I absolutely love this interpretation of the piece. He plays so lightly and with just the right amount of rubato. As an aspiring violinist myself, this is inspiring.
How would you recommend someone go about getting rid of scratchy sounds? I've been playing viola for a while and I think I have a pretty firm sound. However, whenever I set my bow or shift I feel like my bow bounces and there are some strange sounds.
This again proofs Bach's genius, how the essence of life can be captured in some lines of music. With the excellent help of this utmost talented Johan Dalene. ❤
The fuck do you mean by “no exaggerated gestures”? Exaggerated gestures are what make classical music worth listening to. Playing a piece without gesture is like drawing a picture with no creativity or imagination or like copying a master’s painting stroke for stroke. This soloist’s “exaggerated gestures” are what gives his interpretation life!
Julia Fischer, a respected violinist who I always looked up to when I studied the violin. She always stands poised and gives very dignified, noble performances. Everyone listening is completely captured by her presence. Bravo maestro!
It's not that good, that's why. That would not have been accepted by any of my teachers. Everybody wants to make a piece their own, but they don't understand that it's not an interpretation when you do it this way, you're actually changing the piece. Bach has no tricks and doesn't need 20th century embellishments with changing the tempo.

Your octaves are out of tune and you're playing with the tempo too much, giving it too many changes. It's a dance. Play it so that it stays steady. Also pull your hand back a little bit because you're just a little bit sharp all the way through. This is not good.
@@gsm2424in fact, it is rubato. Just tap the beat he carefully places at the start. It all works out. Anyway, Bach dances were not written to be danced to anyway
@@talesfromthequick Sure, Bach wrote dance movements not having in mind that they are actually dances. Rubato means "Stolen" in Italian, this means that you steal duration from something and you return it on the upcoming notes, this keeps your tempo perfectly. If I tap while he plays, I need to wait for him to land on some beats, that's NOT rubato.
This is Johan Dalene playing the Gavotte from the Partita in E major, BWV 1006 by J.S. Bach
It would be nice if you pinned your comment, so it's the first thing people see.
Thank you

I didn’t know a violin could sound that beautifully.
I didn't see a single tear 😢
Because the whole movement wasn’t played
The violin has the essence to do so; it is the most magnificent of instruments.
Beautiful astonishingly simple and elegant
Finally a modern version that I like!! Not like the ones by the most mainstreaming musicians, that belt every note. This one sounds like a real dance
I'm sorry Bach, but this was my alarm for awhile, I can't fully enjoy this masterpiece for at least a few years
😂😅😂😅
Tears of joy. If this guy keeps going it'll be overtime for me!

I've heard a lot of violin music and I've never heard anything like this before. I'm astonished
Hahahahahahah! Really…..
Not even Leonidas Kavakos….I see…..
That is how you make a violin sing.
Such pleasure❤
Delightful god, so precius!
Really enjoyed the perform, totally clean sound, excellent interpretation.

Love Bach’s music and love Baroque music ❤️
soo beautiful, singing violin, and the dynamic ❤

I love that piece. I learned it a few years ago, but I never played it nearly as well as this.

What is the name of a violinist?
Joshua Bell
