    In this video of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (the MET), I take you on a guided virtual tour of the most popular works of art on display in the museum. You'll see Egyptian, American, Medieval, European, Modern, African, Greek and Roman, and Asian art and sculptures (and some architecture). You'll see art from impressionists, renaissance, abstract, and cubism. Famous artists in their permanent collection include Pisarro, Monet, Manet, Caravaggio, Bruegel, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Rubens, El Greco, Renoir, Cezanne, Toulouse, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Braque, Matisse, and Seurat, just to name a few. Basically, they have everything. This video is a quick tour of all the highlights in the MET's permanent collection.
    I studied a little Art History in college, so if you have any questions about anything you saw in the video, feel free to ask in the comments below.

    I’ve lived a few blocks away from the met for my whole life. Being so close, I’ve always taken it for granted. I recently went with a friend, put on some music and had an incredible experience. All I want to say is that, given the fact that you couldn’t take video, you did an incredible job showcasing this beautiful museum. The stop motion makes it it’s own work of art. If anyone reading this has dreams of visiting the met, pursue them. It’s worth it!

      Hell, Brian. Good evening. Thank you so kindly for your response. I sincerely apprecaite it. May I ask you a question? Should I pay to see the tour privately before the museum opens? What are your thoughts on this?

    • @PerfectLittlePlanet
      @PerfectLittlePlanet  6 лет назад

      I don't know about the tour, but I would only suggest doing it for two reasons: 1. if you want to avoid the summer crowds, and 2. if you want additional information about whatever you're going to see. The plaques throughout the museum are decently descriptive, but a tour guide could surely help to bring the history alive and put everything you see into context. It could be interesting. But it may be a lot of money for information you could find on your own on the internet. I'm not sure since I haven't taken it. If you decide to do it, please let me know how it was. -Brian

    Thank you so much for this. I've always avoided this museum because I don't know anything about art and feared not being able to appreciate it. I'M GOING! This winter.

      That's awesome! Hope you enjoy it. And honestly, you don't have to "appreciate" everything. There's enough in the museum that you should be able to find some stuff that really interests you. Just focus on that and breeze through the rest.

      @@PerfectLittlePlanet The problem is I do want to learn. A lot of museums are all about showing you things you know about without teaching you about things you don't.

    We just finished reading a book about kids who stay at the museum. Your video was a great way for my kids to see generally what it looks like and how big it is since we're on the West Coast and don't forsee visiting anytime soon. Thanks for the great tour!

    This is brilliant! I prefer this to any video of museums that I've seen!
    The music is a bit loud, but otherwise, I really enjoyed it. It is something
    I will never see in person. Thank You.

    Bravo!!! I adore the MET, wanted to take my 10 year old from Connecticut. Her mom said did not seem interested. She was enthralled by your video, wondered 1:54 how they stop people from taking all the paintings after your $45 million comment about one. Thank you. Off for mani and pedi’a instead. Some day she will see these and she will remember

      I have no idea how they keep all the paintings secure. I imagine they're all wired, but maybe it's something more advanced. Or maybe they just trust people, who knows? I hope you and your daughter can visit someday.
