. You can feel the emotion flowing out of the guitar.
I think he was the greatest guitarist ever not just in blues but I know where you're coming from
Yes BB king ,Albert King too
What about
BB King Albert King Freddy King Elmore James Jimmy James James Marshall Hendrix Beano Eric Clapton Peter Green MF ING GARY MOORE! Albert Collins Billy Gibbons Son Seals Hubert Sumlin
Johnny Winter and etc
Um, I do see your point though, SRV picked a very good song to express himself with here. And he did express himself pretty well
Not so fast dude... you forget a man called "Slow Hand"...
@@rolandhansen2758 agreed
He did not die of his own undoing. He was on a roll. The GOAT
if only they flew during daylight hours we would still have Stevie today
There is not a guitarist on this planets surface, past or present. That can play with the passion and soul , Stevie Ray Vaughn took the world by storm, and schooled the best of them with ease, and showed he was a humble man always, giving respect to all.
J.S
Hello, there is a lovely very young blues player, he plays like SRV, his name is Toby Lee he is from Britain. Let me hear you in the near future. Enjoy!
This one speaks the ancient tounge ! ( The Grand Po Bah of Sound !)
J S relax. Hendrix came before him. Without Hendrix there is not SRV
Relax, in every genre of music and technology, etc., someone came before--Ford came before Ferrari, just as an example--not that Jimi was a Ford, but you get my drift.
roberta fioretti I agree. But the point is that Ferrari had to learn from ford. Srv learned from the greats... listen to his playing he is heavily inspired by Albert King imo... you can honestly hear a little bit of all the black blues players simply because the genre was created by us. So naturally you pick up the habits and develop your own along the way, so I agree with you that somebody came before everybody but that’s just the point there was a before and that has to be respected.
After all these years, still feels like his music, never left me.😍
I hear you but remember not many of his songs were his. Like this one is a direct copy not for note. Many forget that but he when alive would remind folks how long it took him to be able to play like his heroes.
In fact when he wanted to play with Albert King and record it his label went crazy and almost booted him. They did not want the public to know his songs were other people's songs. SRV was a very non racist honest man and he got that from his mother who used to dance to Louie Jordon and get spankings for it when she was a child. Just a fun fact....lol
@@BlindMellowJellyInc uuummm, yes he did write this song! Released it in 1985. 🎶🙋🏻♀️🎵
@@suzysrvgirl4ever164 Ok pay attention, I never ever said he did not publish or write this song? Now show me where you misunderstood me ....I will wait
@@suzysrvgirl4ever164 Larry Davis wrote Texas Flood which is the song he got the record deal with and then released in 1983. I just dont know what you're making such a statement about?
Easily one of if not the Greatest song ever produced by a human being. Texas made!
Crazy but I cant stop feeling he’s still here. You can feel performer’s energy in an unaltered video💝🤣

Yes I feel it also..
This is one of the most powerful and passionate performances I have ever seen from Stevie, even by his standards, this entailed passion. Fuck he was good.
Yes!
He was the best! Such a great performance My favorite video of him!
i always thought life without you at capitol is the best but this one is maybe equal to it. what an unbelievable show that was
My brother met Stevie a long time ago and was shocked by how small he was. He said he couldn't have been taller than 5'4". He said at first he thought he was a circus performer and then this buzz went through his spine when he realized who it was. You never expect famous people to be short. Just like Prince who was 5'2". These small guys who were just utter giants in music.
Interesting. I always thought his bassist Tommy was really tall like me . I guess he’s tall just not as tall as I thought he was. Probably around 6’0
Fallacy. He may have seemed small, but all his documents, including arrests (sure the police got it right) say he was actually 5'9. Tommy was asked and said he was 5'9 and Tommy is reportedly around 6'5 or so. Reese is reported to be 6'7. Chris is a little taller than Stevie.
just love it when he smiles upon hearing the applause at the end of the mid stretch solo. Man, what a cat!
This is a breath of Fresh Air after Letting Go On Love Thank ya Stevie Ray for the Love Kindness Care that ya showed to the world ❤❤❤ Miss ya So Much
I am convinced Stevie was Possessed by His Guitar with the Blues, He played like a man possessed. The Greatest Texas Bluesman of All Times, RIP Stevie, We miss you Buddy!!!!!
Chills, absolute CHILLS listening to this... Missing YOU immensely Stevie...
Whether you like his redefinition of the blues or not, you don't know a thing if you can't respect the musical, I would certainly say genius of Stevie Ray Vaughn!
I was brought up on the Beatles, in the 60's, But for the guitar, it had to be Hendrix,, But I'm still lauding this guy, S R V, He really is out there with the very best, I listen to him every day, Iv'e never even listened to my wife every day, On the odd day maybe.`But SRV is something else.We miss you man .
That little smile after the solo..... God i miss him
Bet he was looking out at a standing ovation👏👏👏👏😎
I absolutely love Stevie's reaction at the 6:14 time stamp mark, so genuine and honest, a testament to the man he was!
Well, after ripping such an amazing solo I'd also be happy if people loved it 😅 what a legend he was.
Funny how music can erase that color line in the sand. But few cross it out of fear of the unknown. Rest in peace stevie.
SRV and the band were huge... as much as their heritage is! Their spirit and music live on! ✊
Yes so true!
I am not sure SRV would agree but he would think your point was correct. I love my birthplace because I was born there but it is a hot racist mess now. I went to Highschool with Dwight Yokam and he had his hillbilly music thing but was not at all much of a hillbilly.....lol He was too cool for that nonsense.
in Jr Highschool he used to call himself a black man. He almost was not joking because he worshiped those artists he talked about. His parents hosted party where the whole neighborhood would show up and dance and play cards. But outside that hood was racist as hell and he hated it with a passion.
The only message I would send to the future.
Well said 👍👍👍
y tf would u do that? if i could do something like that, i would go BACK in fuckin Time and tell him not to fuckin go on that helicopter.
no hard feelings
RIP SRV

He plays this version of this song like a gunslinger. He never sounded better. Compare this to the studio album cut and you see what those fortunate enough to have seen Stevie live were shouting off the mountaintops. I saw him in Berkeley, CA around '85 and to this day I've never seen anyone better.
Dude, Greek Theatre, Berkely '85!? I was there! Just killer! Saw him in Concord and Oakland as well! One of a kind.
I am jealous!
He was the best show me anybody on this planet that could even stand in stevies light.
You saw him live in '85!?!! That's fucking awesome man, the main reason I hope there's an afterlife is so I can hear him play live
Yes without any doubt!
Blues Guitar God.... died too soon ... Every time I listen to his music so powerful nobody did it better to fuse rock and blues.
Amen!
I thought he was one of the best - if not THE best - guitarist in the world. I was stunned when he died! He made playing the guitar look effortless! BTW - I saw keyboardist Reese Wynans play with Joe Bonamassa's band in Buffalo a few months back. HE'S still playin' great!

Every tear that I've cried
Only washed away the fear inside
Now I, I ain't gone 'n' give up on love
Every beat of my heart
Pounds with joy and not with pain
Every beat of my heart
Pounds with joy and not in vain
And although those are painful memories
Only brought me to my knees
I was just given up on love

It’s perfect. I’m speechless , perfect. Greetings from Argentina.
Talented beautiful humble funny Stevie you are the only one who has ever touched my soul and heart with music ❤ rip you beautiful soul you are loved and missed ❤ this song always gives me goosebumps
IMO he was one of the top 3 of all time. My personal favorite. This performance, and the entire Capital concert, was one of his greatest total performances IMO. The outrageous chord at 0:36 blows me away every time. Most of the crowd was really ecstatic and appreciative, except for a few in row 1 who were either stunned out of their gourds at what they were hearing, or just plain out of it.
Was there scored 20row outside! Cried!!
S.r.v. ain't going to give up
On love.
Was this around the time he became ill and stopped drinking? He's the master; sobriety made him even better, and I'm so glad he had those last few happy years. RIP Stevie, your heart plays on.
Deborah Curci I think this is shortly after sobriety.
stickinit totheman he sobered a year after this concert he went to rehab in late 86 and then started touring again in early 87
Deborah Curci. The stupid thing is that he still played with the same intensity after rehab.Who does that?!!!
@@minorsnow5306 the master of the telecaster.
SRV was at his low point with drinking and cocaine around 1985........and still played like this.

A once in 10 lifetimes craft master.
he is so real...nobody can do this agian.
that guitar speaks. ..Steve Ray Vaughan. Unique . White heart and black soul....An incalculable loss
Stevie Ray Vaughn was only 24 when he passed. Thing is, he would have gotten better. Amazing.
He was 35
This is crap.. i can't believe this video doesn't have more views. This whole concert has such a raw aggressiveness to it even by srv standards. He's a master of balancing that aggressiveness with his beautiful phrasing. This video alone literally inspired me to do a cover of it for my channel. SRV so damn POWERFUL in this
So true bro. I guess we're the lucky few lol. Seriously though, compare this to anything you hear on radio today. He was def a prodigy. It's like the guitar was an extension of himself. Only a guitar player can understand i think. You can be the fastest, most on key guitarist ever and you won't nobody will ever sound that good. maybe a handful. its all soul with him
yeah this concert was above the top, even in srv standarts

@Bryan B if you want to hear a masterpiece with a lot of licks you have never heard SRV play before you should watch SRV SKY IS CRYING ROME INN
Um,, he was always powerful,,and only smart people have this good taste!
Such an underrated blues singer
this man was from another planet 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎼🎶🎶😥😥💓💓💓👍👍👍☝☝
That section from 5:00 - 5:30 (appx) shows how much emotive power can be unleashed with just a few really well played notes. Stevie was the master at making every note count.
uh no... if he didnt have the band playing with him it would be over barring and annoying as hell.. it takes the whole band not one person with guitar
Maybe try some John Lee Hooker and see what can be done with a few notes? ;)
Well isnt that kind of obvious?... I think the original comment was just someone in love with SRV.. if you love SRV you must love layton and shannon..
Matthew Greenwood awesome ear you have, and eloquently expressed. That 30 second piece just encapsulates who he is.....with a minimum of notes. Almost anyone can play those notes, but no one other than SRV can give them life like that!!!!!
This just done. ruclips.net/video/EJIVGac4IvM/видео.html
Before I ever saw his face I felt the connection between his voice and his guitar playing. I have never felt that with any other blues man. I love him.
And the message was LOVE , Stevie Ray Vaughan Forever !
Thank you, Stevie. You saved my life.

OMG!!! This Guy Lays it Down , unlike no other!
To my mind, heart and soul - he was the best. He was the best ever.
I adore this song. This is much of a magnum opus as Little Wing was for Hendrix - and SRV's otherworldly skill is on display for all to see!
Absolutely!
I absoutely love watching him play. SRV is and was the GOAT of blues guitarist. Way better than hearing all of this Justin Bieber crap. Is it weird to admit I used to pretend to be him when I was younger
Adding Reese Wynans on keys was the best thing he ever did
The sound mix on this version is really good. And the musical arrangements sound better than on the albums I've had ... maybe different makes a nice change. Great sounding piano & organ on this one!
The version at Daytona Beach is great too-go back and forth on them for different reasons but this is my ultimate favorite SRV song. “Life Without You” really close second along with “Couldnt Stand the Weather” all from this Capitol Theater show😎
Reese was a huge addition to the band, opened up everything, allowed SRV to really emote with that AX
SAVAGE!!! He took something from Jimi
and recreated a whole new style... lightning blues. All the greats say the same thing about SRV, he just played and never once had to think about it.
This performance is pure Albert King who influenced Jimi also by the way.
David Priest You’re a fool. SRV much more skilled than Albert. Albert could not have done Pipeline, Texas Flood(El mocombo version) Little Wing, Leave My Little Girl Alone (Waterloo NJ ‘90 version) Life Without You, etc. Albert was one dimensional, played in a box.
💥🎸 People, the guitar was created for THIS❣ 🎸💥 ♡RIP Stevie Ray
