Hell yeah! I’m all the way blue collar, and when you got frustrated with the camera and said just watch man! Knew right then you my kind of guy. Right on for your time making this video much appreciated
I just did mine, I found that the best way was to take the needle and bend it to about a 30-45 degree angle and use a non-flexible pipe out of the grease gun.
I bought the Lincoln 5806 6" Grease Needle Nozzle 1/8" NPT Female Thread from ebay and you can grease the joint without bending the needle and I was able to use my grease gun that has the flexible hose, I have a 2018 2500 and it has the manual shift for the transfer case so my shaft doesn't turn all the time but only when it's in 4 wheel drive. I have read in some of the comments that the shaft turns all the time but that's not true. If you can turn your shaft by hand without your front tires off the ground then you don't have to worry as much about the joint compared to one that turns all the time but I still grease mine every time I chg my oil.
@@pddieselpower your very welcome, you provide enthusiastic content too all of us RAM HD owners 2500/3500's, we actually look forward to seeing your videos. Especially if we have the mindset no matter what you know, you can always learn more from seeing things through someone else's eyes. Blessings and Merry Christmas to you my friend.
I talked to a driveline specialist about this joint he recommended since this joint actually moves up and down (slightly) with the suspension it’s always good to at least have grease inside. Add a couple squirts at least once a year if you use your four-wheel-drive often put three or four squirts every oil change (or until new grease comes out the backside every oil change
I can confirm that my dealership DID NOT service that joint during oil change. When I questioned them after seeing no grease, they said they didn't have the correct tools to grease that joint so they just ignored it. So much for their complimentary oil change following Ram's service instructions. That was 6 years ago. They haven't touched my truck since then except for recalls.
Ive watched about 6 of these "grease your Ram front drive shaft" videos. Always shows the grease point location and fresh grease AFTER the job is complete. Hav'nt found one yet that actually shows anyone greasing this thing.
Thanks for showing that up close, it gets overlooked too often. At the dealership I work at, we always grease that. It's been our standard procedure for many years. If your dealership doesn't know about it, there is something seriously wrong with them. We've seen what happens when people don't grease their driveshafts. It's not pretty. Can even write the truck off with frame and floor damage. Sorry to say but it's often the DIY'ers and Quick oil change places who overlook that.
Do the 19 rams have a grease indent the owners manual say to grease if you have one ,but not sure can't find it also was told it was like a needle you pump a ball up with still can't find either of them could I not have a grease point?
Do these have free spinning front shafts until you lock in 4wd? Looked at one today and could spin it 360 degrees while truck was on. My older 04 5.9 stays locked in 24/7 i keep it off in the summer for better mileage and saves some life of that joint.
I asked the dealership to do it and they put on the repair order they they couldn’t find any fittings to grease it! I’ll keep that for when it fails and I make them replace it!!
I cannot for the life of me find either the stickers or the zerks on my 2019 3500. Does it not have them? The owners manual just says "for vehicles equipped"
Just picked up my truck and barely got it home 1500 down the drain, vp44 pump and lift pump were bad from the factory I told the mechanic that's bs. Truck is dying when coming to a stop, rpms bouncing around.
Off topic. But I have a brand new 2018 3500 srw with the aisin. Got truck with only 10 miles on it. It now has 500. My trans shifts out of first way to soon. Like 1400 rpm, if that. Then as soon as it shifts to second, I get some pretty bad shudder for like a second. Sometimes it's barely noticeable. Much more pronounced when pulling a trailer or taking a sharp turn from a dead stop while it shifts to into second. Then it's fine right up until it shifts from 4th to 5th. It shifts into forth for a split second then immediately into 5th. Is this normal for the 2018 aisin? Or do I have something wrong with my trans? Plan on taking it to the dealer soon. But figured I ask here first. Thanks in advance
This is a very weird advice. But get it fully warmed up. Put it in tow haul mode give it few full throttle pulls. But make sure to be in tow haul mode. Do few dead from a stop up to speed pulls. Something like pull over on a highway and when clear do a 0-70 run wide open throttle. This will reset your trans in away. So once your done doing your pulls turn off tow haul and see if that did the trick. Helps reset the trans.
I know. Only reason for the floor jack was to make the video. There was plenty without it. Just the camera wouldn't zoom out enough for me to show you guys. Good observation. Safety first. But in my case if the jack were to fail truck still had plenty of enough room for me to be under there.
No it doesn't have enough room, especially in the front by the u-joint you are greasing. You have to have a death wish to crawl under an 8800 lb truck with no jackstands. If it falls, that truck bounces down and you are dead to your family and your business. Really stupid move.
Please pardon my ignorance, but at about 5:35 in the video where you described lubricating the track bar it looks like you are showing control arm with grease zerk fittings. Are these grease fittings stock? I don't seem to have them on my 2018 3500 DRW 4x4. Excellent view of the drive shaft lubrication fitting. The video made doing mine a breeze.
I have the same truck, to move the driveshaft you'll have to jack up the front of the truck like he did in the vid so the shaft can turn freely. Alternatively you can hop under your truck and see where the fitting is and roll the truck back/forward until it's in an area to reach. Instead of having locking hubs our Rams are disconnected at the transfercase until you're in 4wd.
Go to your local automotive store and tell em your working on a 2000 Ram with the cummins in it and needing the 180 thermostat. You need to swap out the thermostat if your wanting to run lower numbers.

Great camera work for being under your truck. Thanks for the tour, Merry Christmas.
Thank you for the support

Dodge garbage

Same here.
Cause mopar is garbage. Horrible design
One day I’ll finally grease that fitting. Even bought the right tip for it but have yet to do it in 100k miles.

What other info do you need? How to use a grease gun?
Thanks brother, couldn't find it until I saw your vid.

Do 2015 ram 1500 hemi have this valve because I looked on mine and it looks it doesn’t have it.
Lincoln 5803 needle works great.

Great, yours is the most clear to show the oil injection point. Also other points need to be add grease?
Checked my 2019 RAM 3500, looks like they change this part.
Do the 1500 4x4's have this one also or just the HD's?
I cannot for the life of me find either the stickers or the zerks on my 2019 3500. Does it not have them? The owners manual just says "for vehicles equipped"
Do you raise up front wheel to spin shaft. Will look for mine. Right 120k. Thanks.
Hv 18 ram 2500, trying to find grease point for rear u joint. None I can find, is that never lube joint?

PD Diesel Power thank a bunch. Will try that the first chance I get. If it doesn't help it will b going back to the dealer for a flash or something.
Nice jackstands

My 2012 3500 also has the fitting on front driveshaft.
5500's do not have a grease fitting on the front drive shaft, both on my 15' and 20'.
I had to show my dealership, a similar video to prove the sticker is correct.
i have 2012 2500 that has the exact same thing. Gotta use Lithium Grease with a needle injection.
Please pardon my ignorance, but at about 5:35 in the video where you described lubricating the track bar it looks like you are showing control arm with grease zerk fittings. Those look like grease points but believe it or not they are not!
i have a 16 2500 i cant find this tiny hole or a zerk
So there’s only the one grease point on the entire drive shaft? Or is there one at every joint?
Just that one
Thanks PD!
Do you put bigger fuel tanks on your trucks? You said Titan?
I spray the underside with fluid film.
Mine only turns when in 4wd, and that's only a couple times per year. It's a 2017 Ram 3500. Do I still need to grease it so often? ...
Thats my question. How often to grease if you rarely use it. some people say it turns constantly but no.
I almost never found mine when I first got my Ram.
Why my driveshaft don't spin I have 2012
Do you use a needle or cone fitting on the grease gun?
End of the video there is a picture of the grease gun with a needle
What oil do you use to fill that part up?
I have a 2012 3500 I can’t turn my front drive shaft with my hands to find grease point what’s the way to turn shaft?
I have the same truck, to move the driveshaft you'll have to jack up the front of the truck like he did in the vid so the shaft can turn freely. Paul I deleted my truck and tuned it with one of Ryan’s tunes and my temps are still 192-200. What am I missing? Egr and dpf were stollen one night

Thanks man, I’ll try it this weekend
Question, how do you get the shaft to spin freely?
Jack up at least one of the front tires off the ground
What specific grease do you use?
Use Lithium grease
@@AZTechLabs no, it's a lithium BASED grease. Mopar ms6560 to be exact.
Thanks Bubba
Anyone else notice he was on the creeper and was by a lift?
That drive shaft doesn’t move unless you are in 4x4 , grease mine once a year
Gotta coat the entire shaft with grease to keep it from turning orange
:)
Boy Dodge has really turned into a big piece of junk as in it. Issues everywhere with the Dodge.
