Hello! As I am getting older, I am having difficulty getting to sleep and staying asleep. This video caught my attention, so, after looking up the ingredients, I decided to order them online and make this tea. I wanted to share my experience. The first time, I followed the brewing instructions using 2 teaspoons of the tea mixture as directed. The tea was quite strong, and did not taste good at all, but I drank it. I did not experience a sleepy feeling, but went to bed at my regular time, and I did fall asleep. I stayed asleep for longer than 8 hours and felt refreshed when I woke up in the morning. On day #2, I decreased the tea to 1.5 teaspoons and added an ounce of rosewater and some acacia honey. The taste was improved. Again, no overwhelming sleepy feeling, but I fell asleep in a comfortable amount of time, and slept 8 hours again. I am pretty satisfied so far with the way this tea works, and would like to thank you for the video. Tonight will be day #3, and I fully expect the same good results.
It's made a big difference for me. When I get a good night's sleep, the whole day goes better. I suggest anyone who has sleep difficulties should give it a try. Way better than meds
Have been drinking this recipe for two weeks. As a perimenopausal woman who's sleep has been disrupted since 2017 I am now sleeping at least 5-7 hours uninterrupted most nights. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. Have made my 2nd batch and am trying out passionflower on its own during the day, so yes, taking time to get to know the plant.
I was out running a Hurricane! My daughter was a month old! I couldn't breast feed her for several hours. Long story short, milk got blocked. The nurse said to use chamomile tea! Worked like a charm!
I just found this channel and subscribed. I always knew Severus Snape had a hidden kind heart. He was my favourite Potter character-Always. Peter Jackson-Main is like a Potions Master. He does have a warming presence.
The tea taste so wonderful and better than that, It helped both me and my husband to sleep like never before. I love you for sharing this. I have slept now for two nights in a row and wake feeling so happy. You are my saviour and I am passing on the message to all my friends. xxx
I personally prefer to let the herb matter free float in the water. The aroma of the herbs is better, and there's also more plant surface exposed to the water (better extraction). Simply strain after steeping.
It is also the preferred and most widely used way to infuse herbs in water by literally every herbalist I know of. Personally, I dislike the contact of metals with herbs. To me it seems like imprisoning the plants. Putting them behind bars. Or putting shackles on them. So, freedom for my herbs anyway:))@@HappyGirl-ii6zf
Great recipe. Can you share the scientific name. I can’t find some of the teas in my country for: Scullcape Californian amapola Lavanda Thx for your help 🙏🏻
Hello Peter. So glad I found your channel. I like the ingredients in this blend. I buy an apothecary prepared blend that includes Ashwaganda. I do like various herbs by themselves (Skullcap, Passionflower, Chamomile) to calm and prepare for a relaxing evening. I just subscribed.
Completely agree - Passionflower, chamomile, and valerian are perfect. Lavender and rose are interesting. I disagree on the California Poppy as many may not wish to introduce that; and scullcap is a little much for most. Still, you did suggest even using any of the herbs alone, which is good. Learning what your body cab handle is a good idea.
Thank you for your generous video recipe. Was able to purchase some of the herbals locally. Now waiting for my order with the rest. Looking forward to see how this tea affects me. I'm going to test it out, if it's helpful I will gift some to fellow insomniacs on my holiday list. Fingers crossed. I had to stop using THC edibles it was blocking REM sleep.
@@collegenatmedI would love to try this- where can I find most of these herbs. Some are hard to find like poppy, rose, and fresh lavender? Thank you in advance!
Hi I would like to know what Chinese herb can't be used with antidepressants. I have chronic insomnia and I'm sick of taking prescription drugs that leave me feeling extremely sluggish and fatigue d. Thank you.😊
If you are on medications like antidepressants we would always suggest to see a herbalist to ensure that you are on a safe herbal blend with no drug-herb interactions. I am not sure where you are based but we do have herbal medicine clinics in our London Kings Cross campus which you can book into via the CNM website: www.naturopathy-uk.com
It is a beautiful herb - we teach it quite extensively on our herbal medicine course as you can imagine. So great for sleep support, but also for calming the nervous system and helping with anxiety, stress etc.
Hi there. You could try contacting a local herbalist to see if they are able to provide you with a blend of herbs. Or try a health food store. I hope that helps!
I gave it up as well- cold turkey& I’m soda-free since March 20, 2023. Actually, I went cold turkey on all sugars; except sugar naturally found in fruits/vegetables. I can share what helps me- I bought a carbonator (so worth it) & I make my own “sodas” by adding lemon, lime, cucumber, mint, oranges, blueberries, hibiscus flower, etc., to the bubbly water! Delicious even alone but my favorite go-to’s are: hibiscus & cucumber/mint. Good Luck to you You don’t need a carbonator though, you could do the same blends using cold, filtered water & infuse.
I'd luv to see de natural rustic way of de infusion leaves floating & steeping strength & color or placed in paper mesh tea bags. ❤ Then strain .if it's loose tea leaf.😅
When you say skullcap, which are you referring to? Scutellaria lateriflora or Scutellaria baicalensis? I realize that they have similar names, but they aren't interchangable. Thanks so much!
Great idea. You can also select just some of the herbs from this blend in the video to make a herbal tea if you would prefer. For example: chamomile and passionflower would also work beautifully for most!
It seems a god recipe to try. But you have to use caution. Many people has allergies to some herbs. It would help to give the recipe in the box to avoid confusion. Homeopathic doctors recommend to only use three herbs. Can you please elaborate on this topic? Thanks so much. Looking forward to read your thoughts.
Thank you for sharing. I've been drinking chamomile every night, before bed. There's only one brand I enjoy, which is quite expensive, for 20 bags. However, half these herbs I've never heard of or seen... Where would one purchase them? Don't tell me... Amazon, right?
I wouldn't trust herbs from Amazon necessarily. Sometimes people sell something and it isn't the herb they claim. I have had this issue. Given that some herbs can interact with medications and have wildly different effects, you really want a reliable herb company, preferably a local herbalist. Mountain Rose Herbs is quite good.
Wonderful video!! Thank you so much!! I have ordered all of the herbs except the rose petals. Would you be so kind as to share with me (and the others) the botanical name of the type of rose petals you use? I'd hugely appreciate it. Also, if you have a recommended source for them (and the other herbs) that you could share, that would be awesome as well. Thank you again!! 🙂
I wander if you combine these herbs in a food processor and give it a quick chop will it increase the surface area of the herbs thereby extracting more of the chemicals from the herbs and making it more effective?
Goodness... I drink a blend of lavender and chamomile green iced tea as my primary hydration. A sprinkle of sugar just to take off the edge of the bitterness.

But slowly you’re eating or drinking that plastic because of the hot water, no? I heard that from a chef who told me to discard all my plastic cooking utensils.
We tend to go for stainless steel here and this should not really change the herbs properties. We avoid plastic as the hot water could easily leach chemicals from the plastic into the tea - not good! I hope that helps
